Mission: To improve the general well-being and education of the asian pacific islander and other ethnic communities and promote, foster, champion and advocate for asian american and pacific islanders in nevada.
Programs: Community programs - the programs include voter education, health education, pathway to citizenship and translation services. Acdc has collaborated to get more asian and pacific islander communities engaged with getting out to vote so that they are not missing their voice at the table.
youth programs - the programs include workforce development, leadership training, college preparation and mentorship. In partnership with cox communications and several community food vendors mcdonalds, panda express, and island sushi, acdc and cox developed 3 week summer program for high school and college students about the ethics of leadership and how to become a better leader. Each session was 5 hours and was developed to be interactive and had a guest speaker brought in to talk about key parts of leadership. Students who attended have developed a unique understanding of ethical decisions and how to build effective teams. The organization also hosted the 2nd annual community fundraiser for the asian pacific islander american scholarship fund who is the only nonprofit organization in the united states that provides scholarships specifically for asian american and pacific islander students for pursuing a college degree.
senior programs - the programs include senior referrals, educational programs, tax preparation assistance program, and driver safety course. It reminded and informed people for the health insurance enrollment for the period from november 1 through december 15. On november 19, 2017, it held the 2nd annual health wellness fair with apia healthcare providers offering free screenings and healthcare enrollment. On march 11, 2017, the first health and resource fair was launched. The goal was to provide the asian american and pacific islander free health service and education of health program available in nevada. The organization also partnered with aarps foundation tax aid program to provide a valuable service to the community for the tax season. The staff went through a week long certification program involving hours of learning the new software for tax return preparation and the tax codes for some of the younger staff members.
