Mission: The mission of be-a-friend program, inc. Commonly referred to as big brothers big sisters of erie, niagara and the southern tier is to provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Programs: Be a friend program, inc, big brothers/sisters program was founded in 1971 as one of over 300 affiliates of the national big brothers/big sisters of america. The goal of the agency is to place positive adult role models into the lives of youth in the hopes of improving their self-esteem and enhancing their chances of success in the future. This is accomplished by asking volunteers, under the supervision of the agency's professional staff, to develop a relationship with the child based on trust, communication and concern. Be a friend program, inc. Served 471 youth during 2017.
