Causes: Alumni Associations, Education
Mission: Be a valued partner of southern illinois university edwardsville (siue) through the advancement and promotion of siue alumni, the university, and its friends. The siue alumni association will foster a lifelong, mutually beneficial relationship among siue alumni, the university, and its friends. To become known by every cougar as the gateway to siue and the alumni community, and to meaningfully engage more alumni in memberships, programs, and services every year. Based on its mission, vision, and aspirations, the actions of the siue alumni association will be guided by four strategic initiatives which will drive annual operating plans, be shaped by market feedback from its constituents, and be tracked and measured for success around selected key indicators. The siue alumni association will also adhere to the core values of respect, generosity, service, and quality of life.
Programs: The siue alumni association, as the voice of siue alumni, will foster the advancement of siue alumni and will strive to support siue, it's students, and the community. The association endeavors to engage, educate, and empower the more than 100,000 siue graduates for life. The association fulfills this mission through events held locally and in targeted areas around the country to bring alumni together for fellowship and discussions centered around furthering the mission of siue. The association also fulfills this mission through the use of a variety of communication tools including the siue alumni magazine (econnection). The magazine is mailed once per year to alumni households. The magazine provides readers updates on developments on campus, and alumni events. A pdf file of the magazine is also posted on the siue alumni website. The association also uses regular mailings to graduates, as well as monthly electronic newsletter called the edition to provide information of interest. The association also provides alumni with a wide range of benefits associated with membership. Alumni association members can take advantage of reduced fees, at the siue student fitness center, the arts & issues series, the career development center and siue cougar athletic events. Library privileges are also provided to members of the association. The association also encourages and enables alumni to serve on advisory boards, alumni councils, and academic advisory boards, which further enhance the operations of the university. Ultimately, the alumni association works to maintain accurate alumni records in the database housed in the siue foundation. This database enables the university to more effectively reach out to siue alumni for the purpose of volunteer participation, donations, and service. (approximately 99,345 living members. )
