Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Arts & Culture, Film & Video, International, International Migration & Refugee Issues, Judaism, Religion

Mission: Beach Street Educational Films Foundation was founded November 1999 and incorporated on July 7, 2000. We are organized for patriotic and educational purposes to record and preserve the living histories of Jewish veterans of World War II, with a focus on refugees from Europe who subsequently served in the war against Nazi Germany. Our present purpose is two-fold: 1) to produce "About Face," a feature-length video documentary on Jewish refugees who escaped Germany and Austria between 1933-1941 and fought against the Nazis with the U.S. and Allied Armed Forces in Europe and North Africa; and 2) to create a visual/oral history archive of interviews with all Jewish veterans who served with the Allies in all World War II theatres. Our intent is to disseminate the documentary widely: to educational and religious institutions, veterans' groups, and public and commercial television networks in the U.S. and abroad. Our visual/oral history archive will be available for public research.
