Lifestyles for the Disabled is a fantastic organization. I admire their courage, leadership, and generous hearts.

Lifestyles for the Disabled on Staten Island is a program worthy of acknowledgement. The administrators and staff truly are professional and caring towards all...clear on their mission and do so with integrity and enthusiam..

My friend's mom works with special needs adults, not at lifestyles, but she supports the Lifestyles for the disabled program and believes in the abilities of all individuals. thanks for doing something so special that we all can benefit from.

I admire Lifestyles for the Disabled and all that they stand for. I feel this is a one of a kind program and non-profit. The minute I listened to the program and found out about the organization, I was instantly touched and had complete and utter respect for the volunteers and all of the work that the group does. We need to see more organizations such as LFTD. They really are making a difference and focusing on a group that does not receive as much attention as other non-profit organizations (e.i. breast cancer).

A very close friend of mine's son, Frankie, participates in this program. Since he has belonged to this group, with its dedicated leaders, his life has become more fulfilled. Lifestyles has opened up a new world to Frankie. He now enjoys his every day experiences and has developed true friendships. He is not only learning new things, like the radio program that he enjoys so much, but is also learning skills to help him succeed in life.

My friend Chrissie keeps telling me about this special program so I checked it out it is amazing! I enjoy the radio program and now the interviews on itunes too..good job to everyone involved.

This a great program, it gives people with disabilities a wonderful place to go. They benefit from the socializing and finding a place to fit in and groups to enjoy. Very special people work there for very special people.

Lifestyles is a fantastic organization. Everyone who works there is kind, compassionate and hard working. It seems like every chance they get, they expand and open a new section which enables its clients to develop a brand new set of skills. Years ago they opened he cafe and now he radio station, he golf eam and the peewee program. They truly help all people, all ages, grow. There aren't enough programs like this to meet the needs of this very special community. Hats off to the Lifestyles crew!!

Two of my brothers attend the Lifestyles for the Disabled program. I know the staff has been nothing but helpful and caring towards my brothers. They provide so much for the individuals that attend this program. With the few programs available for those affected with autism or any other disability after they graduate school at 21, Lifestyles was by far the best program available. My brothers are happy there so that makes my family love this program.

My brother Robert is part of Lifestyles. His personality and behavior has really grown and changed since he started there. He still has his moments for sure but the staff there are the best at calming him and knowing how to handle the situation. I feel it's an excellent resource for the disabled to grow and learn what it is to feel and be independent respected members of society.

this program is one of the coolest things ive ever seen, joel runs a very fun show and really helps out the people. the world needs good people like this in this world. if anyone deserves a break, its lifestyles radio

This program is simply amazing. its a very welcoming environment that takes Developmentally disabled adults and provides them with a daily program filled with different groups to best fit the clients abilities and preference, giving them compensation for the work done. the staff are extremely loving, and really do care for the clients as the clients enjoy their staff. Not only is it a hard working environment but a bonding experience. The clients really enjoy coming each day, where they spend time with their peers ,and improve their skills to be the best that they can be in life. Every friday in the summer we provide a BBQ for the clients and hold a dance party and karaoke to celebrate a good weeks work has once again been accomplished.

My friend Frankie attends Lifestyles and I can see how much of an improvement it has made in his socialization skills.

i can't begin to tell you how wonderful this organization is; my two autistic sons-21 and 23 yrs old both attend the lifestyles program daily.if it wasn't for this caring,respectful,professional organization,my wife and i would be at a complete loss for how we could provide a dignified,valuable place in society for our two boys.a dedicated staff,along with an extremely resourceful and professional and truly loving administration is what separates this organization from the rest.strong administration on the front end ends up setting the standards for the staff as to what the children and adult consumers get at the back end and i can unequivocally state that this nonprofit is a clear winner;i am unable to craft in words how lucky we are to have someplace like this for our two boys who both love going to lifestyles each and every day-God bless them all !

I manage a recreational facility where hundreds of clients from Lifestyles have become members over the past few years. Their dedicated staff utilize our center several days a week making a positive difference in the lives of all who attend. From socialization to computer classs to game room activities or most importantly, developing a healthier lifestyle through fitness and aerobic programs...the Lifestyle team is an amazing crew who are extremely dedicated and can achieve greater heights with additional resources. I am very proud of the partnership we have created and look forward to future endeavors.

My son has been a part of Lifestyles for the last 5 years and we are blessed to be a part of this program. It has offered him an opportunitity to gain self confidence and learn to live and work independently. The staff are so wonderful and caring. We could not ask for a better environment.
He has learned skills to care for himself and the program focuses on the individual. It also allows him to socialize and develop self esteem.
There is nothing better for our son and we are so happy with his progress.

My friend Kara works here, and this is all she talks about! She LOVES it here! I know she loves it, cos she talks about it so much. I can not wait to come visit Lifestyles when I return to New York!! I hear she grew some great peppers in the green house!! And I loved hearing her on the radio!! I know how much Lifestyles means to Kara, so I can only imagine what it means to everyone else and their families. This program is great, and I can't wait to see how it will flourish. Lifestyles is a wonderful venue for our young adults with developmental disabilities. I've visited their restaurant and other areas where the clients work. It's such a rewarding feeling. My step, granddaughter is doing so well with them and will be placed in a group home shortly, My daughter and husband are so happy and satisfied, it took away all their worries.

My sister Kara attends Lifestyles everyday. She works in the greenhouse and she loves it! I enjoy when she brings home flowers she has made or peppers she's grown for me to make for dinner with. She looks forward to going to work everyday and to see her friends. I have visited Lifestyles a few times and have also met the wonderful staff. Ths program is outstanding! The grounds are beautifuly landscaped and clean. The staff at Lifestyles are caring, supportive, patient and overall kind and genuine. The programs at Lifestyles are great. The greenhouse, Lifestyles Cafe, Lifestyles Radio, among many others are a great way to make friends, learn new skills and just to have a fun time! I hope my sister Kara can continue to work at Lifestyles for years to come!

As a professional who spent a career working with people with disabilities in both New York and New Jersey,I have been impressed with Lifestyles For The Disabled on Staten Island since its inception 15 years ago.They were one of the first agencies for adults with disabilities that provides a seamless transition from the school aged programs ending at age twenty-one to adulthood. Having on their Board of Directors parents of children with disabilites ensures a consumer minded orientation of the agency from Executive Director to each person on staff. The experience of the administration in this field is without peer.The clientele are constantly involved in full integration into the Staten Island community ; one sees the vans,the staff and the adults everywhere . From mall vistiations to shrubbery improvement projects to community activities such as minor league ball games and Christmas tree lightings , Life styles is there. They promote physical activities through swimming, bowling, zumba as part of the progarm. The many trips and excursions to Washington,D.C.,Hershey Park,Atlantic City provide peer integration and development of socialization skills. . They are an excellent organization .

Lifestyles give a great sense of community, work and commitment. The staff is incredible and involves the families and surrounding community of all involved. I have worked at programs for the developmentally challenged in the past and I can say that Lifestyles is the best.

I have been in the field of disabikity programs for many, many years both professionally and personally. Never before haveI seen or been involved with a program so superior as LIFESTYLES FOR THE DISABLED. All programs provide services but LIFESTYLES goes the extra mile. Every consumer is treated as an individual with all of their wants and needs taken into account as an individual not as part of a group of people. The program is always evolving to meet the continuing changing needs of the consumers. No limit is ever projected as to what a particular person will do but rather expectations are limitless. Over the past few years I have seen 2 of my children grow far beyond what could have been forseen for them. Not only do they love the program, the program staff loves them. For this very reason, 2 more of my children have just joined th program and I know that they will have the same success that the first two have had. Also, just for the record, Lifestyle took a great leap in accepting my oldest child as she is totally different than any othe consumer that they have had in the past. It may have taked a while fo this to happen, but once they made a promise they never went back on their word. They will for the first time be accepting a person who is physically disable along with all of the many challenges that this will bring forth. This truly shows the committment that all involved in this program have for the benefit of all who need their program and want to belong. No obstcle has ever been thrown at them that they were not willingto find the way to a solution. I could not be more thankful and greatful for all of the wonderfull and inovative people and programs at Lifestyles. I feel that our family has really been blessed with this relationship. As a parent of children with disabilities it is nice to be able to feel that my children are happy, well treated, safe, and respected as human beings. I really do not know where we would be without LIFESTYLES FOR THE DISABLED.

My son is attending LifeStyles since September I am very impressed on how much he has matured my family and friends have also noticed how well he is doing. He really looks foward to attending the program and he especially likes Thrusday night that is when he attends the transition home they have become a second family to him. Initially I was afraid that he might not fit in he was in a school setting at the same school for six years I know he was frustrated and bored of doing the same things everyday in the same classroom year in year out. When I visited the LifeStyle program with him he was reluctant and told me he was not ready for it and did not like it. He was also afraid to move on from his safe haven the place he was so familiar with for so many years. Everyone I spoke to highly recommended this program there was nothing but wonderful praises. I decided we will give it a chance if he did not fit in then I would move him back to school. It has opended new doorways for him he is sharing with other children his age, going on wonderful trips that he never would have been able to experience if not for this program. They are teaching him different task how to do a bed, how to participate and help out during dinner. At home he would not do these task but at Lifestyles he is more than happy to apply himself and show them that he can do them.
Thank you LifeStyles for the opportunity you have given my child to grow and become aware of what he is able to accomplish on his own. I cant say it enough times, "the program is wonderful and the staff is marvelous" .

my son frankie is a participant of lifestyles. it is the best thing that has ever happened to him. he loves being there! there are so many wonderful programs - it would be impossible not to find something to enjoy doing and learning from. the recent addition of the radio/media program is awesome. the staff members are so caring and they really understand each individual's needs. they are so approachable and the communication between staff and family is great. it truly is the best program on staten island and i believe i have seen them all.

Lifestyles, is an important, vital organization that has transformed the lives of thousands, both the developmentally disabled and it's staff that provides teaching, mentoring and overall caring. The Organization is not only fiscally responsible to its donors but accountable to the community it coexists with. It has shown the world that people with disabilities are proud, contributing members of the society we all share.

My neighbor's son is in the program and I have seen him mature, gain self esteem and truly enjoy himself as he participates in the many programs at Lifestyles. Ron is in the GREENHOUSE and cultivates the kitchen garden, beautifies public spaces and makes flower arrangements. Kris is in the CAFE learning food prep and all skills related to the food industry. Damian is part of the RADIO STATION, JEWLERY MAKING, NEEDLE POINT and CREATIVE WRITING. Everything he loves. Alan is in the WOODSHOP and is learning the proper use of tools and creating beautiful projects.

My daughter has been client of Lifestyles for over 10 years, and they have taken excellent care to move her forward in her life socially, creatively, and personally. This is an incredible organization. When I first looked at several workshop situations I was very concerned because I felt they were robotic in the sense of the work the clients had to do and left no room for individual personality. Coming to visit Lifestyles, I felt the sky opened and knew my daughter would do well there. I have total and open communication with the staff at all levels, whenever I want they will talk and discuss things with me, so how else can I say this, I love them!!!!

Our son Jesse is part of the Lifestyles Family. I use that word family because the people that surround our child treat him with respect and dignity. They also individualize each of their participants and get to know them which is a rare commodity. The communication we have with this agency is phenominal. This is critical because Jesse is non verbal. They have given him opportunities unlike any other agency thru the transition house. He loves his friends and loves the awesome trips he gets to go on. We adore Jesse's extended family.

I have had the privilege of being involved with lifestyles for several years. I've taken the opportunity to visit many of the programs from the wood shop to the café and even the greenhouse. I've enjoyed watching the consumers take pride in their daily tasks. They genuinely enjoy what they are doing and interacting with all the other people in the program. The staff is extremely caring and attentive and always making sure that the consumer is getting the maximum out of the program they in. Management has run several programs/benefits in an effort to do even more for the consumers. Even at their charity events the consumers are an integral part of the program. Management is constantly improving their internal operations to ensure efficiency with regard to consumer needs. This organization is and has been a blessing to Staten Island families for many years. I can only hope it continues to be for many more years. An organization like lifestyles is irreplaceable and deserving of all the awards it has received to date. I will continue to support lifestyles and their programs.

Some of my friends are members of Lifestyles for the Disabled and they are pretty cool, especially with the new Lifestyles Radio program and all. I think they do great things there.

Our daughter attends Lifestyles! When we were looking at programs a while ago, there was not a doubt in our minds that Lifestyles was the one! When we went to view the program the staff was so attentive to the consumers and everyone there was so happy. The staff answered all of our questions and believe me we had lots of questions. One of the many things that made us choose Lifestyles was our daughter seem to fit right in, It was as if she belonged there. It's been over four years since she started Lifestyles and she still gets up in the morning excited and with a smile on her face and ready to attend Lifestyles. We are proud to be a part of the Lifestyles Family and we are very thankful to the wonderful staff. As our daughter always say's "Lifestyles is the best"

This organization have help so many people. Knowing and keeping in mind that they will not deserve anything in return. They havent help me physically, BUT I KNOW A LOT OF ELDERLY PEOPLE THAT BENEFITED FROM THIS. They did help me spiritual wise... Im in college in WORD Of Life Bible Intitude, im going to become a missionary...M y motivation ar ethe kids the people in the hoods and bad neiborhoods... But with this organization i saw the needs that elderly people need and also the disable ones.... I PERSONALLY know a lady that she was born not able to walk but now with Jesus Christ in her life she running the marathon. SHE RUNNING THE RACE AND SHE WANTS TO END WELL.

Lifetyles is wonderful nurturing program for adults with special needs. I am a parent of one of a special needs adult and was always concerned for her future. Lifestyles has answered my prayers above my expectations. Just walking around the grounds and seeing all those happy smiling faces brings a warm feeling to know that a special segment of our society is enjoying live. The staff is wonderful, the programs are interesting and self fulfilling. The consumers "work" at their specific jobs and it gives them a feeling of being part of the community and self worth. The newest project, the radio station, has been nothing short of spectacular. The time and effort that goes into this program, by Joel and Burak, shows in the response they've been getting. Having my daughter in this program has taken the worry and stress of raising a special needs child. I know she is happy and fulfilled.

I have been lisetning to the Lifestyles Radio program for a few months now. As a Special Education Teacher I am so impressed with the way the program is run. They are enabling the clients to have a sense of purpose in the community. Something that I feel is a rarity with the disabled population. With funding I know this program can reach a lot more of our "SPECIAL" Community.
