I grew up in Putnam County; in Bostwick and the Bardin/Carraway area.
Mom, Dad, and five boys.
As my Dad was an itinerant Ranch Hand, I'm sure our family benefited from organizations that preceded Feed the Need of Putnam County (FNPC).
I left home right after High School, and the rest of the family also left for parts unknown.
Our Mom eventually moved back to Palatka, and I also moved back briefly when she became ill.
When she passed, we boys agreed on a recurring donation to FNPC in her memory.
Great organization with great leader! Getting weekend food to 800 students is a massive challenge which Feed the Need meets every week. Keeping kids fed is critical to their success in school and in life.
Their goal can be a challenge at times but working together with local communities and volunteers is a blessing towards feeding children.
Feed the Need has been serving Putnam County children for many years. They have grown in recent years and have made such an impact for our children who might otherwise not have much, if any, food for the weekends. Thank you Feed the Need!
I love what the feed the need has done for the Putnam county I think they are doing a great job keeping all the hungry kid feed
It was an amazing experience. I got to help others and meet new people that enjoy helping the community and set a beautiful example. I aspire to be just like everyone here who helps out the community.
Feed the Need is a non-profit organization that feeds hungry children through a school program distributing snack packs on Friday afternoons. My husband and I have volunteered for this incredible organization for over a year. I work in the warehouse sorting food and also at a school preparing the snack bags for distribution to needy families. What makes this an incredible program is the caring people who wish to make our community a better place.
I became involved with Feed the Need of Putnam County when my son was in elementary school. While eating lunch with him, I noticed kids and teachers putting unopened snacks in the windows and other children grabbing them. I asked and was told that was one way they helped hungry students. I later learned about FTN, an organization that sends home food with children on Fridays so they can eat over the weekend. I started volunteering in the packing / sorting area. I was impressed to see that all food and money went straight to feeding kids. I became a board member and was even more impressed by the time and dedication that Denise, board members, and volunteers have toward the goal of feeding children in our low-income county. This is an amazing charity!
I am proud of the exceptional work that Denise provides for the children of Palatka! She always finds a way to provide the food for FTN! I have volunteered at FTN for 3 years packing supplies that are passed out to schools in Palatka! Children who have no food in the home are feed on the weekend due to FTN and Denise’s expert drive, procurement process and love ! Bravo !
Such a great group to support and volunteer for.
They truly have a heart for feeding the children of Putnam County.
Feed the Need is an amazing nonprofit. It was born from a simple idea and has grown and grown and grown. I have worked with Feed the Need in a few different capacities. Years ago as a school counselor at on of our high schools, I often identified students who may need the Feed the Need services each week. It was so nice to have somewhere to turn to help these students. I remember one particular family that lived near the school, but the mother and only parent had a serious terminal illness. She just could not always make sure there was food in the house due to her condition. I felt good because I knew that FtN would get food home to those kids and ensure they would not go hungry through the weekend or when school was out. I have also participated in a packing event. They are amazing events where you see our community come together and work together. Finally, FtN now gets school supplies and as part of my work with AVID in our district, I am able to supply our teachers with some much needed supplies. FtN is amazing. They truly figure out what the need is and feed it!!
The Feed The Need team is amazing! The work and effort they put into making sure food and supplies are available to those in need is priceless. I have told so many about their mission and the awesome things they do so that others can get behind them and support them.
Our little community has little to almost none resources for food that focuses on the children; until Feed the Need of Putnam County began their assistance. Many of the food pantries are during the day when a single parent or parents are working; therefore, unable to participate without hurting their paycheck. Especially, now that the cost of food products has sword to outrageous prices. Thus, home meals are contained of mostly high starch items or sugar packed snacks (because they are more affordable). Feed the Need looks out for the healthy aspects when it pertains to growing children.
I've been associated with this wonderful organization for many years now and I have to say that they go far and beyond to assure that the children in Putman County have food when they go home on the weekends. Our schools provide breakfast and lunch for these children, however when they leave Friday afternoon many of them would not have anything to eat until they return to school if it weren't for Feed the Need of Putnam County. I highly praise the people who run this organization as well as all the many volunteers that work hard every day to make sure that no child goes hungry.

Feed the Need is a great organization that helps the children in Putnam County !!
It deserves all the help we can give whether monetary or time.
Not only does this organization fill a huge resource gap in our community to help provide a safety net for children who have limited access to food at home, it also provides an outlet for the local community to get involved! My middle and high school aged Girl Scout robotics team had the opportunity to volunteer last year and ended their service hours changed and humbled after learning about the depth of food insecurities in our own community. These girls will one day be leaders who rise to challenges in their communities to make a difference.
As a long time volunteer of FTN I get great satisfaction from helping children that are in need of food This is a totally voluntary program none of the staff are compensated for there work

As a member of the Putnam county community, I am honored to have served this selfless cause. This was a wonderful experience where folks from all walks of life, all ages, came together and worked as a team to package meals for the community. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of this project.
As the Executive Director of a nonprofit that provides food to Feed the Need, I have visited and evaluated how Feed the Need operates. They have many hard-working volunteers devoting lots of time, energy, and effort (not to mention money) each week to provide food to children who would otherwise go hungry. During the school year, many children receive breakfast and lunch at school, but these same children often suffer from hunger when school is not in session. So Feed the Need provides food to these children on weekends and over the summer break. Studies show that children who suffer from chronic undernutrition perform less well in school, are absent more often, have more physical and mental health issues, and have more behavioral issues. Keeping kids fed is essential and Feed the Need is doing just that and doing it well and cost-efficiently.
Our community has a very large number of children who do not have the security of knowing they will have enough food to feed and nourish them when they go home from school. An amazing group of people in our community came together to form Feed the Need of Putnam County which is going a long way to meeting this need in children's homes. There are many ways to volunteer and to contribute and ever contribution is important in these children's lives. Children are furnished with food when they go home on the weekends and during the summer which is shared with siblings and other family members. I have contributed time and dollars to this cause because a child shouldn't have to worry about being hungry anywhere in the world.
