Programs: Summary of key results for 20171. Bilingual education program, phase 21. 1. Results: two teacher training sessions on bilingual pedagogical strategies for 101 teachers and 98 school directors 21 special pedagogical days (3x7 regions)to focus on suitable solutions to difficulties encountered by bilingual teachers. 9 community fora and 5 training sessions for school management committees, involving parents and other community members. Observation visits to classes in 40 schools in the project area evaluation of competencies in reading and math, having trained 25 evaluators to gather test results production and distribution of 17,573 textbooks2. Bilingual education program, phase 3:2. 1 results: creating of teaching texts by a 3-person team of experts in the target languages training of 23 regional and local education inspectors,principals, and teachers directly implicated in the phases 3 trials, focusing on the bilingual methodology in vocabulary, writing, grammar and use of verbs. 955 copies of texts in two local target languages, workbooks, and teacher guides, written, printed and distributed to schools and students. 3. Reading nation - campaign: production and distribution of 446,000 texts for 262,882 elementary school students in three of the national regions. Included: 28 different books titles in french, wolof and pulaar languages. 4. National program - reading for all: ared was the lead organization in a team creating pedagogic materials for elementary students, including learning materials, teacher training guides in three national languages, a coaching model and training over 150 education leaders in four regions of the country. 5. Formal and non-formal education:regional training of local change agents working in livestock-animal raising and marketing in 5 countries in the sahel region of west africa, working with five donor organizations5. 1 results: creation and implementation of training module on livestock mobility in west africa, for 19 participants. Printing and distribution of 73 training guides implentation of 7 working sessions for over 150 beneficiaries during the year, plus another over 50 trainers supported in their own sessions, for 137 more participants thus, a total of 373 local herders involved in ared sessions, and another 2500 participated in sessions led by ared-trained local leaders.
