Mission: To promote the public welfare by advancing the quality of public governance through improved state and local policy making, preparation and dissemination of accurate and timely information, supporting well-informed public engagement and advocating ethical and transparent governance with the state of utah.

Programs: The alliance for a better utah followed and educated the public about various issues of public interest. This included legislative matters, administrative matters, matters relating to individual elected officials, and general matters of public interest. In 2016, better utah worked to hold city councilman jeff haaga responsible for his actions leaving the scene of a hit-and-run, and claiming a right to special treatment as a city councilman. Similarly, better utah worked to hold representative brian greene responsible for his comments about rape. Better utah also called out the utah technology council for their blanket endorsement of a class of candidates based on who those donors received contributions from or who they did not. A primary focus in 2016 was better utah's work toward researching and educating the public about utah's effort to invest $53 million of community impact board funds in a coal port project in oakland, california.

the alliance for a better utah used opeds, letters to the editor, earned media and radio appearances to bring attention to, and educate the public about, current issues of importance, including sex education, education funding, medicaid expansion, tax policy, economic issues impacting the middle class, the carried interest loophole, gun violence, the black lives matter movement, dying with dignity, and public land issues, among others.
