I am in my late 20's and I have never danced before in my life. The first day I walked into CDT I remember thinking "What am I getting myself into?" As soon as the class started I was refreshed and amazed at how the instrutors made every student feel special regardless of skill level. The environment is non-intimidating and the instructors even gave me alternate steps and additional tips so I could reach MY potential. I have grown so much in dance and in confidence by going to classes at CDT. I recommend the studio to dancers of all ages and abilities :0)
The modern dance classes are definitely CDT's biggest strength. They're very affordable and at the same time very high quality. The rest of the classes can be a toss-up; you may love them or hate them, depending on your personal dance experience. CDT also sponsors a variety of professional performances that wouldn't be in Cincinnati otherwise. Volunteering for the agency has been a wonderful experience and I will continue to volunteer for them as long as possible.
CDT is wonderful; all of the staff and volunteers are so helpful, and the classes are so much fun for anyone, whether you've danced your whole life or never once.
Contemporary Dance Theater brings nationally known dance companies to Cincinnati and has a school of dance for adults and children. I have been a dance teacher for this organization and also been involved in many productions of my own work here. They have always been supportive of the amazing talent of the Cincinnati dance and performance community. They work on a shoestring and would be able to do amazing things with more financial support.
I have been involved with The Contemporary Dance Theater for almost fifteen years. As a teenager I attended dance classes, participated in dance performances, and had the opportunity to meet amazing dancers and artists. I currently teach at the Contemporary Dance Theater. CDT is a wonderful group to work with! It is especially nice to work with a group that is interested in bringing dance and art to the community. Their philosophy is that dance should be experienced by anyone, no matter their financial standing. Their work study program allows for interested individuals to volunteer their time at the studio in return for free dance classes. It is a privilege to be involved with such a worthy and well run organization!
