Mission: The acdl is a non-profit law firm that assists arizonans with disabilities to promote and protect their legal rights to independence, justice, and equality.
Programs: Protection and advocacy for persons with developmental disabilities (padd)the focus of the padd program is to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect and ensure access to treatment, services, employment and education for individuals with developmental disabilities. In fiscal year 2017, acdl served 378 clients with developmental disabilities. The two largest areas of our legal and advocacy work in this grant program focuses on equality of opportunity in special education and healthcare.
protection and advocacy for individuals with mental illness (paimi)the focus of the paimi program is to investigate allegations of abuse and neglect in residential and treatment facilities and to ensure access to mental healthcare and services in the community for individuals with serious mental illness. In fiscal year 2017, acdl served 336 clients with mental illness. The two largest areas of our legal and advocacy work in this grant program focuses on equality of opportunity in mental healthcare and monitoring allegations of abuse/neglect.
protection and advocacy for individual rights (pair)the focus of the pair program is to protect and advocate for the legal and human rights of persons not covered by other programs (padd, paimi or cap programs). In fiscal year 2017, acdl served 211 pair clients. The two largest areas of our legal and advocacy work in this grant program focuses on remedying employment and housing discrimination.
