My name is Juan Perez F.I.T is a great program that has helped me to achieve and reach new goals that I thought were out of reach.I was enrolling in getting my CDL. Since day one when I entered the program everything was very well explained to me with no hidden agendas. Once I received my case worker Tamara Garcia she helped me to find which program would best fit my life style. Tamara was in constant contact with me through out the whole process and encouraging me on my journey which really gave the feeling that her and this organization cared. Made me feel like I wasn’t just a case to them but more so we were a family. I recently graduated from CDL class and have my class A license now. I have been representing Cashman Photo as a board member of FIT for nearly two decades. Over the years, I have witnessed the effect FIT can have on the unemployed and underemployed.
Some arrive at FIT’s doors truly lost. Job boards at their old workplace, classified ads, and employment agencies have all let them down. Job fairs were overwhelming and filled with applicants more qualified and better prepared. They often find themselves on some form of public assistance and it becomes difficult to confidently reassure their families that everything will be alright.

They arrive at FIT with their burdens, obstacles, and very little hope for a brighter future. They meet a caseworker that treats them like a real person and is interested in who they are, what they can do, and what they hope to be. A short time later, once their burdens have been lifted and obstacles brushed aside, their tiny bit of hope has become a reality. They have more than just another job that allows them to scrape by. They have a career with real earning potential and all the pride and confidence that comes with it. These people and their families are truly transformed.

Through our years supporting with FIT, I have seen this happen for hundreds of families and it has truly been a great privilege to witness each and every time. FIT helps people gain the skills needed to find and keep a great job, and they help employers get great results. They help people get off of public assistance and restore their ability to contribute to the economy. They restore pride and offer a secure future for families.

Attended all classes for the CDL program provided at the site. Went to take my test at the DMV and the trucks did not work. It’s been weeks and I still have not been able to move forward. Finally after weeks of waiting I was told I have to go to another school and start over. My family is being negatively impacted by how long the process has taken. This program is unorganized and unprofessional.

This is Walter Dickenson. I graduated October of 2022. Im employed now. The process wasn’t too bad. If you really want it you’ll stick to it. Nothing in life comes east. With the help of my case manager Jordan and the job developer everything went smoothly. I was employed quickly after training. I’m very happy and plan on referring all my friends and family here.

Im in job readiness with the instructor Mr.Gavin. He is great. I’m so exited to go through the process and try to do the CDL training. Shout out to Ms.Renee at the front desk she’s the sweetest and very welcoming. Keep that smile!

Shame on me for not trying this program first. I went to another non-profit that claims very similar help with people that has backgrounds but let me tell you. I wasted so much time at the other place. As soon as I got done with the orientation here I knew I was gonna be treated right. All the staff have always been so damn nice. The front desk woman make you feel excited to be in the building. THIS IS THE PLACE! If you actually really really want to start a REAL career go here! Im 2 weeks out on starting my Forlift and Osha training, im so excited already got a job lined up too.

I just got released from jail a couple weeks ago. I actually heard about this place while I was locked up. They had people from FIT up at the jail and talking to us. That's really why I came here. It seems like they really care. Imma try to get my CDL so I can be a truck driver. I just finished the first 2 weeks of job readiness classes. We had w cute lil ceremony and got 2 certificates. I got really close to my classmates, we are all pushing each other to stick to the program and a success story. Hella excited to get my career started. I would recommend this place to anyone especially people who have criminal backgrounds. Yall are not alone.

Jennifer is my case manager and she is great. She has been very patient throughout my whole process. I couldn't decide what training to do and she helped narrow it down to Phlebotomy. I went to the school upstairs which was convenient as well. I'm almost done with my training I'm so excited to start working as a Phlebotomist.

I have to say that FIT helped me so much. I thought I had met the ends. No one seemed to want to hire a felon. I went to FIT and explained my hardship and my case manager was super motivating. She helped me decide to get into the CDL industry. It took time and dedication but im so thankful for her and FIT.

My time with FIT has been amazing, from the first day I walked in the door I was treated with nothing but love and respect. I have 2 weeks left of the phlebotomy program and it has been amazing. They have helped me get my career started and have been with me helping the whole time. My case manager tamara and my instructor has been the BEST & has made this whole process worth it! I couldn’t have done it without either of them! By far one of the best places to go, recommend it to everyone!

After spending 10+ years working in one field, I hadn’t created or updated any resume. Gavin and Casey helped me to present my work experience and human capital in an effective and organized way. Now I am confident that any employer reading my rapsheet will find I am a viable option to compete for a position.

Being unemployed is so taxing on an individual not only due to having a lack of funds and resources to sustain themselves and their families. But it is also psychologically taxing by having to go through the application process over and over with no end in sight. Hello, my name is Lannie B. I was recently a participant in the services of F.I.T.
Due to the pandemic my employment was ended and I had been out of work for 5 months . I needed a different industry to find employment since my previous industry had been severely impacted by COVID-19. I heard of Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow and paid them a visit. I was warmly greeted by staff and given an informative orientation about their services for people in need of employment. I was introduced to Rita Spearman who would become my lead case manager. Rita’s compassion was palpable and her professionalism about me needing help was appreciated. Rita quickly went through my employment history and we discussed plausible transitions into new industries or perhaps an industry I had been apart of in the past. Professional Driving was an occupation that I had experience in but I had currently lacked the necessary license to re-enter the trucking world . Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow helped me get retrained and relicensed. Thanks to them I was able to transition through the lost of employment from the pandemic.

This is a great program they help with finding work in these hard times of a pandemic. They help you with training or certain certifications for you to have a career. The social workers are also great very patient and understanding. 5 start program!

I would like to share a few of my experiences with FIT. My name is Mark and I have lived in Las Vegas for four years now. I was introduced to FIT through a previous Case Manager upon my release from Prison back in 2017. He informed me they could help me find employment or even help pay for a Trade. I enrolled and completed the orientation process. They helped me create a resume and fill out applications for employment. I was hired soon after and am working full time as a chef. Fast forward to now I am still currently employed with the same employer, but was interested in picking up a trade. So I reached back out to fit and explained to them I was interested in pursuing a career in trucking. I was accepted back and was introduced to Tameya my new case manger. She informed me that I would need a CDL license which they could fund and even place me in the next available class. Tameya helped me tremendously! From helping me update my resume, giving me study guides to help me with the tests, and the whole overall process of what its going to take to obtain the CDL. I am so grateful for the help that FIT has provided me with, and for helping me establish a career that is going to be life changing. Thanks to Tameya and the whole staff for all you have done.

I want to recommend F.I.T to the fullest. They helped me get into a trade school. And fully funded it. Not only that,they also supplied me with gas gift cards to make sure I could get to class daily.. On Christmas they gave my family and I gift cards and alot of toys for my kids. Very thankful for this place.

This program has given me a completely new outlook on life. I now have been given the tools to get a job just like anyone else. I was taught here that my past doesn’t define who I am and shouldn’t prevent me from getting what I want most out of life. That staff is amazing! I felt like they personally all cared for me and was willing to help me without any judgment or anything.

Great experience so far. They definitely help you with anything you need. The only things is communication. If you are not on top of your case manger and contacting them your opportunities will be lower. Multiple opportunities are based on deadlines so just stay on top.

initially I was required to participate in the FIT program as a condition of my parole and as I continued the program I've learned job readiness skills that I did not possess prior to FIT. I have obtained 4 certifications that I never would've possessed without this program. I love that there's so many caring people here that want to see and help you succeed. Well I was sent to FIT through another organization because they could not assist me with getting vouchers for employment. The very same day I was sent to FIT, they told they could help. I filled out the application and in just a few minutes I was signing my approved documents with my case manager Ms. Raquel. I really am grateful for the assistance.

I heard about Fit from my friend. I am married and have 3 kids. I do'nt have job at this time. I was trained CNA in 2013 and have got my licence. How ever my licence is expired now. I was tried to renew my licence and reques the nursing bord staff to assist me, but nobody helping me. At this time Fit give me the opportunity to start the CNA class and i will renew my licence again. I am so happy to be here and i would like to thank you my case manager to forword me on the truk. I heard about FIT through a friend and the program has been amazing. I was assigned a case manager, Raquel, who then walked me through step by step. Training, certification, and job placement. I highly recommend FIT to anyone that wants to better their life and find a superior job.

They helped me make my resume and apply for jobs in the field I wanted. I wanted to apply for jobs only in warehouse. I went to resume class and job club. The case managers there were real helpful and patient.

I was so grateful because Nazin Hernandez (my case manager) from One stop Career & Ms. Raquel L. (FIT), really worked together and communicated with me in order to get a school grant for my Phlebotomy program. They were both patient, professional and offered everything that they can do to help.

I had recently lost my job and was hired on the contingent offer that I got a guard card. With all my money spent on last month's rent and no income, I searched for any type of assistance and sure behold this wonderful program at fit. They not only helped me enroll into tech classes, but they paid for my guard card, shoes, fingerprinting and even gave me assistance with gas so I can get around. I am so appreciative of this place and would recommend it to anybody in need of assistance. Thank you Raquel for helping get back on track

FIT helped me so much. I'd been told over and over that I couldn't get a "real"
Job because of my background. But FIT paid for me to get trained as a phlebotomist and now I'm working full time, making enough to pay all my bills. My Case Manager helped me figure out which direction I should go. The whole staff was very nice and supportive. I can't say enough about the place.

Raquel is my case manager and she has been a great case manager. She had me enrolled in the CNA program. And Ms. Becky who is the instructor has so much passion in her job. I have learned a lot. I was referred to Foundation for an Independent tomorrow by a friend, as I has some issues in finding employment due to my past history. I attended their job readiness classes, put together a resume and met with a case manager. I was shown various training programs that met with my career goals of becoming a cook. Because of the organization, I was able to attend the culinary academy sharpen my cooking and prep skills, and today I hold the position of Chef working on the Las Vegas Strip (Beer Park). I am making a really good wage and because of this have been able to purchase a car, and rent a 1 bedroom place. Thanks to FIT for all they have done for me.

I have been a member of staff at FIT for several months now and I can see the strong dedication to helping the community in my colleagues every day. They truly care about their clients and seeing them succeed. It's an honor to work alongside them.

Difficult staff members who procrastinate and don't follow up with job placement opportunities.

It would be nice if this place would actually have job listings posted on their website, they have outdated job fairs and basically nobody seems to care about how hard it is for a person with a criminal background to find work. I am disappointed to even say this is one of the only choices for people like myself to find something on the web to earn income. Regret wasting my time checking this so-called job placement team out!

The main female manager I was reporting to denied funding for school due to "marketable skills". She was very rude, not knowledgeable, and exposed my personal information via email with my ID and other information unsecurely emailed in plain text that would violate most non-profit policy. I have complained to their staff who refused to resolve the issue as well. They don't list their legal dept because they lack one.

I will never recommend this rancid group to anyone seeking full time employment.

These low class case managers cuss like sailors! I really expected professional but lost.

These people came off as racist. I left here and tried hope 4 P. Much better program. Don't come here if you on Parole or Probation. They don't give you good time credit for this fraud scam of a non-profit

I have been a board member at FIT for many years and have consistently been proud to be involved with an extraordinary group of people accomplishing extraordinary results for unemployed and underemployed motivated clients. Every penny raised goes to provide vocational testing and training of clients, all officers and board members serve without pay and in fact pay for the opportunity to serve. FIT's success rate is unmatched in this segment, and is a direct result of the daily interaction with clients that has always separated FIT from other vocational training providers.

I want to thank this place for helping me who don't know how to use a computer write a resume. I've been in a cave to the world and feel anxious looking for work. Its not easy when you're not prepared and nobody wants to help you.

They have a pc lab which works but always havin issues when I'm there since it's Wifi. That's why I rated 4 star. It cuts off sometimes.

I've been very impressed with what I have seen at FIT. They do all they can to help those in need find employment, and provide training and mentoring. The staff is professional, friendly, and genuinely seem to care about their clients. These are good people working for a good cause, and I have the utmost respect for what they do.

I first learned about FIT in 2013. I toured their facilities and met a few of the board members and was very impressed. The staff and the board members are 100% focused on the mission of helping unemployed, and under-employed Nevadan's get the training needed to get good paying jobs. I joined the board in 2015 and have seen numerous success stories where individuals were able to get jobs that allow them to support their families without public assistance. This is what a charity should do .... help people to help themselves. FIT is a tremendous asset to Southern Nevada.

Personalized case management and dealing with difficult ex-offenders far exceeds expectations

The services FIT provides has helped to give people jobs who are facing barriers in employment. They have gifted people with the work tools to enhance their lives. I think they are outstanding since nobody else in the city provides these services directly.

Being in an administrative role at FIT doesn't give me the opportunity to work with the clients one-on-one, but I do get to meet them at our various events we hold and I have to say hearing the clients tell us about their story and how far they have come as a result of FIT really makes me proud to say I work for an amazing organization.

They wouldn't train me for a job. They just want people to email them resumes so they can show that they're helping people, but really they're not doing nothing. I've been unemployed for 4 years. They didn't offer any job training at all.
