Causes: Education, Parent & Teacher Groups
Mission: The briargrove elementary parent-teacher organization (pto) is organized for the following purposes:1. To promote the welfare of children in home, school, and community and to raise the standards of home life. 2. To bring into closer relationship the home and the school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intellectually in the education of children and youth. 3. To develop between the educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental and social education.
Programs: The briargrove elementary parent-teacher organization (pto) provides volunteers and raises funds to enhance school programs. Over 890 students attend briargrove elementary. All students benefit from pto sponsored activities. Grade level activities are as follows: 3rd grade students participated in the writers in the schools program. 4th grade students were sponsored by the pto to visit san antonio/alamo. 5th grade students participated in colonial day activities, also sponsored by the pto. The pto provides financial support for the following additional school programs: extended p. E. Program teachers' room fund visiting author professional development for teachers (training in newest learning strategies) workbooks for students enrichment teachers' fund teacher appreciation supplemental grounds maintenance and landscaping 2 xerox machines in the teacher workroom several hpd officers manage carpool traffic before and after school internation baccaluareate (ib) certification & support, counseling
