Mission: The american hearing research foundation serves two vital roles: to fund significant research in hearing and balance disorders, and to help educate the public about hearing loss and balance disorders related to the inner ear.
Programs: To promote, conduct and furnish financial assistance for medical research into causes, prevention and cure of deafness, impaired hearing and balance disorders.
educational - disseminate scientific knowledge to physicians and the public
I agree with MLovett's review. The AHRF is very nimble in its review process and can easily respond to changing priorities or new trends, while maintaining the highest scientific standards. I have also seen several former grant winners, both new and established investigators, go on to develop their AHRF pilot projects and obtain NIH funding.
Professional with expertise in this field
The AHRF meets an important need in hearing research by providing seed funding for new and innovative science in the field. The review process is professional, thorough, quick and the organization is very supportive and helpful. I have been very impressed by the vision and dedication of this foundation.
