amwa technical projects:amwa networked media incubator (nmi) - some 50 companies are currently participating in this project that began in late 2015 with the goal to deliver a framework for ip based media systems using interoperable and open specifications. Several workshops were conducted during the year that moved the project forward and culminated in the first specification release for discovery and registration. The nmos (networked media open specification) specification was formally published as an amwa rfc in mid-year. New work groups were formed to address network control api and connection management device api to continue improving and enhancing the nmos specification. As-11 international (mxf for contribution) - the success of as-11 dpp for british broadcasters in 2014 was so promising that new versions were created to meet the needs of other national broadcasters. Customized new releases of as-11 versions - x1, x2, x3 and x4 - are available for use by nordic, australian and new zealand broadcasters. In addition, work continues on as-11 x7, x8 and x9 for the north american broadcasters association (naba)'s customized specifications for u. S. And canadian broadcasters. Fims (framework for interoperable media services) - sponsored by the amwa and the ebu (european broadcasting union), fims v1. 2 was released in the fourth quarter to add enhancements. Fims also exhibited at nab and ibc tradeshows. Tradeshows:the amwa was again able to secure complimentary booth space at nab and ibc, the top two industry trade shows to enhance the organization's credibility as a vital industry association: the national association of broadcasters (nab) show was held in las vegas in april and maintaining a consistent booth location as the previous year within the convention hall proved successful and beneficial for the amwa. The international broadcasters conference (ibc) held in amsterdam in september included an amwa independent booth within the exhibition hall. In addition, the jt-nm (joint taskforce for networked media) spearheaded the one of a kind demo at a both major trade shows. The amwa participated in the ip interoperability technical demo, which ran throughout nab and ibc shows. Co-hosted by aims and iabm (marketing associations), the demo featured the work and participation of technical and standards associations: the amwa, ebu, smpte and vsf.
