Mission: The american romanian festival, inc. Was created to foster a mutual understanding of, and greater knowledge of american and romanian culture to audiences of both countries. It seeks to do this by sponsoring a festival of romanian and american music and art. This festival consists of a number of events, (lectures, concerts, master classes), which take place in both the us and romania.
Programs: In the 2017-2018 fiscal year, the american romanian festival inc. Organized a series of concerts, a romanian film series at the university of michigan museum of art, a romanian culinary evening at schoolcraft college as well as a tour to romania featuring american musicians in chamber music and a symphonic concert as well as in master classes. The primary collaborations were with wayne state university department of music, the detroit symphony orchestra, the university of michigan museum of art and in romania the timisoara philharmonic and west university. There were a total of 9 chamber music concerts, four film screenings, two master classes, and a symphonic concert featuring american and romanian composers. Total audience reach during those events were approximately 1300 people.
