Mission: Breast Center of Acadiana Foundation, a non-profit community outreach organization, promotes and provides holistic services that minister to the mind, body, and soul to improve health enhance quality of life before and after breast cancer.
Programs: This project is in the planning stages and we are hopeful that in the next 2 years we can bring this valuable program to the Acadiana area.Provide screening mammography services to women in rural areas of Acadiana where state-of-the-art technology is not available. The equipment needed for this program is a mobile unit equipped with digital mammography technology that would travel to local communities and provide screening mammography services. Services rendered to uninsured and underinsured women would be funded through this program. Data indicates that women will not travel more than 20 miles for a screening procedure. They also feel more comfortable having a procedure performed in their own community setting.The images taken would be interpreted by Dr. Gary Mathews, breast imaging specialist. Any follow-up procedures would be coordinated through this program in partnership with other local organizations.
