Causes: Arts & Culture, Theater
Mission: To preserve, promote and share the cultural heritage and traditions of african-american theatre through educational programs and hands-on experiences and training in theatrical performance culminating in authentic, enriching public presentation of theatre performances.
Programs: Performances - 18 performances of 4 major theatrical productions in 3 professional venues using 150 performers & support, to audiences totalling 4,000.
education - provided performing arts education covering three major areas: summer performing arts camp (45 eight-hour days with 30 participants), saturday morning production skills (20 saturdays, 4 hours each, with a total of 12 participants), and after-school arts development (1-2 classes per school week, averaging 135 class minutes per week, at 26 schools, with a total of 1,300 participants).
outreach - collaborated with schools, churches, businesses and other community and arts organizations to provide 10 performances, activities and workshops, including fine arts sampler weekend, africa culture fest, seat belt safety (play designed for cincinnati children's hospital), cincinnati black book fair, and riseuphaiti benefit.
