Our nonprofits ( my familys and mine) which are environmental education group and couple more in the making all in the basis include helping teach children and adults to learn to take full responsibility for the way they feel, think and act which eventually after years of hard work in return reflect on how they also treat our environment and animals, because once we stop war ing with ourselves, we stop war ing with each other and life that we are all connected to .. these are some examples of what we teach in our schools we are in the process of building and spreading around the world

Mr Sumerhalder, there is a great need for clean up crews in louisiana. We were hit with a massive hurricAne on August 27th which has basically affected the entire state. Some cities and towns probably will not recover from tHis disaster. It's summer here 100 plus degrees plus add 10 to 15 more for the heat index. Some areas will not have power back for monthS. Our governor has downplayEd the extremeness of our situation. People have lost homes and vehicLes they are living wherever tHey can. Some have generators if they are lucky. I'm trying to help the best I can but theRe is only do much one can do. If you could take the time to at least research m y story yOu will find I'm being truthful with you. As a small 501c3 run through volunteers and donations, unexpected medical emergencies can often deplete our resources. Our primary goal is always to do whatever is best for our kitties regardless of how it affects our hearts, so when we found ourselves in a desperate situation, we reached out and the Ian Somerhalder Foundation was right there willing and able to assist us. We cannot thank you enough for your role in Speed Bump’s care.
Speed Bump overcame so much in his brief life, from being hit by a car and unable to walk, to regaining mobility, and showing us that there are no limits; joy can be found no matter your circumstances. Through every stage and every challenge that he faced, Speed Bump had met it head on with a quiet strength and dignity that was unmatched. He has taught us that life should be appreciated in the moment, and that no matter the outcome, if you approach every situation with love, that you will find joy present.
To say that he is the sweetest cat we've ever met is an understatement and cannot begin to describe Speed Bump. When he was first brought home, he would often drag himself to his Foster so that he could simply be touching her then purr contentedly. Then came the days he would race through the house with a crooked gait, enjoyed wrestling and grooming the foster kittens, snuggled with the other cats and dog in his foster home and liked nothing more than to be cuddled and have his belly rubbed. He would gaze at you with those amber eyes that simply ooze love and adoration. He liked to chase pom pom balls and was quick to scale the cat tree. He enjoyed hanging out on the screened porch and hot days would find him laying on top of the floor vent, unashamedly hogging all of the A/C.
He was a quiet boy who trilled when he was happy and purred constantly even while being expressed. He learned his routine and would bolt to his crate at night for his nighttime snack and in the morning stretched lazily and waited to start the day. Even at the vet, they never had a cross moment from him, always rolling around in his kennel soliciting pets.
If there was ever a pet deserving of a long and happy tail, Speed Bump would have been the one. His life, although brief, was filled with happiness, he was beyond adored, and if love could have saved him, he’d have lived forever!

Where to begin? This organization is amazing. It is all about empowering others to care for the environment, it's animals, and also humans. The volunteers work together to accomplish this goal. I have had the privilege to have started with the College team and moved over to the Youth division. There is something so unique about this organization. While its main focuses are creatures and environment, there is also an amazing amount of emphasizing just being an overall good person. I've been a volunteer at The Ian Somerhalder Foundation for almost 7 years.
I found ISF at a time where I didn't know how to affect change or to be of help to the environment, its creatures and the issues that threaten this world we live in. ISF changed that from day one, morphing hopelessness into empowerment and helping me be of help where it matters.
Over the years, through showing up, being part of this foundation, collaborating with people, working on relevant causes, fighting for those that do not have a voice and educating those that do, I've learned that everyone's contribution matters. That we have in us the power to make this planet a better, safer and more sustainable places. That human beings can rise to the occasion and be extraordinary and that animals have in them an infinite capacity for love.
I can't say enough good things about ISF, about the people that work tirelessly to make it happen. To the people that share our dream and help in any way they can. For me, it's been an extraordinary journey in the company of the most amazing like minded people that have become friends, family, mentors and living inspirations. The Ian Somerhalder Foundation is an amazing organization. Fiona and Phantom were sitting in pain, with nobody to help them, at an overcrowded animal control that was getting ready to euthanize animals. Fiona had been returned (at half her weight) with jaundice and was very ill. Phantom had a huge wound on his face and a painful bulging eye from several different traumas. We knew we needed to help these two get emergency care, and also find a better life. So we rescued them and brought them to an emergency veterinarian for care. We also reached out to The Ian Somerhalder Foundation who immediately said “Yes!” to our Emergency Care grant request. We were most grateful for their support as the medical bills were going to be quite large. Their support didn’t stop there, though. As Fiona and Phantom healed, we got notes of encouragement from ISF, and when these two were well, and very quickly found their forever, loving homes, ISF cheered with us at the good news. We couldn’t have asked for a more caring, compassionate and better partner than The Ian Somerhalder Foundation. The process was simple, easy and their team so very easy to work with. Thank you ISF!

Our rescue had taken in a dog that has a partially healed elbow fracture, and required an expensive procedure. Since we had just started our non profit back up in March of 2018, we were limited on resources, but were bound to help this pup regardless. I volunteer with a Shenandoah Shepherd Rescue and we were contacted by a high kill shelter about a young dog that was hit by a car and had broken legs. Instead of allowing the shelter to euthanize him, SSR took him into the rescue to receive costly surgery and treatment. If is was not for the help of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation grant, Leo might not have been able to receive the urgent medical care he needed to save his life.

I am a Board member and foster care provider for Take Paws Rescue in New Orleans. We reached out to ISF for an emergency medical grant for a small dog that had been beaten and abused until it could not walk and then surrendered because the owners could not care for the dog or afford the vet bills to help him. Buddy needed spinal surgery, and had an excellent prognosis, but the rescue could not afford the necessary surgery without significant help. ISF was quick, responsive, and saved the day. The is an amazing organization of caring individuals and I cannot say enough good things about them. Buddy had his surgery, is walking really well, is no longer in pain, and has been adopted and will live happily ever after!

I can't say enough good things about this organization.
ISF is different. They recognize that there are challenges inherent in trying to be completely sustainable. They don't exclude you if you can't meet sustainability 100%. Rather they welcome all who are willing to take whatever steps they can towards improvement. They teach with an open mind. They encourage every effort no matter how small. Encouragement is the name of the game - not discouragement for not being 'good enough'
I always compare the philosophy that every effort counts no matter how small to playing a game at the carnival. You play and you win, but its just a small prize.
But you keep at it, you don't give up. And you keep winning small prizes.
Pretty soon you can trade in those small prizes for a large prize.
Lots of small changes WILL add up to big change for the planet, so just do what you can when you can.
Education. Effort, Acceptance. Compassion.
These are the keys to a better future.
The people I have met through ISF have vastly improved my life. The kindness and support I have experienced has honestly been life changing. I have been given the opportunity to support and help others. I have had others support and help me. I have had kids 'adopt' me as an 'aunt' with the full support of their parents who have adopted me as a friend. I have learned new skills I might not have explored had I not encountered such a supportive group of people as my ISFAMILY
I want to take a moment to add something else if I may -
I am always disheartened when I see people frustrated that the animal sanctuary hasn't come to fruition yet.
I feel bad because it seems the default thinking is that there is something untoward happening with donations.
The land has been purchased, but that is only one small step towards the realization of the dream. The reality is that there are a tremendous amount of laws and regulations to be navigated with any large undertaking and that costs money. It costs money to build the infrastructure on the purchased land. It costs money to maintain that infrastructure. It costs money to transport and then support any animals that would call this place home. It costs money to create an education center.
And the fact is it costs money to generate money.
And it takes time to generate the money.
I applaud the Foundation for simultaneously working towards the dream of a sanctuary / preserve and providing monetary grants to many other organizations to aid the planet and its creatures. They found a way to give some immediate help to the world while still working to grow this dream.
I applaud the volunteers who work tirelessly to help keep the mission moving forward.
I am a donor and supporter for the long haul. I am proud to say so.

My name is Candi Fair. I am one of many volunteers of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation(ISF).
During the several years I have had the honor to work within the Youth Focus Area, I have seen the heart and soul of ISF.....the volunteers working countless hours behind the scenes making sure everything runs like a well oiled machine...I have had the honor to be empowered not only by my fellow volunteers but especially by the Youth that we work with every day.
These Youth are passionate, driven, intelligent and full of love. They strive to heal our world and that is exactly what they are doing! From being strong voiced animal advocates, to rolling up their sleeves and cleaning up their communities, to instilling recycling programs in their schools....these kids go above and beyond to help the world and each other and ISF is that platform they are standing on to reach those high places. ISF empowers them and educates them and and gives them the tools they need to get their voices heard in a noisy ,chaotic world that drowns them out.
I have spoken with kids who are so passionate and driven about issues of bullying in their school that they talk to me with tears in their eyes and shaky voices only to watch them stand taller and stronger than most adults I know to step forward and be the one to make that initial change and help their fellow classmates find the friends and help they need.
ISF gives a voice to our smallest changemakers and boy are they being heard!
Of course the Youth is only one Focus Area within ISF...we are also involved in Animal advocacy, Environmental Conservation,focusing on water and also a brilliant Grassroots initiatives program!
ISF is an amazing non profit that is doing great things in this world..just stand back and watch us!

My name is Candi Fair and I am a volunteer within the Ian Somerhalder Foundation's Youth Division.
I personally, have seen the positive impact that this foundation has on our youth of today. ISF gives young people the tools, platforms and encouragement and education to help them find their passions and strive to see them come to life. I feel VERY fortunate to get the honor to work with kids who are actively and passionately engaging each other and their communities to "Do Better" for our world, to make an actual, tangible difference..... that's where ISF stands apart from other foundations.....the kids have the control to participate in projects and grassroot inituitives or any other positive ,change making ideas they want .....and they are doing it big!!!
I have participated in two ISF YOUTH DAYS with these awesome young people. ISF YOUTH DAYS are days set aside for our ISF YOUTH to come together in different parts of our country to roll up their sleeves and volunteer at specific locations that need our help. From traveling to Flint Michigan to help with their water crisis to traveling to Georgia to volunteer at an animal sanctuary, I have had the AMAZING privilege to witness the passion and excitement of these kids who are eager to help, volunteer, roll up their sleeves and not afraid to use their voices and speak their minds. Their ideas, heart and pure will, encourage me everyday! Thanks to ISF our most valuable resource, our YOUTH, has a voice and are making a positive impact on our world and all it's inhabitants.

What a blessing to have been granted funding to help our rescue treat little Mika. The entire process was quick and efficient. This is a second review for this amazing foundation. They have become a great partner for us. They have provided numerous grants for us all for medical emergencies. The last grant was for Louie, a senior rat terrier, who required an amputation. Their staff is amazing and always helpful. Their assistance to us has enabled us to get funds to treat these dogs (typically from our county shelter) and get them medical treatment quickly. We largely focus on senior dogs which require more medical care and have less adoption prospects at our county shelter. Without the IS Foundation, we would not be able accomplish as much as we did in the last couple of years. We are so appreciative for all their assistance and highly recommend this organization.

As the president of an animal rescue specializing in traumatic surgical cases, finding emergency funding for the procedures is my biggest priority and I have truly found an amazing partner with the Ian Somerhalder Foundation.

The Ian Somerhalder Foundation has opened my eyes in regards to sustainability & the protection of our Earth. I was able to volunteer for a beach clean up in Flint, Michigan in hopes of bringing awareness of the terrible conditions of the water in Flint. It also brings awareness of polluted ocean water all over the world. The day was dedicated to the youth. They genuinely care about the health of our planet because of ISF & because their parents know how important sustainability is. If the youth can have a clear understanding of the negative effects certain things have on our planet today, it can really pave the way to a healthier & greener planet.

I was a MobSTIR (Youth Volunteer) for ISF for the year 2016. Firstly, the reason why I applied for the position was because I genuinely loved and still love ISF's purpose. It works towards helping the environment and the creatures in it. The one thing that I believe makes ISF truly stand out amongst all the other non-profits I came across is it's Youth Division; ISF allows the children of today to take part in the glorious work of helping the community. This is very important for the youth of today because they need to learn the responsibility they have towards the world around them and understand the true meaning of love. That is what ISF is for me; love and more love for everyone and everything. I'm from Bangladesh and the way I have been loved and supported by all the ISF members in every way possible is heart touching. I worked on a couple of projects for ISF but, growing vegetables was the best because it was the first time I had done full planting myself. ❤️

My son is six years old and is incredibly passionate about the environment - animal and ocean protection, in particular. He loves sharks and wants to be a shark biologist when he grows up.
There are not a lot of organizations that involve youth as thoroughly as ISF.
This organization not only provides him with ideas and information, it connects him to likeminded people and allows him to have a voice, even at the age of six.
This organization does tremendous work. I see it every day in how my son is learning to view and help the world.

Hello; My name is Guinevere now. I don't remember what it was before. Yes...before..I had a family you see but when I got older and my mouth got stinky my family threw me away..and I mean threw...See I am only 3 pounds and when I hit the bottom of the box I hurt my eye too. Box? What does this wee one mean by box? Well..you see..at many of those places I learned are called shelters there is a box that you can throw away your trash family pets..then come back and get new shiny ones...So I was thrown away in a box...I was very scared in there. Other doggies very scared too so we all just sit in the dark and cold and stay very quiet.
My new foster mommy is the boss of a small dog rescue group and when she saw me she knew she had to save me..But I had very stinky mouth that Mommy says was infected so we beg this nice company (mommy loves Damon) to help with money for to fix my stinky mouth...Now I no stinky anymore and I have no teeth any more. I eat nice kibble food because I don't chew anyway. I love my new home. So Thank you very much nice company...I love you!!!!

Stray Cat Alliance reached out to the Ian Somerhalder Foundation for support of one of 101 cats rescued in a felony hoarding rescue case they took on called #OperationKern100 that began in February 2016.
One of the wonderful cats who needed support was Lisa. She and her brother, Lopes, were some of the youngest cats at the "feral sanctuary" in the Mojave that was busted. All cats taken were into evidence at the Kern County Animal Shelter. Once Stray Cat Alliance realized no nonprofits had the capacity to help this large of a number of cats, they rallied support to begin to get help from them and prevent the Shelter from euthanizing them due to space.
SCA brought groups of cats 10-20 at a time down to Los Angeles to have them all vet checked to determine how to find fosters or adopters for the cats.
Both Lisa and Lopes needed eye removals due to genetic health issues. Stray Cat Alliance sent a proposal for support to the Ian Somerhalder Foundation who helped fund a majority of Lisa's surgery.
Lisa and Lopes had to to back and forth to their foster's home due to loss of his apartment and break up. But not too long afterwards, Colin, said he could not live without them. They now have a safe and loving home and even their own Instagram page, "Winking_Kitties", going under their new names, Winx (Lisa) and Jax (Lopes).
It was due to the generosity and compassionate support from the Ian Somerhalder Foundation that Lisa, now Winx, was able to be relieved from pain and live a happy, normal life with her new family.
The staff at the ISF is amazing and very caring in each of our dealings with them. They truly care about the animals. Thank you Ian Somerhalder and your wonderful Foundation for saving so many lives!!!

We are a small non-profit called Broken Promises SW located in rural southern New Mexico, and our mission is to reduce the community cat population through humane Trap/Neuter/Return. We trapped a feral kitten who needed to had an eye removed due to injury. Because our budget does not allow us to fund medical procedures beyond spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinations/ear tipping, we reached out to the Ian Somerhalder Foundation for help. ISF came through and covered the majority of out outstanding vet bill, allowing us to raise the remainder from friends and colleagues. Without the help of the Ian Somerhalder Foundation we would not have been able to give the kitten the care she needed.

I can not express my gratitude for all of the help we received from this great organization, and I absolutely love that they follow up on every animal they need.. I would highly recommend this organization to anyone that needs help saving their furry friends. Ifit was not for the Ian Somerhalder program my sweet girl may not be alive today... Here is harleys story she was found on the side of the road at 6 weeks old once bringing her inside she was very ill showing all signs of possible parvo we rushed her to the vet to find out she had persistant right aeortic arch and needed open heart surgery immediatly, Of course that expense was extreme for us but with the help of iam Somerhalder our girl was saved. she still has a long way to go as at 9 months old she is still skin and bones but she will get to where she needs to be one day with the help of all of the amazing people that are in this little girls life!!!!!!

Noni, a one year old English Bulldog mix, had been rescued by an organization that found they could not afford the treatment she needed, so they asked Wish Bone Canine Rescue to take her in. Noni had been born with ectopic ureters, one draining into her urethra and one draining into her bladder. Her chances of adoption were slim because of the constant dribbling of urine. She had urine scalding on her external genitalia and legs, yet despite this painful condition, Noni was one of the happiest, friendliest dogs I had met in awhile. After meeting her, I knew we had to give her a chance at a normal life ... and then find her that forever family she deserved. Thanks to a generous grant from the Ian Somerhalder Foundation and some caring donors, we were able to have Noni's surgery performed quickly. Her surgery was totally successful and Noni has now been adopted by a wonderful family. The ISF reviews emergency grant requests very quickly and, if approved, immediately sends the grant to you, which makes it possible to get the treatment needed quickly.
ISF cares about the animals they help. They may never meet them in person, but their compassion is felt as if they had.

I originally started donating to & following this organization when I'd heard about the plans for an animal sanctuary. As an advocate for no kill shelters, the idea was very appealing to me. I paid attention during Ian's live chats and started noticing he ignored addressing important logistical and safety questions. Everything was the same scripted propaganda. Finally I thought something might happen after he'd announced the purchase of the land. Still nothing but talk. And then he stopped even doing that with no status updates or announcement of a change in plans. Yet volunteers keep asking for donations for it.
During the time I followed the organization, I saw more and more contradictions in what they claimed to be about and what their behavior actually showed. How can the name sake of an organization preach saving the environment yet his actions contribute to the problem? Integrity is important for the legitimacy of an organization. Over time it became more apparent that it was all a facade.
Additionally, Ian had pushed repeatedly for people to get involved and volunteer. So I applied to volunteer. It took several months before I heard anything. When I finally received a response, it came in the form of a rejection letter as if I had been applying for a paid job. I'm well educated and I have years of experience yet somehow that didn't qualify me to donate my time to help for FREE! However, I was told I was more than welcome to start a community crew to beg for donations. That was when it was clear to me they weren't about making actual change. They only cared about money and appearances. And over the last few years, it's become glaringly obvious that the organization is all an image game for the name sake. Had I realized earlier that the organization was a scam, I wouldn't have wasted my money. I would've donated to local organizations that have SHOWN they're doing what they can to push for real change. It's awful how this organization preys upon the public's compassion to fool them into giving money for things that will never happen. It preaches to youths to take action yet it does none itself.

ISF is so grateful that we receive an enormous amount of volunteer applications. While many are qualified, we unfortunately do not always have a spot which matches their talents. I have been a volunteer with the Ian Somerhalder Foundation since March of 2014. Since the beginning of my volunteer work I have seen amazing transformations in the lives of animals helped by the Animal Emergency Grant. When a rescue group reaches out to us for the much needed funds to save an animals life, its such a great feeling to be able to help them get these animals the care they need. The before and after stories of these animals are astonishing. We always have new grant stories added to the website so that all of ISFs supporters can also see the overwhelming changes in the lives of these animals. It seems like there has been a shift in the foundation especially in the past year and we have been able to expand our outreach even farther. I participated in a spay/neuter clinic in New Mexico that ISF collaborated on. We reached a community in desperate need of veterinary care, and helped control the stray animal population on the Ramah Navajo reservation. I believe that my time is valuable and I would not spend many hours of my valuable time working for something that I did not believe in. The hearts and minds involved in this foundation are here for the right reasons and that speaks volumes. I am a proud ISF volunteer and supporter and I stand behind this foundation 100%

I have been a volunteer for ISF from the very beginning; and put into an official capacity almost 5 years ago.
It's quite disheartening to see so many misconceptions and false preconceived ideas about this organization.
ISF has always had the world, its people and animals very close to it's heart.
Global warming issues and all man made catastrophes have been of major concern of late.
A smear campaign has been ongoing and the target of all these false claims is ISF. These statements are lies that stand under the umbrella of slander, liable and defamation.
Bitter, disgruntled people beware...I have been here from the very beginning and know the root of all your lies.
Please get on with it and leave it to all the good people who remain and replaced you all to fix up your mess!

Thank you so much for your review and your support. You are correct, there is so much planning which goes into doing a sanctuary correctly. We are very happy to have been able to purchase the land because of our generous supporters and we have people working on this project...but it will take some years. We are happy to have the Medical Emergency Grant Program to help animals in need right now. We have also been able to send needed funds to LSU Teaching Veterinarian School in the wake of the LA flooding. They are currently doing amazing work to help animal victims of the recent flooding in LA.
This is a great foundation that works tirelessly to help animals in need. They have given grants to help over 1,000 animals. Ian & His wife foster animals &'work in shelters on their own time. I'm happy to be a supporter!

Thank you so much for your support! We truly appreciate it. Our Medical Emergency Grant program which you mention is so special to us and we are happy we have been able to help so many animals facing medical emergencies with your support.
I came across this by accident and will pass this to people I know who are very upset with being led to think that an animal sanctuary was happening and it is not.
And as a parent why would this actor go to great lengths to fight with children on social media. He got married and staff left and this sent a signal some things are not going well. I have seen my child show me comments he makes on the social media he has and he argues about why people do not like his wife.
This to me is a sign of an u stable person who uses kids that see him on tv in a God like way to follow him and I started looking at why he hasn't done anything since 2012 when he mentioned building an animal sanctuary. He was letting people think that this land was going to be about teaching kids about the animals and programs for them to interact with animals not just the surrounding land. We gave our last donation and I will assure the parents and kids around my child not to fall for these celebrity promises.
I had been a part of ISF for years. Then I WOKE UP........NOTHING happens. They talk a good game about being part of a family that is here for the animals or the environment. But at the end of the day, I had to take a hard look at what was being DONE. Not talk, ACTION. In 2 years they gave away a small fraction of the millions they have taken in. And money is spent thru the foundation to finance travel for many staff members and paid volunteers ( yes you read that right they list paid volunteers on tax returns ) to fly around the country, to put them up in hotels etc. For example they came down to the Mardi Paws parade, of which ISF was the mail beneficiary. After we added up the expenses incurred by staff that attended, IT COST THEM MONEY TO COME HERE. They only made plans to be here after noise was made about their being no mention about the parade anywhere on ISF's website, or on any social media outlets. And while here Ian was asked about the sanctuary, he REFUSED to comment.....even though the parade was giving his foundation money that he routinely asks for. He regularly takes to social media to ask for donations for the sanctuary, which now has been labeled a "preserve". It has been years, and no action has been taken on the land he bought. NONE. They have taken in more than enough money, yet nothing, not even an access road has been put in.

Hello, I'm sorry you had a bad experience with ISF. I do exit interviews with our volunteers and this has not come up with any official ISF volunteers who have left, so I am not sure in what capacity you were involved. 3rd party? I want to address some of your review. * We have not taken in millions of dollars in the last 2 years * ISF has given out (as of today) over $350,000 in grants to reputable rescues and environment groups in the last couple of years * We do not have paid staff or volunteers, we do have a limited number of paid consultants which is normal in a foundation of our size. These salaries are transparent on our financial statements * At Mardi Paws, many of the ISF people in attendance were volunteers and paid their own way. We did have a couple consultants there. The cost of this was minimal. * ISF planned to attend Mardi Paws from the beginning and are so appreciative of being a beneficiary. Just because it was not on our website from the beginning, does not mean we were not very involved. *ISF purchased raw sanctuary land two years ago and are in the planning stages.
ISF help my Siberian Husky that was diagnosed with Juvinile Cataracts. I will be forever grateful for the compassion they showed. He can now see again. Thank you!!

After emailing ISF for 2 years with no response someone finally emails me and helps out. Although they say yhey have NO record of ANY emails or applications to.volenteer.
I get in touch with the local crew cordinator who is having the same issue. NO ONE from ISF will get back with her to ok projects they want to do.
I saved for my ISF sweatshirt and USED to wear it proud and would tell anyone who asked what it meant. Now because of the way our group and myself has been treated, I WILL NOT wear it or support this foundation ANY longer. I have talk to 1 person in HR who was rude and doesnt return emails.
I know it isnt fair to blame one person or a whole company , but its rediculous.
I wonder if ian Somerhalder himself knows, how his company is run ..

Hello, I am so sorry you feel you had a bad experience as an ISF Community Crew. I received your first email March 1, which I promptly replied to letting you know how to become involved in ISF. At that time, I apologized that no one had responded to you and let you know the HR department had recently changed, so this was my first email from you. You responded saying you had found a crew and I responded to you again favorably. It was on March 28th I heard from both you and your crew leader. I received 3 angry emails from you in a 24 hour period. I did respond to you within a day and I also spoke at length on the phone with your crew leader. Please note that it is stated very clearly that community crews are 3rd party supporters of ISF and should go through the 3rd party division. This was explained to your crew leader as she was not aware of that. Again, I am sorry you feel upset with your ISF experience.
The Ian Somerhalder Foundation has helped our small rescue, Little Tails Rescue, Inc., with two grants both for senior dogs which had been badly neglected. One dog, a small 5 pound dog, was badly mauled and was scheduled to be euthanized. Medical bills exceeded $2200 and this wonderful foundation helped with a significant portion of the vet bills. They are great to work with, they processed our grant request quickly and were a pleasure to work with. We are so appreciative and can highly recommend the Ian Somerhalder Foundation.

I volunteered to help ISF almost 2 years ago and have enjoyed the experience tremendously. There are rules and regulations we must follow for legal and personal reasons, which some may find a bit daunting, but once learned and understood it's a very fulfilling experience.
There's been a complete personnel restructuring within the foundation the past few months and it's made a remarkable difference. Questions get answered, people are recognized for their efforts and much more information is getting out. I really believe the foundation has gotten through the initial learning stages and growing pains of a new entity and is on its way to becoming the organization we all expect.
The web site is easier to browse and the Emergency Grant stories of all the animals successfully saved are more than heartwarming. Absolute proof ISF is working hard and living by its mission statement.
I'm excited and very proud to be a small part of ISF and having the opportunity to watch it grow from the inside.

I can't say enough good things about the Ian Somerhalder Foundation. I had the amazing opportunity to meet Ian and his team at a dinner in 2015. He is not only extremely passionate about these causes, but he is also very smart and hard working. Those things can also be said about his team. After the dinner, I worked closely with the board secretary to enter into a charitable sales promotion. This means that I will donate money based on the sales from my new business. The ISF team was very careful to explain the laws governing this type of promotion. The contract was thorough and professional. ISF is dedicated to following the letter of the law. There is a lot of heart and integrity in this organization. I'm proud to be a supporter and spread the word through my business. I believe a lot of good will come out of this organization. I'm excited to hear about developments on the sanctuary and read about the animals they help. ISF is relatively young, but I see a bright future ahead and I truly believe that they will continue to work hard to help animals and the environment.

I joined ISF as a community crew team a little over 2 years now. One of the main reason is I really wanted to support the Animal sanctuary to be built in Louisiana. We have been told to “push” for donations for to make this a reality, but yet it’s been almost a year without any update about progressive forward on the animal sanctuary. If they are not going to build it they need to update the public. We should have regular updates. The community crew was a good idea but I think there are too many now your have 100’s of crews tweeting the same thing to each other on twitter. Cookie cutters, we are controlled on what we can post; only ISF approved Material is allowed. It’s sad that we cannot even post local “non funding raising” event about our area’s it’s not allow in the rules. It started out as a good idea but it’s gotten to political.

Attended a fundraiser to support ISF and was treated horribly by staff who were rude, yelled and took zero time to answer questions. The event was incredibly disorganized (no one knew what was going on) and attendees were promised many things that were simply not given, such as the chance to say hello to Mr. Somerhalder (who only spoke to his friends and staff and ignored all of the people who donated a lot of money and time to be there that evening) and to discuss his goals for the organization.
I still have no idea what the organization actually does with all of the money, though I just read that about 24% of DONATIONS were spent on himself. I thought I was donating money to save the animals and environment? I know a lot of non-profits cannot use 100% of the donations to work directly toward the cause. But most keep it below 3%.

I came across the Ian Somerhalder Foundation through actor/activist Ian Somerhalder. Upon learning more about his incredible work as a philanthropist and activist working to better the world, I came across his truly remarkable foundation and it's powerful mission, which captured not only my attention but my heart as well. The IS Foundation aims to empower, educate, and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and it's creatures. The ISF is not just another typical organization working to make the world a better place, it's a place where creative thinkers, passionate leaders, true visionaries are born, and most importantly, where real quantifiable change happens. I have written numerous emails to Kim Klingler requesting information on how to become a volunteer. Several weeks later received rude response implying that I was not good enough for this organization. I have asked for information on what ISF is currently doing in regards to the animal sanctuary as nothing has been updated in almost 2 years on the site. I would like to help with the sanctuary however, how can anyone help if Mrs. Klingler will not provide helpful information to us as the public. Then there are post such as the one below which ask for 35 MILLION DOLLARS but never says how donations will be used. Makes one question legitimacy of his organization.

I have been a supporter of this charity from the very beginning and it all started with becoming a fan of Ian Somerhalder in the TV-Show The Vampire Diaries.
