Mission: Canine Therapy Corps, founded in 1991 as Chenny Troupe, Inc., is a volunteer driven animal-assisted therapy organization founded to bring therapeutic success to clients with physical and emotional challenges. By teaming certified therapy dogs, volunteer handlers and medical professionals, Canine Therapy Corps provides innovative, interactive exercises in a group setting, designed to accomplish each individual''s therapeutic goals. Canine Therapy Corps programs are provided free of charge to appropriate medical facilities. Canine Therapy Corps mission includes the development of model programs and research to establish the efficacy of animal assisted therapy as a valid adjunct therapy in both physical and psychosocial settings.
Programs: Canine Therapy Corps has developed programs that effectively support rehabilitation from a wide variety of physical and emotional problems. These include recovery from stroke, amputation, spinal cord injury, burns, brain injury, amputations;chronic conditions such as depression, cerebral palsy, communication, speech and behavioral disorders, Down's syndrome; and for children who are victims of abuse and young men and women in residential facilities recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. Each program is designed to meet the needs of the particular population to be served.
