I believe that the mission of Adagio Child (teaching private violin lessons and providing violins) is obviously worthwhile. However, I have also seen the work that this organization has done in the underserved communities with the children that desire individual strings education, but are unable to afford it. I am proud to be a donor to this organization and will continue to do so.
My daughter has benefitted greatly from this organization! Her musical skills have developed to a level that I don't know would have been possible without Adagio Child. As a single mother, I do not have the luxury of affording private lessons however my daughter is able to excel beyond her peers through the lessons provided by Adagio Child.
My daughter was selected by her teacher to participate in this program. This program has offered free violin lessons to my daughter. This has been a great opportunity for both myself and my daughter. My daughter has been given a chance to have one on one help with the violin. Because of this one on one guidance she has grown exponentionally is the last couple of weeks.
Working with the Adagio Child students has been a wonderful experience. I've seen the shy students come out of their shells as they master new skills and songs, and seen the more boisterous students find a productive focus for their energy. Learning an orchestral instrument is a difficult task that requires patience, perseverance, and a lot of practice. It is wonderful to help guide the students to the realization that some things are worth working for and that studying music is it's own reward. I believe studying music gives the students a tangible way to measure value of daily discipline and work to achieve short and long term goals. When they are able to go back to a piece that was very challenging to them a few months ago and now play it with ease I see big smiles on their faces.
Adagio Child, Inc. is a phenomenal organization that is an asset to the communities it serves. Its Founder, Janet Henderson Brown, is an accomplished musician and businesswoman who inspires youth and adults as a positive role model and mentor. I wholeheartedly recommend Adagio Child, Inc. to persons seeking a partnership and/or private lessons in orchestral arts or philanthropists.

Here at MacGregor Elem. we a re so pleased to have Adagio Child teaching private lessons to our students. Our students have already benefitted in a short period of time and take pride in the personal attention given. Thank you Adagio Child for partnering in our school.
Adagio Child'snoble goal is to bring string education to the lives of students who would otherwise be without. This program has given many students the opportunity to be exposed to the violin and learn the fundamental skills taught in year one string education training. It need not be noted that these students have gained more than a simple set of coordination and note-reading skills. They have also gained self confidence, discipline, and problem solving skills: skills that are necessary to compete in the 21st century. Janet Henderson Brown has approached her nonprofit group with an intrinsic love and appreciation for music that cannot be learned, and she has passed this on to future generations of young people who can join the voices of people who understand why this art form is so powerful and unique.
Adagio Child came into my classroom and impacted it in a big way. Janet came in can pushed my students to a higher level. When she walked down the hall she was an instant celeb in our school. Every student knew her even those who did not take string class. Adagio Child was a roll model for our students and many of them need that.
This organization has provided a positive element to children that may or may not have many positive influences in their lives. Along with a positive influence, these children are also honing their craft with their violins and walking away with a new violin they will own for the rest of their lives. So far, this program has assisted over 20 children in 2 cities (St. Louis, MO and Houston, TX) and is eager to expand. In St. Louis, two children went on to take leadership roles within their regular classes and 8 of them performed at the Fox theater to showcase their talents in May 2009!
