Mission: The special olympics mission is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The mission of 2015 special olympics world summer games organizing committee, inc. , is to produce and stage a world-wide competition for special olympics athletes from over 170 countries in 2015. The competitions will be in los angeles from july 25 to august 2, 2015, after which the organization will be dissolved.
Programs: The 2015 special olympics world summer games in los angeles will be the largest sports and humanitarian event in 2015 and will include 7,000 athletes from over 170 countries. Supported by 3,000 coaches and 30,000 volunteers, they will compete in 24 events over a 9-day period. The venues will be world-class, including olympic villages at usc and ucla and a star-studded opening ceremony at the los angeles memorial coliseum, site of the 1932 and 1984 olympic games.
