Programs: Connect people to the chesapeake and its great rivers: the chesapeake conservancy creates, enhances, and sustains opportunities for all to explore the nature and history of the chesapeake. This is achieved by creating and enhancing public access sites and facilities along the captain john smith trail and the chesapeake bay's great rivers, and educating and engaging a broad diversity of citizens, from urban to rural areas, in the region's natural, cultural, and historic resources.
conserve special places, river corridors, and large landscapes in the chesapeake bay region: the chesapeake conservancy serves as a catalyst for the conservation of landscapes, shorelines, wildlife habitat and cultural resources in the chesapeake. This is achieved through delivering data, analysis, and planning, supporting public-private partnerships, and expanding funding that collectively produces conservation results. Our work resulted in new park, wildlife areas and recreation opportunities along the captain john smith trail.
advance conservation innovation in the chesapeake: the chesapeake conservancy enhances the efficiency and effectiveness of conservation practitioners by advancing the development of new science and technological applications to increase the pace of conservation in the chesapeake bay region.
