Causes: Family Planning, Health, Reproductive Rights
Mission: Carolina abortion fund supports individuals who have decided to have an abortion by providing funding and resource referrals.
Programs: Abortion assistance - caf operates a volunteer-run helpline where callers can leave messages 24 hours a day/7 days a week and volunteers return their calls. We receive an average of 20 calls per day and are able to fund approximately 15 callers per week with $100-300 grants toward abortion procedures. Funds are transferred directly to clinics once a month. Caf provided assistance to approximately 600 callers in the year ended june 30, 2017.
community outreach - caf staff and volunteers presented the "how to get an abortion in north carolina" toolkit to students at unc chapel hill and unc wilmington. We hosted film screenings and discussion panels for the local community in order to reduce abortion stigma and educate the community regarding abortion laws and restrictions in the united states.
reproductive justice - caf contracted sistersong, a reproductive justice organization, to lead racial justice and reproductive justice workshops for board members and volunteers. Caf staff and board members collaborated with other nonprofits in a cohort and worked to increase their knowledge and capacity regarding reproductive justice and intersecting issues that impact access to abortion care.
