Causes: Animal Training, Animals
Mission: The primary goal of the organization is to improve the relationships of humans with other animals through educational programs that increase the use and acceptance of behavior analytic principles by animal trainers and through research programs to investigate new, improved training methods and techniques.
Programs: The organization's primary activity involves organizing and running an annual two day conference for professional animal trainers, pet owners, and behavior analysts. The conference consists of lectures given by top animal trainers and behavioral scientists. There are also question and answer sessions as well as networking events. We spent 2016 conducting our first conference, which attracted 180 people from various states. In conjunction with the conference, the organization also hosts a one day private research meeting for the conference speakers and approximately 15-20 graduate students. This private meeting facilitates an exchange of ideas between some of the top trainers in the animal training community, students, and researchers from the scientific community.
