Programs: The alabama leadership training program conducted in february 2013 provided 25 korean students and 5 teachers with an eleven day leadership training opportunity in various fields such as high technology, the automotive industry, civics, high school education, higher education, history, and culture. The program brought these students and teachers to alabama to experience various aspects of american culture, education, and business. This program was funded largely with in-kind donations estimated at $79,000 for expenses such as for meals, lodging, customized programs, welcome event and dinner, matching with host families, tour program, bus transportation, and a graduation ceremony. The alabama leadership training program offered korean students and teachers a high quality educational program through local and global community collaberation.
'the bridge' is the bilingual, educational magazine published by a-keep. This magazine features relevant articles on a-keep's mission and purpose, and issues and actions on cultural ethnic differences. The magazine serves to bridge different perspectives by highlighting local leaders who bridge the gap, student leaders who exemplify good character of "bridging the gap", and business leaders who nurture our overall mission. The bridge will promote diversity, global leadership, and harmony in this community through its distribution to approximately 2,000 businesses and organizations.
the two lines-dmz photo exhibition is an on-going project which began in april 2013. The exhibition's photos and copyrights are being provided in-kind by gyeong-gi tourism organization (gto) and are valued at $40,000. The exhibit will be presented in montgomery, alabama during the month of april 2014. The project is being promoted through 2,000 mailouts and 1,100 brochures which were printed as an in-kind donation valued at $450. In addition to promoting the project to the alabama-korean community, the project was promoted to the german population and german industries in alabama through attendance at the alabama-germany partnership conference. Also, the organization's staff attended a local fundraiser to research fundraising options for the project.
