Mission: Aids connecticut, inc. 's mission is to improve the lives of people impacted by hiv through care and supportive services, housing, advocacy and prevention throughout the state of connecticut. Its vision is to be a recognized leader in the prevention and care of people impacted by hiv, creating new approaches to service, working in collaboration with all stakeholders, and advocating for a dignified, respectful system of service delivery.
Programs: Financial assistance and training/qa/ta:distributed emergency financial assistance to persons living with hiv; and to homeless individuals throughout ct. 1,154 served during 2017. Provided training, technical assistance and quality assurance programs to case managers and housing providers serving persons living with hiv throughout ct. Approximately 30 agencies served during 2017; 318 people in 24 trainings were served.
hiv treatment and care:hiv case management linking consumers to medical and support services; medication adherence; nutritional therapy; psychosocial support services, including "connections", a wellness drop-in center; and rep payee services for hiv consumers in the greater hartford area. 674 served during 2017. Short-term case management for soon-to-be released hiv inmates throughout ct. 205 served during 2017.
hiv prevention:the prevention outreach, testing, and linkage staff conducted 200+ hiv/sti tests; distributed 1,350 brochures, 28,000 condoms, and 3,000 lubricants; outreached to approximately 3,500 individuals. Syringe services staff exchanged over 310,000 syringes during 27,000 points of contact with clients; made 233 referrals to substance use treatment, sti screening/treatment, housing, and mental health services; trained and distributed overdose prevention kits to 601 individuals. Clients reported 196 successful overdose reversals. The community distribution center processed 398 orders in 2017, and distributed over 1. 2 million condoms and 97,000 printed materials to individuals, schools, and community organizations.
