Programs: 2014 gala: photojournalism to cinematographythe arccf celebrated 100 years of us-russian cultural exchange in photojournalism and cinematography by co-hosting a black-tie event with american universitys initiative for russian culture at the national geographic society (ngs) in washington, dc. The program included speeches by keynote speakers, russian folk dance performances by a us-based ensemble, award presentations and a four-course dinner. It was preceded by a vip reception at the residence of h. E. Sergey kislyak, the ambassador of the russian federation to the us, and a general reception at the ngs, during which the arccf also hosted a silent auction featuring artwork by contemporary russian artists. The annual arccf foundation award was presented to russian film director karen shakhnazarov and chairman emeritus of the ngs, gilbert m. Grosvenor, who accepted on behalf of ngs, for their notable contributions to strengthening us-russian cultural relations
bicentennial celebration of russian poet mikhail lermontov (april 24, 2014)on april 24, 2014, arccf marked the bicentennial of mikhail lermontov, one of russias most revered poets, with a program at the library of congress. The evening began with a cocktail reception which included a display of rare lermontov books graciously provided by the library of congress. It was followed by a program with included distinguished speakers, including dr. James billington, librarian of congress, and h. E. Sergey kislyak, ambassador of the russian federation. Among the guests was a russian delegation of scholars, curators and descendants of the great poet, all of whom worked with us for months to provide visual and written materials for this program. Following the program, guests were treated to a dinner reception in a room magnificently transformed into an opulent salon overlooking the us capitol with live music, lermontovs artwork and a timeline of his brief life.
arccf 2015 commemorative calendar celebrating the 70th anniversary of the allied victory in wwii in december 2014, arccf produced a commemorative 2015 calendar celebrating the upcoming 70th anniversary of the allied victory in world war ii. Arccf is proud to have created a great educational resource for all generations of americans and russians, as the calendar highlights acts of vital cooperation and friendship between citizens of both nations during the epic struggle. The calendar also serves as a precursor to arccfs event in may 2015 at the russian embassy in washington, dc, during which we will once again commemorate all the contributions made by men and women of both countries to the vast war effort.
