Programs: During 2017 ademas continued the collaboration with local beekeepers and community groups in illinois. The decline in the honeybee population has far-reaching implications for our agricultural food supply. During 2017 hives were rescued and relocated to organic farms. Community group educational presentations geared towards increasing bee and other pollinator awareness were made to universities, schools, libraries and conventions. Plans have been made for 2018 which will focus on expanding these programs and creating an organic sanctuary for pollinators. The goal is to educate youth and create awareness of this global problem and how it affects their community. Women of the sea (wots) - during 2017 ademas began a collaborative project with hurricane island center for science and leadership entitled women of the sea. The pilot program was held in the summer, 2017 and afforded 12 high school women from maine the opportunity to spend two weeks learning about oceanography, marine biology, maritime technology, sustainability and environmental stewardship. Ademas participated in the design and implementation of the scholarship competition and the continuing development of the curriculum. Participants brought their findings back to their local communities. This will be a multi-year program.
