Causes: Charter Schools, Education
Mission: The american dream school's mission is to develop academic excellence in both spanish and english, preparing students in grades 6-8 to excel in college.
Programs: The 2016-2017 school year was our third year of operation. During thisyear we served 6th grade with 80 students, 7th grade with 81students, and 8th grade with 75 students. Our mission has always been central to our focus as we develop academic excellence in both spanish and english, preparing our middle school students to excel in college. In school year 16-17 we concentrated on cultivating a highly qualified teaching staff,improving our student learning outcomes as well as fine-tuning a supportive school environment. We continued a successful after-school program that included homework help, robotics, music, soccer, science olympiad and an award-winning debate team. We continued offering after school parent workshops and building a strong community through regular monthly meetings with parents and the principal called "cafecito con la directora. " in addition, during the 2016-2017 school year the school successfully applied to its authorizer (nysed) in order to expand into high school grades. After being approved, we located a second property to temporarily house our high school campus in preparation for opening in school year 2017-2018.
