I am involved in a wide array of efforts and organizations related to reproductive health, rights, and justice. I first ran across Advocates for Youth while I was propped on my couch with a broken leg, looking for abortion stories. I made a small donation and began watching their work. Over time, I became so impressed that I eventually joined their board. Advocates understands youth culture in a way that few organizations do, in part because they respect young people and empower them to advocate for themselves and their peers. The organization is smart, evidence based, and nimble, and from what I hear plays well with others.
Advocates for Youth is an organization which truly "walks the walk" when it comes to advocating for comprehensive sex ed, LGBTQ+ equality and reproductive justice on behalf of young people across the nation. We're lucky to have a voice like AFY in Washington D.C.
Donations made to Advocates for Youth go towards youth empowerment and training to equip young people with the tools necessary to become advocates for rights which directly impact their lives. This organization is on the cutting edge of youth organizing and it is an organization I am proud to be a part of.
Review from Guidestar
I work with Advocates as a youth organizer on Harvard's Campus with Advocates' Campus Organizers program and the 1 in 3 program. I have never worked with an organization that is more attentive to the safety and unique position of youth in our society. I wholeheartedly appreciate the rigor with which Advocates constantly assesses itself and its mission and articulates its broader ideal in the world of reproductive rights and health access.
Review from Guidestar
I've worked with this non-profit in my younger professional days and the staff and leadership have always been remarkable. The programming is top-notch and AFY is well-respected in the field of youth sexual and reproductive rights. At a time when there are many challenges to safe and evidence-based education and medical services, AFY is an important champion for young people in America and across the world.
