Mission: The corporation, in general, provides affordable access to the game of golf for children and youth who otherwise would not be financially able to learn or experience the game, including, but not limited to the following: (i) providing such children with (con't sch o) free golf instruction and use of golf equipment, (ii) providing financial assistance to such children for participation in golf tournaments or competitions, (iii) constructing, developing, acquiring, owning, operating, managing, maintaining, financing, and otherwise dealing with golf courses, golf facilities, golf equipment, practice facilities and similar or related assets in order to provide such children with affordable access to facilities for instruction, practice or competition, and (iv) supporting, establishing, sponsoring, holding and/or operating golf tournaments, competitions, teaching schools, clinics and similar activities for such children.
Programs: The first tee of phoenix - thunderbird junior golf foundation actively supports the first tee of phoenix, created for the purpose of providing affordable access to golf and golf learning facilities for young people in maricopa county from all walks of life, particularly those who otherwise might not have an opportunity to play. The first tee of phoenix currently impacts over 120,000 youths each year at 15 facilities and 142 schools as part of the national school program outreach initiative with allied organizations. It was designed to serve as a place for participants to learn valuable life skills and character lessons through creative activities and instructional programs that incorporate the fundamental teachings of golf. The goal of the first tee is to incorporate responsibility,(con't sch o)courtesy, honesty and integrity into the daily lives of those who participate. By using the fundamentals of golf, the first tee equips youth with the skills needed to follow their dreams, advance academically and athletically, strengthen their social abilities and become productive members of their local community.
golf tournaments - the thunderbirds, through the thunderbird junior golf foundation, sponsor the annual thunderbird international junior golf tournament, along with the american junior golf association. This program brings together a world-class field of pro golf all-americans and u. S. And international champions of junior golf from throughout the world. This event will annually feature future champions of the golfing world. Included in the expenses of these tournaments, the organization granted $1,000 - $2,000 each to 14 organizations for the advancement of amateur athletics.
