It is one of the most scalable sustainable organization that is making a huge impact in Rural India. The transparency of the organization is immense. the schools are run at the low cost of $1/day .. the best investment for your money
I have been an Ekal Donor cum volunteer for last 10 years . With less than the price of a coffee ☕️ a day we can provide free education to a needy kid which can sustain his family for years to come and bring them above the poverty and underprivileged life. I will definitely visit a Ekal school in Dec' 18 and also see the Gramothan program in action . Please donate dollar a day to sponsor a school to eradicate the village out of illeteracy forever. Jai Hind! Jai Ho ! Go EKAL !
VidyAdanam sarvadana pradAnam. I would encourage everyone to donate to the wonderful cause of enlightening a child's life.
If a child cannot get an education, the education must come to them - what a wonderful motto to aim for. Almost every dollar will go to benefit childrens education.
Ownership of change, Leadership, Accountability, Linking ones actions to the benefits of society at large, communication abilities to make an impact and taking up these among many more critical success factors at all levels of an organization with selfless ideals under challenged reality at execution level makes all who are supporting and driving a unique institution.
I am an Ekal school donor for last 10 years. 4 years back I visited monthly teacher training camp near Manthini in Telenaga. Also visited the school and talked to students. I couldn't be happier talking and listening to the kids. Amazing to see my small amount ($365 equals rough 20,000 in Rupees) can teach basic education to 20+ kids. Next year I doubled my donation and have been supportung 2 schools.
I visited Ekal schools in Rajasthan, Kerala and MP. I am amazed that under what condition, the Ekal teachers are providing education to the children. Personally interacted with children and found out that that math skills were far better than average children. They were well behaved and very appreciative of the interaction with city visitors
EKAL is a lively integration of enthusiastic volunteers all around the world, who strive for the betterment of the rural side of India.
Ekal Vidyalaya has brought change to thousands of families across India. By bringing education to those who cannot afford we are giving kids a chance to shine, a chance they deserve. The cool thing about Ekal is that they have fun ways to raise the money they use to educate children. They set up events that will benefit kids and adults and push them to learn. Ekal hosts events such as Math Bees, Robotics Camp, Appathons and much more. It's been a pleasure knowing that organizations like Ekal have been changing the world for the better by bringing children education and its been even better knowing that I am helping bring that change.
Excellent organization. Providing education to poor kids. Happy to be part of Ekal family.
Ekal Vidyalaya has been a grassroot movement bringing basic literacy and holistic development to remote and rural parts of India. Working effectively over past 25 years with a lost cost and repeatable model, it is bringing a steady change, giving hope to millions, changing the face of rural India! It is currently running over 70,000 single teacher schools across India. With its unique 'computer mobile van' it is bringing digital education as well. Other noteworthy programs include tailoring centers giving financial independence to women, and other unique projects.
This is one of the best Non - Profits that is making a real difference. It is a 25 year old organization bring education to very rural remote villages. Over 10 million children are educated in 53,000 villages. A very volunteer driven organization, it provides services to areas where no one goes. My experience with the organization has been spectacular.
My personal experience with Ekal has been nothing short of extreme joy. Nothing embodies the dharmic saying "Vidyadanam Mahaatpunyam" better than their concept of single teacher schools in the remotest parts of Bharat (India). Specifically, their zero overhead handling of any contributions and the extreme commitment of teachers (who are locals in the communities they teach) are the simplest examples of 'education going to the student when the student is unable to reach the education setup'.
