Mission: Mission:gather community, support the arts and delight the spirit. In fy 12-13, augustana arts' combined programs reached approximately 10,000 members of the general public. We provided 20 concerts with performances ranging from internationally acclaimed, highly professional touring artists to programs featuring side-by-side mentoring experiences with emerging youth performers. Additionally, recitals were held to showcase the accomplishments of students from our subsidized youth music education program. Master class/residence rehearsals, school appearances and workshops were provided to over 1,000 students between boulder and aurora, colorado and over 2,000 tickets were made available to less fortunate people in the community to share the power of uplifting arts performances.
Programs: Msco held 9 concerts serving 4,000 members of the public at venues in denver, jefferson and boulder. Musicians also appeared elsewhere for underserved audiences. Msco led two major collaborations: first, performing side-by-side with and mentoring 350+ high school students for 1200 audience members which positioned an encore concert at the buell theatre with attendance of 1600+. Second was a multi-disciplinary, interactive concert with and at the denver art museum which served over 500 people.
city strings youth music education: the city strings program provides subsidized music instruction to at-risk children in low-income neighborhoods, granting these children access to life-changing opportunities through music education. City strings provided: a) 220 lessons to over 90 school age children, b) 5 community performances, entertaining over 800 parents/families, students & teachers, c) 11 annual recitals for more than 400 family members, teachers and community members.
presented concert seriesaugustana arts presents smaller, but dynamic, local groups as well as regional, national and internationally renowned groups and individuals. Colorado womens chorale is a member organization. Among the perennial favorites are kantorei choir & unc chorus. International stars voces8 and chanticleer were amoung the groups presented by augustana arts through this series. Over 600 attended chanticleer and attendance at the others averaged between 250 and 450 people.
