Mission: Operate a pediatric clinic which provides comprehensive medical service to the underserved arlington children, whose family income is below 200% of the poverty level.
Programs: Apc is recognized as a level iii patient-centered medical by the national committee on quality assurance (ncqa). This is the highest level of recognition available for systematic use of patient-centered, coordinated care management practices. In 2017, apc enrolled 641 new children. 3,607 children were evaluated and treated during 16,151 clinical encounters; 67% were acute care and followup visits, 33% were well child visits, 3. 2% were behavioral health and 4. 1% were nutrition visits. There were 715 visits for newborns under the age of 1 month. Apc administered 9,775 vaccines to protect children, and the community, against life-threatening, preventable diseases. The rate of up-to-date casa reported apc's immunizations for 2 year olds was 96%. Apc helped parents obtain or renew medicaid/famis benefits for 346 children ensuring them greater access to pediatric specialists, hospitalizations, and medications. Apc provided 129 free prescriptions to uninsured children to help improve compliance with treatment plans. There were 330 patients identified as children with special health care needs (cshcn). These children are profoundly affected by conditions such as cerebral palsy, developmental delay, congenital heart conditions, asthma, and down syndrome. Their treatment plans require extensive care coordination. Apc participates in reach out and read, and every child is encouraged to take home a book after every visit. Apc trains medical residents from inova fairfax hospital for children.
