Mission: Afp is an individual membership association advancing philanthropy through education, training and advocacy based on research, a code of ethical principles and standards of professional practice. The southwest florida chapter is committed to growing professionalism and diversity among its membership, increasing the opportunities and resources provided to our members, and celebrating the philanthropic heritage of the sarasota/manatee community.
Programs: Education * promotion of certified fundraising executives and continual education seminars on expanding fundraising opportunities, ethics, etc.
recognition of outstanding volunteers and philanthropists* the chapter hosted its 32nd annual national philanthropy day luncheon in november 2017 to honor outstanding philanthropists in our community. Thirty five were honored and 400 people attended the luncheon.
professional development for afp members and non members: the chapter provided 12 professional development opportunities in 2017, including:* fundraisers forum: a half-day conference in collaboration with the community foundation of sarasota county attended by more than 150 people* a year long program with junior professionals meeting with senior professionals for advice and guidance. * monthly luncheons featuring eleven speakers on a wide range of topics regularly attended by 45-75 individuals* planet philanthropy: 4-6 chapter members serve in leadership roles on the florida caucus each year to plan and present the annual statewide professional development conference, attended by more than 350 people.
other service programs include the chapter job bank and collaborative workshops.
