Mission: The alpaca breeders of the rockies is an organization of volunteers capable of leading and influencing the future of the alpaca industry, supporting members through education, marketing events and public awareness. We are dedicated to promoting ethical conduct in the alpaca industry, insuring the health and welfare of the alpacas and the long term well-being of the market, and being an active voice for our members throughout the industry, all for the purpose of helping our members succeed.
Programs: Alpaca fall festival: generally held annually, the event is sponsored by alpaca breeders of the rockies, inc. (abr) to promote and educate the public about all aspects of the alpaca industry. The event includes alpaca exhibitors, demonstrations, workshops, seminars and a sanctioned competition for farm participants.
quarterly meetings: abr hosts quarterly meetings for its current and prospective members. The purpose of the meetings are to conduct association business and to offer a broad range of educational and informational programs in support of new and experienced alpaca breeders. Educational programs have included herd management, nutrition, breeding and reproduction, pasture management, fiber processing and general business management.
great western alpaca show: this is a regional event, sponsored by alpaca breeders of the rockies,inc. (abr) abr utilizes this event to promote and educate the public about all aspects of the alpaca industry. The event includes a sanctioned competition for farm participants, demonstarations, workshops and seminars. This is an annual event.
seminars: alpaca breeders of the rockies hosts eductional seminars throughout the year for alpaca breeders and other interested parties. The seminars include all aspects of the alpaca industry, including, but not limited to veterinary/health issues, herd management, financial/business aspects and fiber industry development. The speakers are frequently well known nationally in their field of expertise.
