Programs: Mentoring: this program focuses on mentoring to african american males beginning in middle school. Mentees who enroll in the program are eligible to receive a scholarship award upon graduation from high school. Various activities, such as picnics and field trips to cultural and sporting events, are held throughout the year to mentor to the youth. The collegiate 100 mentoring subprogram is designed to get college students involved in the community mentoring process. Act prep is another subprogram of mentoring designed to help students wanting to go to college in louisiana score high enough on the act test to qualify for the state's tops scholarship.
health and wellness: this program is designed to seek and fulfill special needs at local schools and organizations in the community. Health fairs are also held to screen african-american males, both young and old, for diseases common to african-americans. Beginning in fy 2017 a wise guys program was begun to prevent adolescent pregnancy and stds/hiv by teaching adolescent males self-responsibility in areas of sexual development, decision-making, and relationships.
