A Journey of Transformation: My Experience with Women’s Protection Center Nepal
Volunteering for the Women’s Protection Center Nepal has been nothing short of life-changing. Before arriving, I had no idea what to expect—no sense of the profound impact this journey would have on my perspective, my heart, and my sense of purpose. I leave here humbled, enriched, and forever changed.
The Women’s Protection Center Nepal is a beacon of hope, tirelessly dedicated to protecting and empowering neglected and disadvantaged children. Their work provides not just immediate shelter and safety, but also a vision for a brighter future through education, technical assistance, and unwavering support.
Seeing their commitment up close has been deeply moving. The smiles of the children, their resilience, and the hope that blossoms through the center’s efforts are living proof of the power of compassion and dedication. I am endlessly grateful to have had the opportunity to play even a small role in supporting their mission.
To anyone considering a similar journey—do it. Step into the unknown, and you may just discover a new depth of humanity, empathy, and connection. The Women’s Protection Center Nepal reminds us all of the impact we can make when we come together for a shared purpose.

The WPC Nepal is a wonderful organization with a BIG heart! As a BOARD member and safe home volunteer in 2019, our family was blessed to see first-hand all this small, but mighty organization, is doing for women and children one day and one life at a time! We are impressed at the generosity and caring of the children by the staff and the family environment which nurtures these children to complete school and follow their dreams! We are grateful for the safe home's outreach programs which include vocational programs to help women start sewing/tailoring shops in their communities and child education sponsorships that allow children to get valuable contribution while safely living with their parents. I highly recommend connecting this organization where you can personally make an impactful difference as a donor, sponsor, volunteer or supporter in the US or Nepal. Visit their website and ask to speak to a BOARD member for more information on how to become involved! Nameste !
I had the honor and privilege to come and serve at the WPC safehome in Hetauda with four other people from Seattle, Washington. We were welcomed with scarves and dance moves. The young girls and women were all warm in the ways they served us during our stay. The words that come to mind when I think of this organization is HOPE, FAMILY, and HANDS-ON. It’s been so refreshing to experience the culture of Nepal and learn about the threat of human trafficking for these young girls. I am so glad that there is such an exchange of service and learning and growth when partnering with this organization and it’s so clear to see the good work they are doing in the lives of these Nepali women. Thank you Friends of WPC!
I had a great experience volunteering with WPC in Nepal several years ago. The staff truly care about the children and they are so well looked after. They are making a huge difference in their lives and in the community. A fantastic organisation!
“WPC Nepal is the Foundation created by the strong bond of love and hope to give bright success.” I'm Aarati Bogati from Hetauda Makwanpur. I grew up in the safe home of WPC Nepal and it has been 10 years living here with my second family. I’m greatly thankful and blessed to spend my childhood in the safe home with my lovely and outstanding friends with a lot of memories that I feel blessed to remember still now. They provided each and every small need that I had and they always sought out new opportunities for us. The home is mixed of various castes and languages where each and every person is treated the same and not discriminated against for their caste and race. Everyone loves and encourages each other for more success. Thank you WPC Nepal for your great work and help in motivating me to make a better way for my future. I want to recommend everyone to visit once to our WPC Nepal to know how they have impacted many children’s lives to dream big and make a better way for their future in the society by their own. And in future I also have a vision to help my organization to make the safe home children’s life more impactful in the society.
Thank you WPC Nepal!
A group of amazing people with true passion for helping the people around them. They were so welcoming to all of us volunteers. Hearing their mission and watching a presentation on human trafficking was truly inspiring. I hope this review is the little push into looking into WPC Nepal. They deserve your attention and any support you can give them.
What an absolutely amazing place! They’re making huge differences in the lives of so many women and children. I spent two weeks volunteering with them and getting to know all the children and people who live in and around the home. It was a life changing experience and I can’t wait to go back and continue helping out.
Some of the greatest people I’ve ever met! After spending time with the folks at friends of WPC Nepal, I learned more about their mission and values, and working to help them have been some of my most treasured memories. They are all dedicated to their work, as well as caring people. They spend all their time in the pursuit of helping others in need. My time with them was such a blessing and I hope I get to help out when I am older!

I have a small non-profit organization dedicated to caring for trafficked children internatioanlly. I discovered Friends of WPC Nepal from researching organizations with this same mission. I am honored to be a donor for Friends of WPC. I am highly impressed with their dedication to the children and women. They have proved to be clearly more than a safe home for this population. They are a family. The love and care they give to each individual is the love and care they have and would want for their own children. They are on a mission to resore what was lost in each child and to fulfill their original created destiny. As the cildren mature and the young women are launched into adulthood this organization participates in training programs to help the women be self-sustaining and to give back to their community. This organization is well organized yet flexible to evolving needs. I highly recommend donating towards this mission in caring for the most vulnerable children of Nepal.
I had an amazing experience in 2015 working with WPC Nepal. They are doing incredible work to keep women and girls safe. It was an honor to witness the care this organization has provided for Nepal.
Friends of WPC Nepal is an incredible program that has touched so many hearts, including mine. The work that they are doing is life changing for so many women and young girls, and is an inspiration for all who know of the program. All of the staff here have such a heart for service, as well as caring for the girls as much as they can.
The safehome in Nepal does an incredible job in equipping the girls with the resources that they need to succeed in their future. They are given so many skils such effective studying, interpersonal skills, and empathy just to name a few. All of the girls are so cheerful and energetic, and this wouldn't be possible without the safe environment that Friends of WPC provides.
When hosted by the safehome, it felt like such a peaceful and refreshing environment. The house parents are so understanding and caring for the volunteers, and it really makes you feel at home. The interactions I have had with all of the staff has brought me so much happiness, and I am so glad that these are the people that are taking care of the girls.
The girls that are staying at the safehome are very outgoing and playful, and love to meet new people. They are always striving for knowledge, and look forward to meeting new people are learning about them. For anyone who is interesting in joining or supporting this program, I would highly recommend that they do so.
The work that Friends of WPC Nepal is doing is essential to the growth and development in our world, and I am so glad that I got the opportunity to help and interact with this wonderful non-profit.
This organization Helps girls that are risk of being trafficked and provides education, shelter, food also provides different types of vocational training for women to start their own small businesses.
My experience with this organization has been very positive and an eye opening venture to help the youth and women in need of support. The staffs were very friendly and genuine with the heart of giving hospitality. This non profit has strong presence of God which is the foundation and pillar of this organization.
Thank you,

Friends of WPC Nepal is an amazing organization run by wonderful people who truly care about what they do and do it well. It's an honor to support them.
I spent the month of July, 2018 at the Women’s Protection Center in Hetauda, Nepal. It is an amazing place serving women and children and providing them with educational opportunities and stability and routines in their lives that they would not otherwise have. Given that Nepal is one of our poorest countries on our globe, this place is doing incredible and much needed work.
I am so glad to have been connected with WPC. I can attest to the kindness and helpfulness of the Seattle staff, as well as the warmth and hospitality of the Safe Home family. This organization carries out its mission with pride and is growing because of it. I was able to volunteer with WPC in Nepal for almost two months and would gladly do it again. When I was seeking an organization to volunteer with abroad, Friends of WPC stood out to me because of its direct roots to the Safe Home in Nepal. I didn't feel like I was paying some distant middleman entity that overcharged and sent folks off to "volunteer" without actually serving the community's needs. With WPC Nepal I was able to see firsthand the impact being made by the nonprofit, which is very important to me. The most valuable experiences I had with WPC were working directly with the girls living at the home. The organization also does tremendous work in the community: sponsoring children beyond the Safe Home, providing vocational training for women, and spreading awareness. As a proponent for education and human rights, this is a wonderful organization to support.
Thank you, WPC!
At WPC Nepal, you can be sure your support will significantly improve the lives of women and children in Nepal. WPC Nepal is a compassionate organization that is devoted to caring for and rehabilitating children who have been victims of human trafficking or who have come from unstable, abusive homes. Their work doesn’t stop there; they also provide vocational training for women seeking to support themselves and their families and they provide local families with the money they need to send their children to school.
As a volunteer at the WPC Safe Home in Nepal, I have seen first-hand WPC’s commitment to providing a better future for the children they support. Not only are the children able to grow up in a loving, safe and healthy environment, but they are also able to attend a private school and receive extra tutoring if they need it.
It can be a bit chaotic at times in a home full of children, but I was able to see the love and support that each child, as well as the staff, provides for one another in everything they do. Whether they are playing, getting ready for school, studying or preparing dinner, they act as a family and always make sure that everyone’s needs are met.
By supporting WPC, you are providing children the critical experience of being part of a stable and cohesive family, enabling them to overcome the pain of their former circumstances and continue toward a happier and more productive life. Your support will also empower women and children in the local community though education and vocational training.
WPC have a mission to empower and improve the lives of women and children who are from disadvantaged backgrounds, at risk of being trafficked or survivors of trafficking.I have just spent two weeks at the WPC Safe Home in Hetauda with all of the beautiful staff and children. I have been following the work of similar organizations for the past few years and was interested to visit an organization and see for myself the programs they were implementing and the progress they were making. I contacted WPC and heard back from them straight away, so began to plan my trip. When I arrived I immediately noticed how full of love this house felt. Everyone was so welcoming and I was made to feel a part of the family right away. I was shocked to learn of the extent of the tragedies these children had been through and amazed by their resilience and where they are today. They are confident, happy, capable children who are given the opportunity to attend a private school and speak three languages! They are able to be children again and laugh and play and not worry about where their next meal is coming from- something every child should be entitled to. WPC also run trafficking awareness programs in rural villages to educate them on the risks of sending their children away for work and the implications of trafficking. Not only that, they also have a vocational training program to train women from disadvantaged backgrounds/survivors of trafficking to become tailors so they are able to live independently and with a skill that will bring them a stable income. Beyond it's safe home, WPC also sponsor many community children so that they are able to attend school and receive an education and even rebuilt some schools in areas affected by the earthquake. I really cant commend the WPC team enough for their efforts thus far at providing countless women and children with the opportunity for a brighter future!
WPPC Nepal is based on a personal experience of its founder who is from Nepal. As a child she watched her friends disappear into the trafficking network. She has founded an organization that provides shelter and schooling for girls that they save from trafficking.
Now they are raising funds because of the nightmarish earthquake. It has damaged their facility, but they are also raising funds for people in villages who are not getting as much support as in Katmandhu.
I know that this organization will spend the money carefully and without overhead expenses.
Support the victims of the earthquake by contributing to them.

A great organization that dedications 110% of its time and effort to the women and children living in the safe house. I am honored that I was able to do my senior project in association with WPPC Nepal!
I am humbled by the truly lifesaving work performed so humbly by Ms. Lila Ghising and the entire staff at WPPC Nepal. I have twice taken groups of high school students from the US to work with the children in the safe home. We have attended their schools, participated in human rights and trafficking awareness campaigns, and supported their job creation programs in sewing and jewelry making.
The children in the home are not only given educational opportunities that they would not otherwise have, but they are also given the skills to pursue meaningful work as they complete school. Visitors to the home provide exposure to options beyond what they have seen in their few years prior to coming to the safe home.
I cannot applaud the WPPC enough for all they do.

WPPC Nepal is an organization whose commitment delivers real results and their positive impact on survivors of human trafficking is truly heartwarming to see. They provide a safe home where survivors can rehabilitate and reintegrate into society, and they also help raise awareness on how to combat the epidemic of human trafficking. Being a small organization focused on Nepal, your efforts as a volunteer and donations skip the red-tape and overhead of a large organization and go straight to the heart of the problem, and help these real people get their lives back.
WPPC Nepal is run by honest, wonderful people who truly care about assisting survivors of trafficking. The safe home offers food, shelter, medical care and vocational training to women and children. I have consistently volunteered with this organization for 3 years and I have nothing but good things to say!
I have worked with this organization and have seen them progress over the years which has been a truly rewarding experience for me. I started working with them in 2011 at their fundraiser, which then progressed to later in 2012, in August when I went to volunteer at their safe home in Nepal for 9 months.
Oh where do I even begin? There are multiple children there who I've literally seen transform in their behavior from when they first came to when I see them now.
Literally, a young girl who was 3 1/2 years old was rescued off the streets where her father and brother would let her roam aimlessly in a skirt without underwear. She had burn marks all over her legs from her father and brother, along with a gaping wound on her knee that took a bit of time to get a handle on. She also would kick and scream obscene words in Nepali that would be equivalent to cursing in the English language. Another huge thing, how much this child could eat was insane, there was actually a joke that she was a goat because she just kept going and going. Of course, the reason behind that was no laughing matter, she wasn't used to having food being accessible to her, so she took every opportunity.
Throughout time, she got better, literally, within a month you saw results. Her appetite came under control and she didn't use the awful words she once would. This was probably out of the example of the other children. She is such a talker too, we'd lay together, take naps, and she would tell me stories. Those are moments I'd never be able to get back and wish I could spend my days living.
With this organization, women/children are taken in either prevention of human trafficking or they have been part of that already. It's crazy to know the pain of their past but the brightness of their future and the hope in their eyes. It's one of those things that make you feel utterly giddy and happy, to the point where you'd do anything to help out. They also provide vocational training for women which is a 4-6 month training period for sewing where at the graduation, they're given a sewing machine so they can support themselves. I've seen many girls graduate and go to teach others, or get a grant for advanced training. It's absolutely amazing to see the changes that can be made from simply reaching out your hand to someone who needs it. There is also a jewelry making project which I helped put together and was my main project which was to teach women to make hand make jewelry with quality stone, seeds, rose wood, etc.. This is another form of employment that has been created and it warms my heart that something that could be found so simple to me, a hobby, could turn into something so huge for another.
My life has been changed due to my experiences with this organization. I was 19 years old when I went to the safe home, I learned how to be a role model for all the young eyes looking up at me, I gained compassion for the horrific stories I will never begin to understand and learned how to stretch out my hand fully with all I have to offer on the table without asking for anything in return. It has all made me a truly stronger, wiser, and more compassionate human being and I couldn't be more thankful for that.
The founder, Lila Ghising is a truly amazing individual who has given me a lot of a guidance and is a close friend of mine to this day. With her background and where she came from, it's amazing to see how far she has come, which has been primarily driven from wanting to help change the horrible reality of human trafficking. Her story, which I won't spill for you is truly a strong one and she is a strong woman who I will stand by for as long as I can. I met her in September of 2011 and I would have never guessed where I would be now after meeting her that first time but I couldn't be happier to see the progress.
WPPC and Lila have both taught me a valuable lesson which is actually WPPC's slogan. "Changing lives one woman, one child at a time." I've never understood that slogan as much as I do now and that continues to grow every passing day. You CAN make a change, it doesn't have to be the whole world, it just has to be one and it makes all the difference.
Oh also, I'd just like to add on, I still go there every year and hopefully that'll continue through the years as a chaperon for Tacoma School of the Arts (where I graduated from in 2011). Infinite possibilities open up when you put yourself out there, just watch and see what happens. :) You'll be amazed and your heart will be fulfilled.
