Mission: We provide high-quality cultural programming responsive to the current moment. By exhibiting challenging, provocative and innovative contemporary art from around the nation and occasionally from abroad, in a non-commercial setting, we provide a setting for community discourse on important issues of mutual interest. In addition, we mount affiliated events such as films, lectures, readings, performances and panel discussions, contributing to the stimulating and enjoyable aspects of the exhibitions themselves. These programs are created for the cultural enrichment of the Northeast Georgia residents (though visitors from farther afield travel to attend) As a non-profit institution without state or federal support we are under no pressure to censor content. We hear often how much that aspect of our Mission means to both exhibitors and audience, both of whom who greatly value the freedom of expression ATHICA is a forum for.
