The B-36 Peacemaker Museum is only one of 3 museums that make up the Fort Worth Aviation Museum, the others being the OV-10 Bronco Association and the Forward Air Controller's Museum. Working together they preserve the history of aviation in north Texas since 1911, inspiring our youth to consider aviation, math, science and education as future careers. Young and old learn to appreciate our areas extraordinary contribution of aviation to north Texas and the world. The stories related by docents who have lived the experiences shown on monitors, models, and life size exhibits are just phenomenal. Over 25 full size aircraft are on display on the grounds where visitors can get up close and personal, and even occupy some exhibited aircraft. The exhibits are continually changing as one aircraft after another is restored by a great team of volunteers and moved to the display area. Inside the docents who lived the stories of Vietnam, the cold war, and recent insurgencies put their personal touch on the stories presented. The history of the Bomber Plant #4, now Lockheed, is pictured along with an array of all aircraft built there since its inception in the 1940s. Vietnam comes to life with relics of the jungle and air combat of the era. Early aviation is highlighted and First Flight Park in Fort Worth is sponsored by the museum along with numerous historical markers around the area. First Flight Park is the location of the first powered flight originated in Fort Worth. The Fort Worth Aviation Museum is the epitome of non profits, freely and eagerly serving the community and living up to its slogan of preserve, inspire, and educate! Don't miss the chance to visit if you are in or near Fort Worth, it is well worth the effort.
