Mission: Children's hospital medical practice corporation (chmpc), a non-profit subsidiary corporation of children's hospital, was initiated to provide medically under-served geographic areas with convenient access to quality, cost-effective pediatric primary care.
Programs: The purpose of this corporation, consistent with the objectives for which our tax exemption was filed, includes the following:1. To acquire medical practices and develop new start-up practices to improve access to children's health services for all levels of economic status. 2. To employ quality physicians and other clinicians. 3. To practice medicine in conjunction with and in support of the patient care mission of children's hospital. 4. To develop, in conjunction with children's hospital, an integrated and geographically diverse pediatric health care delivery system. 5. To provide cost-effective, comprehensive pediatric care to the communities served by children's hospital and its affiliates through strong utilization review practices. 6. To ensure quality pediatric care delivery through strong quality assurance practices. Children's hospital medical practice corporation was incorporated on february 8, 1996, as a tax exempt, non-profit organization under the louisiana revised statutes of title 12 and the federal section 501 (c)(3) of the internal revenue code. Serving the communityin january 2012, louisiana medicaid began the coordinated care network (ccn). Chmpc clinics participate in all five of the different ccns. Physicians employed by chmpc demonstrate their commitment to the purpose of the corporation through numerous community activities. Chmpc employees are active in many educational forums including presentations at schools and community groups, serving as local board members, and disseminating information on various children's issues especially in the african-american communities. Kids first clinicskids first practices are fully staffed physician practices that are established in medically under-served neighborhoods throughout the city to serve the pediatric health care needs of the surrounding areas. Kids first tigercare practice was opened in march 2004 at 1661 canal street, in downtown new orleans. The clinic is a collaborative effort between chmpc and lsu healthcare network. The clinic is staffed by lsu pediatricians and serves as a training facility for lsu residents. Kids first tigercare experienced 5,999 visits in 2016, of which 91% were medicaid. Effective may 15, 2011, kids first westbank joined chmpc. Drs. Roselyn st etienne and stephanie arnaud staff the clinic located at 829 barataria blvd in marrero. In 2015 they had 7,123 patient visits, 73% are medicaid patients. Other clinics chmpc not only serves the needs of under served areas of the city of new orleans, but has also established other practices throughout the city to meet the pediatric health care needs of the entire community. Effective april 1, 1997, napoleon pediatrics joined chmpc. The clinic has seven physicians practicing in two locations both accessible by public transportation. The first location, 2633 napoleon avenue is in new orleans and the other at 3040 33rd street in metairie. The physicians are drs. Kirk bellard, sam solis, david estes, paul remedios, tammy senentz, michael heller and brandace hider. Patient visits in 2016 totaled 32,514 with 49% medicaid for both locations. Effective october 25, 1999, northlake pediatrics joined chmpc. The clinic is located on the north shore of lake pontchartrain at 725 w. 11th street in covington, la. Drs. Margaret strong, stephen mikell, myria mack-williams and robert faucheux see patients at this clinic. Patient visits in 2016 totaled 11,721 with 27% medicaid. Effective may 1, 2002, lakeside children's clinic joined chmpc. The clinic has six physicians practicing at 4740 s. I-10 service road in metairie. This practice is located next to tulane-lakeside hospital and is accessible by public transportation. The physicians are drs. Scott zander, elizabeth adams, keith kappel, claire neumann and katrina kellum, aprn. Patient visits were 17,815 with 44% medicaid for the year ending december 31, 2016. On may 1, 2002, physicians of river ridge joined chmpc. The clinic is located at 9605 jefferson highway in river ridge and is accessible by public transportation. The physician seeing patients at this location is janine lissard. Patient visits were 5,554 with 59% medicaid for the year ending december 31, 2016. On june 1, 2003, klein lawrence pediatrics joined children's hospital medical practice corporation. In july 2011, the clinic changed its name to pelican pediatric physicians. One office is located at 3100 kingman street, suite 110 in metairie and is accessible by public transportation. The second location is at 501 rue de sante, suite 13 in la place. Drs. Reita lawrence and jaime michel were joined by dr tami hinz in october 2013. 11,919 patients were seen, 39% medicaid, for the year ending december 31, 2016 for both locations. Effective july 1, 2004, ormond pediatric group joined chmpc. Two pediatricians, drs. Thomas babin and dolleen licciardi, staff ormond pediatric group. The clinic is located at 141 ormond center court in destrehan. In 2016, ormond pediatric group experienced 5,872 patient visits. As of this time, this clinic does not participate in louisiana medicaid. Effective january 1, 2006, metairie pediatrics joined chmpc. Drs. John barbara and mark morici, cary culbertson & paige oliver staff the clinic. Metairie pediatrics is located at 2201 veterans memorial boulevard, suite 300 in metairie and is accessible by public transportation. Patient visits were 20,752 in 2016 with 39% being medicaid. Effective august 4, 2014, chmpc opened the children's hospital after hours clinic at 3040 33rd street, in metairie. The clinic is open from 6pm - 10 pm monday - friday and noon - 10 pm on saturdays and 10 am - 10 pm on sundays. The clinic is staffed by drs. John firestone, karen kern and 4 aprns: michelle comboy, tracy parker, shalan randolph & sophia thomas. They offer all general pediatric services (with the exception of preventive care) and collaborates with the patients' primary care physician regarding the details of the visit. Patient visits in 2016 were 7,277 with 45% being medicaid. Effective july 1, 2015, chmpc opened the children's pediatrics - baton rouge clinic at 720 connell's park lane in baton rouge. The clinic is staffed by pamela shriver, aprn. Patient visits were 2,613 in 2016 with 84% being medicaid. Effective january 1, 2016, chmpc opened healthy lifestyles clinic at 3040 33rd street, in metairie. This clinic is open tuesday - friday 2pm - 6pm offering medical evaluations and ongoing services to patients with obesity using a multi-disciplinary team approach. Drs. John firestone and karen kern staff the clinic. Patient visits were 626 in 2016 with 65% being medicaid.
