Mission: The society's purpose is to foster research and development of transplantation by providing a forum for the exchange of information, publishing literature and providing guidelines for the training and education of physicians and clinicians in transplantation therapy.
Programs: Biology of blood and marrow transplantation is a monthlyscientific journal that is the official publication of theamerican society for blood and marrow transplantation. Itpublishes original research reports, reviews, editorials,commentaries, letters to the editor and hypotheses that arefocused on current technology and knowledge in theinterdisciplinary field of hematopoetic stem cell transplantation. Circulation is approximately 1,900.
the asbmt annual meeting is the largest gathering in north americaof worldwide authorities in blood and marrow transplant patientcare, clinical investigation and laboratory research. Themeetings include plenary and concurrent scientific sessions,workshops, poster sessions, symposia, commercial exhibits andsocial events, as well as parallel conferences for bmt centermedical directors, bmt nurses, bmt center administrators, bmtpharmacists and bmt clinical research associates, as well ascommercial exhibits. Attendance is about 3,400.
the asbmt new investigator awards are designed to encourageclinical or laboratory research by young investigators in thefield of blood and marrow transplantation. The award preferably isto be used to support the investigator's salary for his or herresearch effort. Alternatively, the award may be used for directsupport of research costs. Asbmt provided twelve awards.
