Mission: Primary exempt purpose - the foundation aims torevitalize interest in chinese traditional arts among yougergenerations of chinese. The foundation supports the mission of theacademy of chinese performing arts in establishing a strong foundationof artistry and creativity that is representative of china. Throughtheir continuous experimentation, the academy is steadily growing andimproving. The academy and foundation are planning to bring thelarge-scale classic childrens dance and music drama "ma lan flower" tothe american public. They have been planning and writing a script formany years to produce one that best fits our audiences. In celebrationof the anniversary of acpa, the academy and the foundation are tryingto put the classical drama, "ma lan flower", on stage.
Programs: Malan flower program service accomplishments:the academy has adapted many teaching and performing waysof chinese dances to oversea students. As a result, theacademy has gained much valubale experience in teachingcarefully chosen cultural dances while also creating new pieces. Due tothe earnest effort and perseverance of our instructors, we have madegreat improvement. Many of the american-born students have begun toappreciate chinese dances, and especially chinese culture. Our studentsin the academy are taught by professional teachers using correctinterpretation of various ethnic and classical dances. The academy hasperformed in various venues in the community. We have performed morethan three hundred dances; almost one hundred of them were created and choreographed by our instructors. During the spring festival (chinesenew year), our students perform pieces of our work in local schooldistricts, presenting chinese dances and culture to thousands ofviewers, thus facilitating cultural exchange and mututal understanding. The academy also encourages students to participate in public events,including art performances and competitions. Our students contributegreatly to the cultural activities of the community, and at the sametime they have gained invaluable experiences in the aspect ofperforming arts. Two years ago, acpa was involved in the prestigiousartistic collaboration project between the city of fremont and thetrade mission as part of the cultrual exchange program to visit variousasian cities such as taipei, hsinchu, beijing, tianjin, and shanghaiwith great success. This year, we were invited to participate in the northen california international teen festival, in which our studentswill put on an exclusive performance to express our chinese culture. These dance instruction and public performance programs help toestablish and develop chinese dance overseas.
