Mission: The mission of albuquerque little theatre (alt) is to cultivate appreciation of the theatre arts through active participation in fully-staged productions, and to nurture aspiring talent through innovative educational programs. Alt facilities offer the opportunity to make performance and educational activities available to the community and to develop programs to enhance the cultural environment in which we live.
Programs: Albuquerque little theatre was founded in 1930 and currently produces seven productions a season, in a combination of full-scale broadway musicals and important non-musical comedies and dramas. Each production runs for three or four weeks. A small professional staff hosts hundreds of volunteer actors and craftsmen each year, that are both experienced and just beginning, and offers opportinities to discover the joys and benefits of live theatrical performance. In addition, alt offers educational classes focusing primarily on younger students, but including opportunities for all ages and levels of interest. Alt plays an important roll in the cultural growth and well-being of our community. Over 85% of our operational expenses are covered by our earned income from ticket sales, classes and merchandising. Donations from the public help maintain our 80 year old, 500 seat facility, as well as help to keep our ticket prices affordable, make class scholarships available and help with special projects. Alt offers opportunities for theatre professionals and teachers to earn an income in their own community in their chosen fields without having to leave the state of new mexico.
