I have worked with Operation Support Our Troops - America for 10 years, starting when my son went into the Army and I coordinated a large donation through my employer for their boxes of donated items to service members in harms way. I was so impressed with their programs, volunteers and outreach, so, as Executive Director of Little Smoke Chicago, an organization that holds events and raises donations for local charities, I added them to our charities that we donate to. Over the last 10 years, we have donated over $10,000 to OSOTA, and will certainly add to that with our upcoming event on Saturday, September 8th. Sue, Bill and Deb work tirelessly to organize so many events and programs to benefit our men and women in uniform. We are so grateful for their efforts! Thank you!!
14 years ago I retired and was looking for a place to volunteer. My friend, a gold star Mom told me about OSOT. Since I'm a patriotic gal (I was already providing "thank you for your service" cards to Veterans Hospitals) this was a nice fit. I enjoy the easy comradery and providing blank Holiday greeting cards, thank you cards, beanie babies, small games and crafts for the care packages and Christmas stockings by shopping at thrift shops.
As recent volunteers at OSOT we are very happy to share this review. OSOT sends comfort and care packages to deployed troops. With a son in the military we know how important these thoughful and useful packages with a little piece of home are when they arrive to our deployed troops. The conditions and situations that our troops are experiencing are hardships and can often be dangerous. Being away from family for months at a time with little contact these packages are greatly appreciated by all who receive them. In addition OSOT Offers other supports to veterans and Gold Star Families continuing their support beyond deployed troops. GI YOGA,, Veterans Assistance Program and Leap of Faith are programs also supported by the hard work of the staff and volunteers at OSOT. Volunteering at OSOT has been very rewarding as the staff is friendly, organized and appreciative of every volunteer who shows up. It is a pleasure to give your time to such a well run organization that is providing very needed supports to our service people, Veterans and their families.
Operation Support our Troops America is a well-versed organization that helps all aspects of our military community. From Leap of Faith for Gold Star families to care packages for active duty deployed service members, there is something for everyone. There are also programs to help vets.

This group is first class all the way. Whether it’s helping by sending care packages to the troops or helping vets in need. Operation Support our Troops America has donated time and support to Fischer House and vets at Hines. The Leap of Faith is a world class event for Gold Star families. All this good was the dream of an Army mom who took it, ran with it, and turned it into a dynamo.
OSOT-America is a great place to volunteer. I've been volunteering for them for a little more than a year on a regular basis and it is clear that everything they do is a labor of love for the staff and the volunteers. OSOT is very well organized and is always looking for ways to improve. It is a wonderful organization that provides a very important role in maintaining the morale of our deployed troops. My favorite emails are the ones sent by OSOT that include letters from service members who have received either Comfort & Care packages or Holiday Stockings. It is truly heartwarming to know that we can make a difference in the lives of those who work so hard to protect our freedom.

OSOT is a wonderful non-profit organization, doing great work. It is one of National Charity League's favorite philanthropies to volunteer for. The staff and volunteers are great to work with and dedicated.
This is a wonderful organization that does such great work. I am always happy to come and support them and their mission.
Me and my service dog love to work here, it is our 'home away from home' quoted by Jeremy. We love creating the care packages.

My community support specialist starting bringing me here to volunteer and I love it, and so does my service dog, Boone. It's been great meeting new people and I like the feeling of a sense of purpose that volunteering here provides. When I was serving, I really liked receiving the packages and now I am happy to return that favor to those currently serving.
Operation Support our Troops-America is an excellent organization supporting our deployed service people by sending comfort and care packages and supporting our veterans in many other ways! It continues to be my favorite place to volunteer on a regular basis because it is so efficient and well run.

I have been volunteering at Operation Support our Troops America for three years and am amazed at the amount of donations we receive and pack to send our deployed service members. The responses we get from the recipients bring tears to my eyes. It seems that many of them have no others sending them care packages, so I feel like the efforts of OSOT are filling a great human need when we let them know we care!
This is the best group of caring and supportive people imaginable!! They do so much with love for the Troops and Veterans!
Was going through very rough times with medical ailments, caring for my dying grandfather, and years of probate court. Spent up all my saving during COVID. My vehicle needed some important repairs to be safe for the road and to get me to multiple employment and internship opportunities, medical and PTSD appointments. Was stuck with nowhere to turn to. OSOT helped pay for half of my auto repair costs and insurance to get me on the right path again. Before OSOT i was out of options and spiraling fast, now with my vehicle reliable again im working two jobs and ahead of all my medical appointments and procedures! It was a lot of back and forth for months but Thank you OSOT for giving a combat vet a needed push! Thank you especially to Traci Slater and Linda Tuisl for the extended logistics it took to get through the process! Very kind and helpful ladies.
This is a fantastic organization that does so much for the troops. So much care is put into the care packages they send. Supporting this organization helps so many of our heroes who sacrifice so much. It is a great place to donate items for the troops, as well as a great place to volunteer at. Everyone at OSOT is always very friendly and appreciative.
i started by sewing Christmas stockings and ornaments. Then I came out to the warehouse to see how my stockings were packed full of goodies for our soldiers. That led to volunteering to pack comfort and care boxes. It is a lot of fun to volunteer and know that you are doing something good to bless a soldier serving so I can live peaceably in this country.
I found OSOTA in 2015 and volunteered with them (and at their Rockin' for the Troops event) before I moved out of the state. But when I moved back here, I had to rejoin to hep volunteer again! I love how they're so friendly and supportive of all service members and first responders. They also do such an awesome job participating in community and neighborhood events to further spread awareness about their organization. I love coming to help pack boxes, organize donations or do whatever they need me to do on Saturdays. So happy to be able to give some of my time each month with them again!
This is a great organization with highly motivated staff. Almost every dollar collected goes to helping active duty and retired military members. The 25-pound care boxes sent to active-duty troops is a wonderful program.
Operation Support Our Troops- America provides many services: send care packages to men and women serving our country. Provide financial help up for a veteran. A retreat with seminars for families who lost a loved one while serving our country.

I have had the privilege of being associated with OSOT America since 2004. I have seen first hand the valuable work their dedicated volunteers provide day after day. These volunteers are dedicated, caring and loyal. I have also seen the fruits of their efforts to assist our military and their families year after year. This organization is certainly deserving of support.
I've been so excited to be able to bring my (therapy client) veteran here! They get such satisfaction from helping our current serving troops. I love how they talk about the excitement of getting out and doing good for others, and I've seen their self-esteem lifted since volunteering here!
Operation Support Our Troops America is a phenomenal organization whose sole mission is to support our troops and their families! Their Comfort & Care boxes are sent world wide. The Leap of Faith Program, a 3 day seminar for Gold Star Families has been truly transformational for more than 500 families. The volunteers work selflessly all because of their love for our troops!
One of the most unique aspects of this NFP is that it is member based and our members are what drives us and makes us who we are. They offer several programs from care packages, gold star family support, and distressed veteran assistance.

I volunteer with 7 other organizations and this one is by far my favorite. They are so kind and welcoming and their mission is a wonderful and amazing cause. I would not be as involved in the community as I am now if it wasn’t for them!
OSOT-America is an awesome military non profit. They really assist Gold Star families in coping with their loss and making a positive impact for the future. The many lives that OSOT-America has affected over the past 20 + is tremendous. The world is a better place with all the support OSOT-America has give to our active duty military, their families , veterans and families of the fallen.

It's great to see the positive response from our deployed men and women who appreciate the comfort and care packaged.
I've only been volunteering since Sept 2021 but it has been so rewarding. I've spread the word to my neighbors, friends and family to try and collect the many items we need.
Outstanding organization!!!!!! I love volunteering here! Wish I had more time to be able to help them.
OSOT-A is a great organization that helps our current Armed Forces members and Veterans. The Mission is something you easily support. I encourage everyone to take a moment and review the website: https://www.osotamerica.org/
I have volunteered with OSOT-A for eight years now. It has been a wonderful organization that has provided a tremendous amount of support to the military and their families.

It is an organization like no other. It is heavily volunteered based, so nearly every penny goes directly to supporting the programs. They have sent over 2 million pounds of goods to service men and women all over the world. Beyond the care and comfort side, heavy emphasis on Gold Star families with our unique Leap of Faith program. They also provide immediate and stop gap assistance to needy veterans. A great organization filled with the most grateful patriotic Americans our country has.
As a supporter of the board, I can say that this group is truly committed to the missions they serve, as well as extremely efficient in their operations. This ensures that time and resource are deployed most directly towards service members, veterans, and families of the fallen. Not many groups out there that span support for those currently in harm's way, those in transition, and the Families of the Fallen.
Proud to work with this organization!

This is an amazing organization that truly care about veterans and their families. Each member of this organization truly cares!
I started volunteering for this group with my Girl Scout troop (7th-8th grade) who wanted to earn their silver award. Each girl put in over 50 hours of work with OSOT, packing boxes, making hundreds of stockings for the Holidays and organizing donation drives. I love working there - the people are wonderful and the military really enjoys receving a "bit of home" when they are so far away. This is a much-needed organization!
I am so proud to say I volunteer at OSOT-America. They do great things for the military. I help to pack and ship out care packages to our military that are serving in other countries. It is really fun to work with other volunteers for such a good cause. It really helps me appreciate what our mlitary deals with and how they can't get some items, so we ship them out to them with other fun treats, snacks and the kids make cards and letters for them thanking them for their service. I really enjoy helping out.
Over the past two years, I have experienced various volunteer roles with the organization Operation Support Our Troops-America, from donating items for their Comfort and Care Package Program to completing an unpaid accounting internship. Each volunteer opportunity allowed me to interact with different parts of the organization and to get to know those involved with the mission of the organization. They are all very welcoming; it is like joining and being a part of a big family. Everyone, especially those employed, is dedicated to the mission of supporting the well-being of the troops and letting them know that they have not been forgotten. In fact, the majority, nearly 90 cents, of every dollar the organization receives goes toward this mission. I hope this organization will continue to support America's active duty military, veterans, and their families for the many years to come!
This organization does outstanding work supporting deployed active military, veterans and their families as well as Gold Star families through a number of great programs. They ship comfort and care packages to troops in harm’s way filled with needed items from home. They also provide financial support to veterans in crisis and provide healing and wellness seminars for families of the fallen. They even hold G.I. Yoga classes in person and online. They have great group of volunteers and a very lean and dedicated staff. It’s all about letting our military heroes know they are not forgotten. Far exceeds all the way!!
OSOTA continues to honor our military with many programs aimed to recognize the sacrifice they make for us each day. During these unsetting times, it is especially note-worthy to know OSOTA is serving our men and women both home and aboard. Their mission to support the morale and well-being of our troops and their families displays great dedication and loyalty.
I was lucky enough to receive a care package during each of my two deployments. When I received the first one I could not believe how large and heavy it was and when I opened it, I was amazed at just how much was packed into the box! This was a great touch from home and meant a lot to me and my fellow Soldiers who also joined me in enjoying the care package. A great care package from a great organization.
I am a volunteer with OSOT-America and have always been impressed with their ability to support active duty military, but they also evolve to support veterans and their families too. I have seen them grow and add new programs as needed. This is a first-rate organization and I am proud of all they do.
Great focus on our Armed Forces personnel and Veteran community! Welcome more volunteers to get involved - our new Executive Director, a Veteran himself, is leading continued growth and innovation. Great organization!
Reason for 4 rating vs. 5 - there is always room for achieving excellence!
"Operation Support our Troops - America" sponsored an amazing event during last years Veterans Day! The event lasted for over a week in commemoration of the 100 year anniversary of the official ending of WW1. It was a "Healing Field of Honor" in Naperville Il. They had 2019 American Flags on Rotary Hill. The event was titled "Remembering a Century of Hero's & Heritage." The event brought in thousands of people and many flags were purchased. The moneys will be used to support Veterans and active Military personnel.
I am on the board of several nonprofits after serving in uniform for over thirty years. OSOT-A is an amazing organization that continuously identifies methods of helping our service members around the world. Everyone talk about support the troops - these people do.
Each year, our students collect items to donate and write letters to our heroes. We do this around Memorial Day. Our students love to help this great nonprofit!
This is the most thoughtful organization that I have encountered with assisting our Active Duty Servicemembers, as well as our Veterans. The consideration that is given to remove our Veterans out of a homeless situation and or prevent them from totally falling is nothing short of amazing. I have known of Veterans that were unable to pay their rent, but after talking to the organization and presenting the proper documentation, the organization was able to not only assist with the rent, but also secure new employment for the Veteran which added sustainability to their situation. Now, the Veteran can continue on forward with income after they had been brought current. I understand that more great thoughts are being put into practice...true humanitarians!
What an awesome group! My sons and daughter have received boxes, they are the best!
It's great to go in to help pack the boxes, and the other volunteers are so great to work with.
Thanks OSOT!!!
I've known OSOT- America for about 10 years now and it is one of the best run Military Charities around. Also a very high % gets to the guys we are supporting. That is very important.
I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of this organization. The passion, dedication and hard work of our members and volunteers is inspiring. We work hard to provide comfort and support to our service members, veterans and their families and will continue to do so as long as there is a need!

Being a veteran myself, I can relate to the difficulties of being deployed overseas. I can empathize with our men and women who are serving in foreign lands, surrounded by unfamiliar environments and often in precarious situations. And to be so far away from the familiarity and safety of their loved ones may be the most difficult of all. That’s why I humbly and proudly serve to support this amazing organization. I believe every member, volunteer, donor and supporter works tirelessly to support our mission of providing comfort, resources, and education to our troops and their families both while they are deployed in harm's way and after their return.
Operation Support Our Troops-America continues to support our active duty military, their families , our veterans and families of the fallen. The volunteers give their time, talent and resources to continue to support our military. When our 2 son's were deployed, they sent out care packages to them which lifted their spirits and gave them a little piece of home while they were defending our freedoms.
After 16 years they still make a huge difference and effect many lives in a positive way. As long as our men and women who serve our great country , OSOT-America will be there to support them and their families.
This group's commitment to our military community is unwavering. Whether it is deployed troops serving in harm's way, struggling veterans or grieving Gold Star family members they are dedicated to helping where and however they can. I am proud to be a part of their mission.

This organization is an example of what people can do when they are truly committed to a cause. Hundreds of volunteers working together to make the lives of our military community better in any way they can. it is truly inspiring and I'm blessed to be a part of it!
As evolutions takes place in just about every facet of our world and daily lives, Operation Support our troops-America has also evolved. Over the years, the organization had begun to provide very strong supportive services to current Military Servicemembers, and to the Veteran community at large (the Veteran and the spouse). It stood up it's Allen J Lynch Medal of Honor Veteran's Assistance Program (AJ Lynch MOH Vet Assist. Prog.), which is like no other. The program provides a Onetime Grant that is very effective in that it gives the Veteran a hand-up that does not only bring the Veteran out of a bad situation, it also assist with restoring dignity through it's respectful approach to the situation, which can be very motivational to a Veteran to get them energize and moving forward. I also found that the program operates from moral characteristics that are found within the Military community, as well as the promises that every servicemember makes to each other while serving; Never accept defeat, and Never leave a fallen comrade. The program honors the service that is given to each Veteran, and it does it with great significance; rental assistance to prevent homelessness, or the return from homelessness, utility bill assistance, unique personal needs for women Veterans, and a host of others categories are attended to. Even if criteria is not met for receiving a Onetime Grant, the AJ Lynch MOH Vet Assist. Prog wants every Veteran to leave with tools / information that will guide them towards there goal. The program also assist Veterans that are enrolled in a training that is promised to carry them to a new fulltime career that offers real sustainability. Financial literacy classes are also being offered in an effort to ensure that the Veteran can continue on with understanding the importance of creating a personal budget, as well as managing it. Operation Support Our Troops-America fully understands the true meaning of comprehensive needs for Veterans, as well as Loyalty, Duty and Respect to those who served us so Honorably.

Operation Support Our Troops– America is on the cutting edge of not-for-profit’s who serve both the military community and the veteran community. When a service member is deployed they may receive a comforting care package. Through the Allen J. Lynch, Medal of Honor, Veteran’s Assistance Program qualified veterans may receive a grant for such things as utility payments, rent payments, automobile purchase and repair and a myriad of other needs. Grants are paid to the service provider and never directly to the veteran. Grants are meant to be a hand up and not a handout. The veteran must be involved in their journey to gainful employment and financial stability.
We also work with women veterans through the Women Veteran’s Wellness Project a part of the Lynch program. The women’s project sponsors one-day events in which women are provided access to resources specific to their special needs. During the day in addition to receiving needed information and medical screening they are also provided daycare.
Most recently we partnered with the Utility Workers Union in Chicago to assist veterans involved in the Utility Workers Military Assistance Program, (UMAP), this program provides six months of training. Following successful completion of training and a paid internship, veterans are employed by People’s Gas.
Additionally, through the Leap of Faith Program, we are able to reach out to gold star family members and provide assistance to them in coping with the loss of a loved one.
I am very proud to have my name associated with this wonderful organization.
Allen J Lynch, Medal of Honor, OSOT Board Member
Been involved with Operation Support Our Troops America on and off for the last 10-12 years. I was lucky enough to receive a box or two while I was deployed and it brought comfort knowing people at home were thinking of us. Fast forward and I enjoy helping with the organization as it expands its programs to further help veterans and service members.
Like a lot of you, I volunteer with many different groups. Operation Support our Troops America is one of my all time favorites. Time spent here is fun, fast paced and rewarding. Knowing that their mission is for our service members overseas, in harm's way and away from their families as well as those returning makes me proud to be a part of this wonderful organization. This is what America is all about.
Operation Support Our Troops- America is a great organization that helps our military, their families and our veterans. They have helped thousands of folks . This year will mark its shipment of its 2 millionth pound of Comfort and Care products shipped to our deployed active duty military personnel and will also have our 19th Leap of Faith seminar for families of the fallen.
I love volunteering for OSOT! While I don't currently have any friends or family serving in the military, my father and brother both served. My brother told me how great it felt to receive goodie boxes from home - definitely a bright spot in an often bleak time. OSOT provides many such bright spots in our deployed troops lives. The staff and volunteers who I have come in contact with are wonderful, caring people. Sorting donations and packing boxes is a joy. Especially fun and satisfying was stuffing the holiday stockings. Working side by side co-workers and strangers - some of them kids learning about taking time to help others - we were sending not only treats and necessities, but lots of loving energy to those who risk their lives protecting us. The biggest event of the year - the Rockin' for the Troops concert - is a blast! Who knew doing good deeds could be so much fun? I highly recommend donating, volunteering, or at minimum attending Rockin' for the Troops to help support this more than worthy cause.
What a wonderful group of people. Not complaining and using their time to sort and pack boxes among other things for our Men and Women deployed. What a Blessing this group is. Our son Tim (Air Force) has been deployed many times away from his Family like so many men and women and has received several packages. He has shared with the guys. We Love you all for what you do. And I know as a Mom who's son is serving they all appreciate the care packages and letters too.
I have two son's actively serving in the US Navy........I found out about OSOT-America in August of 2016.....as soon as I knew this organization existed I decided I wanted to see what they were all about. I volunteered on a Saturday helping pack care packages for our troops. The thought of being able to send a little bit of comfort from home to them made me feel incredibly happy. The organization as a whole is amazing, very well run and organized. I felt welcomed from the first day I came to help out. The care they exhibit towards our deployed troops and our veterans is incredible. I look forward to many more years of being a part of OSOT-America!!
When I came back from Afghanistan in 2010 I was thinking of becoming just a stat and taking my own life. I carried a lot of guilt for living and more for coming home basically in one piece.
Through some friends who are involved with OSTA, I was able to find my way out of that deep dark hole that so many veterans find themselves in. I started giving back through OSTA and the acceptance that I found was unbelievable. I still have issues but I know that there are people, great people, who I have meet through OSTA that are there to help not only myself but many veterans. Some of the programs are beyond words. Be it helping the families of the fallen, putting on fundraising concerts, to direct assistance through the Allen J. Lynch program... this organization does it all. I am alive and moving forward in part because of OSTA and I am proud to continue serving our fellow veterans through the programs of OSTA.
I have been working with Operation Support Our Troops for almost 12 years. I became involved when a student asked if our class could find soldiers to write to & send cards. I have enjoyed working with OSOT & volunteer whenever I can.I have enjoyed attending (and recently helping behind the scenes) at the Rockin' for the Troops concerts. I miss the days when I am unable to be at the warehouse. The volunteers are fantastic. We are all committed to sending the troops the best prepared CARE packages possible. The letters, pictures & memorabilia we receive from our troops make us realize we really are making a difference to the men & women of our armed forces. I am happy & grateful to be part of such a strong, caring & committed organization.
I have been supporting OSOT-America for 10+ years personally and professionally. OSOT-America recognizes that our military folks need support while both active and after coming home, which is very important to the physical and mental health of these men and women who protect our freedom. OSOT-America has been remarkable in determining what the current climate is for our military folks and changing their programs in kind. I'm proud to continue to support this amazing charity.
It's a special feeling I get knowing that my attention and service to this organization, Operation Support Our Troops-America, is bringing a smile to the men and women fighting for peace and safety to this great United States of America. They should be honored everyday for what they do, so helping to send supplies that are greatly appreciated and needed is gratifying to me in return. I have also worked at the various fund raisers we have to raise money as well as awareness of the many opportunities for our returning troops and their families.

This charity helps our military troops in harms way along with their family members struggling with how they are coping with a fallen worrier or with just the fact they are on foreign shores, they get the wonderful support opportunities available. It gives me great pleasure knowing I can do my part as an American the best way I know how. They all sacrifice so much and we here at home are all comfy and cozy because we know our freedom is being protected and cared for by these great men and women. The volunteers at this organization are all so friendly and great to work with. Everyone working together for one common goal....supporting our military troops.
They have sent my son a box when he was deployed--how awesome! No one there knew him or our family and the box was full of wonderful items. It's something he will never forget.
My wife and I have volunteered a couple times with Operation Support our Troops America and it has been a great experience. The communication with those who are in charge is always extremely timely and helpful. While volunteering everyone is friendly and you can really see what the cause means to the people who are working there!
I absolutely love this organization!! It is an organization that helps veterans from birth to infinity. They put the veterans at the forefront of everything and put the veterans first. They help veterans families and of the fallen. Volunteering with this organization has been an amazing time and an eye opener. I wish more young women and men get involved in this nonprofit, it has made a huge impact in my life and couldn't be happier. I cant wait to work more with these awesome volunteers and the directors of this great team they have.
I really enjoy volunteering here, the people are friendly and there is always a variety of things to be done. Some weeks its packing boxes, others working on the upcoming fundraiser and other times volunteering at events to let people know what we do. Plus the thank you notes that are shared from the troops that receive our boxes or the veterans we help, let us know how much we are appreciated.

I worked with Jamie in coordinating a packing event for pre-school and elementary age students. The event was a success! The kids loved learning about OSOT and being able to make cards and fill boxes for the troops. Jamie with OSOT made the process so easy. We'll definitely be scheduling another volunteer event soon.
I received a tour from Jamie and Sue. It was inspiring to see how dedicated they both were to such a great cause. It was clear that they put in a lot of thought and care into every box, which makes this organization really stand out in my heart and mind. Great cause and great people.
It was so meaningful to collaborate with such a great organization, filled with dedicated people. I can't wait to work with this group again!
I usually volunteer at the warehouse and yesterday I walked in the Hinsdale 4th of July Parade handing out candy and information about our Red White and Blues event in September. It was a great day to be outside and the turn out at the parade was fantastic. Glad I was able to do something different!
I love volunteering with Operation Support our Troops. I love knowing that the care boxes I'm packing make a soldier smile. I am amazed by the commitment and dedication of the volunteers who make it all happen, and the wide range of programs available to our servicemen/women and their families.
I have volunteered for OSOT for a few years, I started when my sons received boxes from them while they were deployed. It meant so much to them to have people they did not know want to show their support. I continue to support those who are still out there in harms way!
I started volunteering with Operation Support Our Troops America about 8 years ago, when I was looking for a organization that was close by to donate my time and money to. I started by donating items for care packages, but soon started spending every other Saturday volunteering with them by sorting donated items and assembling care packages. I get real satisfaction knowing that my money and time directly impacts our troops serving in harm's way. You can see it in the letters and photos we get back from the troops. This is a way to make a real difference.
I joined this organization as a volunteer in 2013 and I am so grateful for the care and support we give to our military and their families. The volunteers are always eager to do their part , from something as simple as writing a letter of thanks to these honorable and brave individuals to helping their families cope with the loss of their fallen hero, this organization never stops " doing". I am proud and honored to be a part of this great support system.
I chose to volunteer as a way to give back because I have a son in the military! It has been a wonderful experience with very kind, hardworking people! I have been able to ask other parents who volunteer about different processes in the military. There are many different ways to be a part of this organization.
I met someone who was a volunteer at taste of Westmont 7 years ago who was selling tickets to the Rockn concert and giving out information about the care packages that their organization put together and sent out, from that point on I was hooked. The network support that OSOT provides is phenomenal, They are the go to organization for military families and vets and if they don't have the answer they will direct you to the right resources.

I have had such a positive experience working with this organization, words alone can not even touch on the dedication of the volunteers and all that help support our cause, To hear about the many service people the care packages reach is so heartwarming. I have been had the opportunity to work on our Shop N Drop committee that work with the area grocery stores and the outpouring support of our residents is unbelievable. We will always have soldiers deployed and the need for the care packages we send and to also get involved with more challenges that our soldiers will encounter as they continue to come home.
I first got involved after my son received a care package from OSOT while deployed. He was so surprised and grateful to be remembered that I wanted to provide that service to other deployed service members . The organization is run by hard working, caring volunteers.
I signed up to attend leap of faith to help Me. My husband went as my support person. It turned out we were both helped and healed so much. I saw a picture a lady took of me smiling while there . I recognized that old smile, I see I'm still in here somewhere. I never thought three days could help us so much! It was healing to share our son's story and be met with eyes that truly understood. We made friends that will walk this journey with us, help each other along, until we are called to be reunited with our son. Thank you OSOT, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
I've been to the Leap of Faith twice. The 1st time I was not able to take the Leap out of t he plane. But after the seminar and amazing support of the OSOT staff I was able to start living again.I returned this June and was able to make the Leap out plane. OSOT continue to support me and now are part of my family.
I recently participated in the Leap of Faith as a Gold Star Mother. It was SO MUCH MORE than I expected. The whole program just came together and was a healing experience. I truly am a changed person after attending. The connection and love from the other attendees and from all the team members was touching and deeply felt. I cannot recommend it enough!
Recently, I was a participant in Operation Support Our Troops America's Leap of Faith Seminar. I was one of roughly 20 some odd people who came together because we have loved ones who have become deceased. The reason they are no longer here was not a factor. The group of us learned about grief, but even more so we learned about taking care of ourselves. We learned about what comes after grief. We bonded with each other and those who went out of their way to be with us. They were compassionate, empathetic, kind and generous. We and our loved ones were treated with dignity. We visited a horse farm, we also christened the conclusion of our weekend by performing a tandem skydive. Thus, "Leap of Faith." This was my first experience as a Military Widow. This was also my final experience as there can be nothing else to top what I have gone through by this experience. This was the most memorable experience of healing I could have ever experienced. From timidly wondering what to expect and moving through my fear of what would be expected of me, to finding I am far from alone, there are others and those who routinely give of themselves and their gifts to others in such a gracious way. Thank you does not begin to do justice in expressing the gratitude for how this organization serves those who are connected to the military. A wonderful organization and I am proud to have been part of an experience which will live with me and move me forward for many years to come.
Went to my first Rockin for the troops event this summer and was blown away by the military support and fun of this event. Amazing day put on by the amazing people at Operation Support Our Troops America--wow! They do so many good things for our military and support them in many ways. I highly recommend this organization, they are absolutely tops. I plan on becoming a volunteer to help out with the great cause.
Operation Support our troops America does truly amazing work and makes a difference in many ways. This organization is extremely supportive of the active duty military person to the veteran to the families of our brave men and women. I have been organizing collection drives and packing boxes at this organization for five years and love every minute of it. I know that the items being sent overseas help our troops by getting them items they need and some fun items too. The organization is extremely supportive and encouraging, not to mention appreciative of what our military does. I have met so many wonderful and caring people here and their support during my spouse's deployment was nothing short of

I have been a volunteer for about three years now and am so proud to be part of an organization that truly gives back to our troops. From the comfort and care packages to the support for the Gold Star Families, they give back 110%! This organization continually evolves to meet the needs of our troops serving overseas and those returning home. I work with a few different non-profits and this one by far exceeds all of them. The organization continues to grow and help more and more families with whatever they need. Great people!!
Great organization to volunteer for and be part of. They are involved in many activities throughout the year to support our hero's overseas.
As we approach Veterans Day, I am always reminded what a great organization I have right in my own back yard. Operation Support Our Troops - America is still going strong and is still serving our troops stationed far from home and in harm's way. As a country, sometimes we take for granted the liberties we enjoy so freely. OSOT lives and breaths helping active troops, veterans, their families, supporters, and friends.
I applaud OSOT for their continued dedication to our military men and women, and wish you all a heartfelt Veterans Day 2015!
This group is one of the finest military support groups out there. I am proud to volunteer and donate and tell everyone I know what a difference OSOTA makes to our fine men and women serving in harms way!
Whether I am sewing at my church for our troops or sorting donations at the warehouse, there is a special energy that you are a part of a special family serving those who serve our country and their family.
My sons received boxes while deployed, it meant so much to them! They have done such good things for the military community, such great people, friendly and supportive.
As a military member who received support during my deployment I can't say enough about the good this group is doing. Keep it up!!
I began volunteering with OSOT America years ago when my son was in the service and I wanted to get involved. I have met wonderful people and true Americans. Not everyone is for the wars we are involved in but everyone is for our troops and veterans. It truly is a family.. People ask me why I volunteer when I could be doing other things and all I can say is I feel great and renewed when I am done.It makes me feel like I am helping my country just a little bit by showing those that sacrifice for our freedoms that we care about them. Deb Rickert and her team are truly remarkable people. This is a GREAT organization.

While my son was in the military I happened upon the Operation Support Our Troops America concert at Cantigny Park. Little did I know that I had also happened upon a group of people that would change me in many ways. The concert starring Gary Sinese and the LT Dan Band was so uplifting and the feeling of Patriotism around me brought tears to my eyes. I had been missing my son so much and felt like noone understood my sense of pride and gratitude as well as the constant fear. The people at OSOT America did. The mothers, wives, fathers, uncles, brothers , sisters, VETS, and others all seemed to share the feelings I had along with a great sense of Patriotism that has grown in me thru the years. The collecting, sorting, packing, and shipping of packages is now just part of what OSOT America does for our troops. Veterans and families are also under their wings of comfort care. I had not joined any other group because I didn't know where my time would be best served. I have come to find out that OSOT America is where. Although I may not give as many hours as many others do I still feel a part of the team and know that even the smallest efforts are appreciated by OSOT America and most importantly our troops, veterans, and their families. While walking in my first parade with OSOT America I could not fight back the tears of pride in my country and in the people around me. The hard work at the concerts is like planning a wedding and then being able to sit back, enjoy it and say "not only did I have fun today but I made a difference." OSOT America not only makes a difference in my days but in the lives of so many others. I have found the family that I want to be a part of and would suggest that anyone that would like to be a part of American Patriotism at their best look into this organization.
This is a great organization that has done so much for our military, our veterans and their families! When our son was deployed, OSOT America came through over and over again with packages of great stuff! While the role of OSOT America is changing, it's commitment and passion is not.
My experience as a Board member and a volunteer has been a life changing experience as I work along side others who pour their heart and souls into the mission of Operation Support our Troops America. Be it as they pack Comfort boxes, support each other during the deployment of their loved ones, or support others in their time of grief. Their commitment and dedication to our Mission makes it known to our brave men and women that they are "Not Forgotten". Whether it is through our Comfort Boxes, various support groups, our Leap of Faith program or as we support other military missions such as Fisher House, PTSD and TBI Research or Veteran Crisis Assistance .
Organization works towards supporting Troops Deployed in harms way as well as Veterans. Ships care packages (12 x 12 x 12) every other week from January through October. In November the Organization ships Stockings for the Troops every week (four in a row) up until Thanksgiving. Requests received by deployed soldiers are honored as quickly as they can be. Organization also works with local groups that support Veterans too. Annual Rockin For The Troops Concert is a blast.

Fantastic organization to work for. Santa's Workshop Team and Volunteers have recently completed packing Christmas Stockings for the Troops. Last shipment of Christmas packages was shipped out the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. Number of Teams and volunteers working together towards a common goal. For the Troops.
Operation Support Our Troops America I a great military support organization. It serves the needs of active duty military in harms way, their families and numerous veterans. The Leap of Faith program for Gold Star families have helped and changed many lives for those families who lost a loved one . OSOT America is the real deal in helping and assisting. The Rockin For the Troops event is one I look forward to every year.

Now known as Operation Support Our Troops America or OSOT America, It does wonderful things to help our active military , their families, returning veterans and families of the fallen ( Gold Star Families). Over the past 9 years have sent out over 1 million pounds of comfort items to our troops in harms way. In addition, works with families of the fallen to help cope with their loss in a partnership with the US Army Golden Knights as well as the 101st Parachute team. OSOT America has also helped bring the first Fisher House to Illinois as well as working to help research into traumatic brain injury ( TBI). OSOT America does great work and continues to do so.
My involvement began as payback for a good deed the organization had done for my son. I could not afford to donate millions, but could offer time and talent. That was eight (8) years ago.

This organization consisting of veterans, military parents, grandparents, spouses, siblings and citizen patriots serves an important mission in supporting deployed troops, their families, our rehabilitating troops as well as their families.
Its most visible mission is sending first-rate care packages to deployed troops. Anyone who has served knows the comforting feeling when hearing their name at mail call. Those of us volunteering know we're putting smiles on the faces of our troops approximately a week after we ship the care packages to them.
How long will I remain involved with Operation Support Our Troops America? As long as we have a military force who needs our support.
May God bless America.
Our company has supported this organization from the very beginning, and will continue to do so. We provide our resources to help them give back to our troops in harm's way, and, their families, and now, those returning veterans. We bring our military vehicles to their Rockin' for the Troops event, and provide our company as their location for their Kickoff event. In addition to financial contributions, our employees readily volunteer for both setup activities and during their main fundraiser. We have employees who are members of the organization, and many have participated in care package packing events. We have been honored to be associated with them, and have also supported events conducted by other organizations which then provide funds for OSOTA. The dedicated team at OSOTA are among the best people I've ever met, and I look forward to working with them on multiple projects.
I especially like the Christmas Stockings they send the troops in time for Christmas. Not only do they send 1 stocking for the name on their list, they send 4 so they are shared with 3 other friends, spreading the joy at a difficult time.
This organization is doing so many great things because it has so many great people involved in it. I have been blessed to be a part of it since the beginning and both of my sons have received support while they were deployed. In addition, I received support as a military mom during the rough times of deployment. They also put on a great event every July with Gary Sinise and The Lt. Dan Band that I look forward to each year!
This group is doing such awesome things to support our troops and their families, and they are doing it SO WELL. OSOT is impressively well organized and amazingly responsive. They have perfected their practices to make sure they are sending troops the items they need most and only things they can really use. They are very careful with things like product expiration dates and create as little waste as possible. There is a standard practice in place but the organization is also able to respond to special needs in a very quick manner. They follow through and when they say they are going to do something, consider it done! I am continually impressed with the way everything is handled in this organization.
When you are in the in the fight for days-weeks and you finally find yourself "home"...except for a package, letter or card from home, there is nothing better than receiving an OSOT 18" square box of love and care from those who support your mission. There is no doubt that your "chunk of home" will bring great joy and a bit of America to all who share in it's contents.
I have 2 sons, 1 daughter in law, and 1 son in law serving now and they have all received packages when they were deployed. My 2 sons and daughter in law have been deployed several times and received boxes each time, said they were the best care packages ever! A bit of home, enough to share.
This was awesome!!! The box was big enough everyone was able to get something to take with them and enjoy.
OSOT America is great! They go above and beyond for our service people overseas. I am currently a volunteer and working with like minded people is truely rewarding. Our soldiers put their lives on the line every day for our freedom, and OSOT America is giving back!

Operation Support Our Troops America is an amazing group! I have been a volunteer for a little over a year. Take a special trip to our warehouse just to see what we are all about. All of our items are donated and collected by a very special group of volunteers. We receive letters back from the troops overseas that will take your breath away. Most of them are in awe because of the kindness shown. We don't just send necessities. We send DVDs and magazines and special letters from 3rd graders!!!!
This is one of the best organizations that I have ever volunteered for! It serves the needs of the troops serving in harms way by making them realize that they are not forgotten and by providing them with tastes of home and comfort items that the military does not provide. Most of the service members who receive the care packages comment that it is the cards and letters that are included in each and every package that is sent that really makes them know that they are appreciated and not forgotten. Operation Support Our Troops America is also a tremendous support network for the family members, friends and loved ones who are left behind to deal with the demands of everyday life while their loved ones are serving our nation. They also have resources to help those whose loved ones gave the ultimate sacrifice. It is an outstanding organization on so many levels.
This is one of the most fulfilling organizations I have ever volunteered for. We are all connected to the Military in some way. Whether you are the veteran, have a family member or friend who was in or is currently in, or simply grateful that someone out there is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for your freedom. This organization does so many things for our troops but our main contribution is our care packages. It brings them such joy to receive these high quality packages, not only because they can use what is in the package but because its another reminder that we haven't forgotten. We have become a family and a great support system for each other and everyone takes great pride in volunteering.
I enjoy assisting with OSOT AM. On Thursday I help assemble the 1728 cubic inches of boxes for the troops. I is great to have a group of guys who work together so well to complete this task in about 1-2 hours. These are then ready for another group to actually fill the boxes on Saturday. After completing this task, I then go to the other warehouse to help make various kits that will go into the boxes. Jean and Nancy and very caring individuals which always have a warm welcome whenever I walk in the door. I am very excited to be able to volunteer for this fantastic organization. And to think it all started in someone garage almost ten years ago. Thanks for the opportunity Perry
This organization reaches into the souls of it's members and those who it serves. I have found peace with my son's service through the various activities it has offered. The family resource meetings, the packaging and sorting for the boxes, the volunteering for "Rockin for the Troops" are just a few events that have helped me. My son is serving his 24th month of deployment (not at one time) and I have gotten strength, knowledge, and comfort within this group. Many only think it is about the care packages that are every service person's dream! I must say, my son has received many and is extremely happy when he gets one. The boxes definitely lift the spirits of those in a land so far away and SO unlike their home land.
I joined after meeting with OSOT at the Rockin for the Troops concert which is one of the best fun raising events I have ever been to. Everyone there is having a great time and telling stories of family members in the service. You cry and laugh with everyone around you and you always go home meeting new friends. I volunteer for OSOT because everything brought in or dontated to this organization goes out to help send soldiers these wonderful packages. I feel great about myself that I can give back to them who give so much to protect us and give us our FREEDOM! We could not be AMERICA with out them.
Great organization for our troops. They are always so excited to get the care packages that OSOT America sends. Thank God for this organization!
Osot is a wonderful organization whereby not only do our troops get remembered but the folks who contribute their time find support and solace in that many of them have service people. My heart aches for the families that bear this burden. I pray the day comes soon when peace prevails allowing our brave warriors to live their lives here on u.s. soil. Meanwhile osot tries to assure our military that they are not forgotten.
I started out as a volunteer for this organization and then received great benefits of meeting terrific people and helping great causes. I attended the Rockin' for the Troops event, brought family and friends and had a fantastic time. And then, my brother had to go to Iraq and Afghanistan, and I was able to submit him and his men to the package listing file. I've submitted his name and war-time address to other organizations, and they would send him maybe one package the entire time. OSOTAmerica sent both him and several of his men multiple packages jam packed with great treats from home. He actually e-mailed me a few months before his tour was over and said they could take him off the list, because they had so many great supplies already that they wouldn't be able to finish. He and his men loved the packages and how the organization thought of everything when sending them. They had necessities that made them feel at home like wipes and anti-bacterial to clean them up, and treats like jerky, candy and chips to fill them up. Love this organization!
I became an OSOT America volunteer before our Marine son deployed to Iraq & Afghanistan. While attending many "Welcome Homes" for our returning troops over the years, our troops have told me face to face how much it means to them, to have strangers care and support them far away from home. It was important for them to know they are not forgotten and that America support them. My Marine son told me the OSOT care packages, and the cards / letters from school children, put a big smile on Marines' faces. OSOT America reaches out not only to deployed troops, but also to support many organizations such as Fischer House, that care for our Wounded Warriors, and conduct Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury research to aid our veterans. Being an Operation Support Our Troops America volunteer has been a life-changing experience for me. Our volunteers are the best people I have met in my life, who lovingly sacrifice their time and efforts for our troops. For me to personally see "The Look" of thanks in the eyes of our returning troops (including my Marine), is all that I need.
I had signed up to help this organization, OSOT America, this past year, but was unable to complete my task at this time. My resolution for 2013 is to give of my time as often as possible. Now having said that when I first learned about OSOT, I couldn't believe all the wonderful things they do to support our troops...these people really do care and take great pride in what they have accomplished. They are there to remind our honorable brave men and women that we have NOT forgotten them. My husband is an ex-Marine and he will be joining me in our effort to do what we can for our beloved troops through OSOT America.
Operation support our troops America is as good an organization as anywhere because of it's volunteers many of whom are veterans and many others, family members of our military personnel. It is inspiring to stand next to someone who's husband just received a Bronze Star or to offer support to someone who's son or daughter has been wounded in action. Best of all , cheering home a recently returned "vet" who's mother is standing next to you with tears of joy because their child has returned safely.I do this because many years ago I was stationed in a jungle far away and there were no groups like this for me or my family. I am grateful that I can help this group.
Great organization! I became involved when my son was deployed in Afghanistan and received a package. He was so excited and I could tell in his voice that he felt proud and amazed that strangers would take the time and care to send him that package. I knew then I needed to get involved. What I found was a great group of people that truly do care. They support programs for those who have served and those still serving along with their families. I found great comfort being with people who truly knew what I was going through during this difficult time, THANK YOU for the hugs, they were much needed. BLESS OUR TROOPS and OSOT America for a job well done!
My husband and I became aware of this organization when our Marine son deployed to Iraq in 2005. We joined to help send boxes to our military However, since then, OSOT America has grown and does so much more! The support for Fischer House, the family support group, the efforts for veterans and so many other projects are now going on all the time. We have participated in some of these events and frequently help to raise funds or collect supplies for the boxes. Our son and many in his battalion through 6 deployments tell us that OSOT America boxes are the BEST! Maybe it's because we pack so much love in them! Operating costs remain low over the years with most of the funds being spent on postage for the boxes. This type of accounting keeps us as active members and donors. And, of course, our biggest fund-raiser, the "Rockin' for the Troops Concert" is always a pleasure to support and attend. We are proud to be active members in such a worthwhile organization that does so much for our military.
I have been a member of this organization for about nine years. I began when my son deployed to Iraq. This organization not only supports the military with packages but is a great support to families of the military. I have watched it grow in size as well as in variety of support such as Fisher House. The concert with Gary Sinise is one of the best venues I have attended. My son was so grateful for the packages he received in Iraq as well as the ones when in Afghanistan, especially the one signed by Gary Sinise. This is a very well run organization!
A great organization! It has sent over 1,000,000 pounds of comfort packages to the troops, but there is much more. The process provides outlets for the family members of our service personnel, and offers a way for us old veterans to show our support for the current troops. Additionaly, OSOT America is able to fund research for TBI and PTSD, as well as education support for both families and returning personnel. Great folks running the organization, and great vounteers. I have been able to enlist several of my friends as volunteers, and they all share my respect for the organization. In short, OSOT America is just GREAT!
I am a service member currently serving in Afghanistan and our unit has recieved several packages from this organization. The items sent are very useful and appreciated by everyone. This organinzation has been absolutely wonderful in contributing to the overall improvement of morale in our unit. Thank you guys so much and keep up the good work :)
I would like to take a moment to Sing the Praises of our Troops and let ~ EVERYONE ~ know just how "special" our
support is to our Armed Forces.
My father and several nephews have been enlisted in various Branches of the Military and our "faithful" support
has brought renewed strength to both our fighting soldiers and their families ~ especially ~ during the Holiday Season and
year long.
Where would we be if we did not have the Faithful Men & Women of these United States to keep the battles off of our ground.
Our soldiers and their families carry heavy burdens to "KEEP" our Country FREE! & the profound and exchanged gratitude that we
send is only a momentum of reinforced hope!
It takes courage and strength to fight the wars that our young men and women endure, financially, physically, emotionally (now and for the rest of
their lives). This is my request to continue to support our Troops - should the days ever come - God Forbid - that we would see our neighborhoods and families
blown up - God Help Us to have the knowledge and courage to fight for our troops at home while they fight for our rights and FREEDOM
across the Globe now.
God BLESS America!

OSOT America Supports American Military and their families with several programs. They send comfort packages to those currently serving in harm's way. They support gold star families with various programs, most notably the Leap of Faith Program. In addition, they provide support to returning veterans through various programs such as finding new ways to treat PTSD, assisting wounded veterans with housing and occupational enablement, and assisting veterans with career assitance after serving in the Military.
OSOT is the finest organization I know. Knowing everything goes directly to the troops makes me hapy to contribute. I have some physical limitations so I am not able to help pack boxes. I enjoy writing letters to the troups. In addition to my most heartfelt thanks for them putting themselves in harm's way to protect our freedom, I write silly stories (all true) about my kitty and the wildlife that visit my back yard. A number have written back to me. They often comment on how much my stories remind them of home. They thank me for bringing a smile to their faces. My heart swells with pride that I have, in small ways, made a difference. I am so very proud to be a part of this grand organization
Great organization! They work tirelessly year round to provide some personal extra's to our troops serving in harms way. And stockings stuffed full of goodies at the Christmas holidays, to help give a little touch of "home for the holidays" to our soldiers who can't be here with us. A BIG thank you!
As a military family, and part of the "Other 1%, we are grateful to OSOT America for their commitment to our heroes and their families. OSOT America's mission has evolved in continuing to provide care packages for those in harm's way while launching new programs to support veterans, families, and research for PTSD and TBI. OSOT America also knows how to have a little fun as evidenced by the popular Rockin' For The Troops concert held in July each year. Check us out at www.osotamerica.org. We have not forgotten!
As a Soldier currently serving in Afghanistan, the volunteers of Operation Support Our Troops America has been outstanding in support of the Soldiers and in my Task Force. I have had the privilege to communicate with Ms Annette and she is quite awesome. For each Soldier that I requested a package for they have gotten a box that is personalized to their individual needs. She sometimes just sends a note to say hello. I received the most awesome quilt in one of her boxes that almost made me cry. The thoughtfulness of the volunteers in this organization is great. I am grateful to be a recipient of the boxes from OSOT. They are truly a great organization, and I appreciate them.
I am serving in the Horn of Africa, Camp Lemonnier, Djibouti. We get the opportunity to volunteer at orphanages, and noticed how much need there was for basic items like clothing, soccer balls, toys, etc. Annette at Operation Support Our Troops America immediately responded to my request for help. Thanks to OSOT America, lots of orphans in Djibouti will actually have soccer uniforms for the first time in their lives! Thank you OSOT America! -- 1LT S. Logan Weiler III http://loganweileriii.com
As a female deployed in Afghanistan, I was the recipent of a care package sent by OSOT. It couldn't have been better timing! I noticed my team and I were getting down in spirits, it was right before Thanksgiving. There were stockings and cards, and letters from kids sent showing their support of us. It was the biggest morale booster for all of us!! We decorated the office with everything, and even some of the civilian contractors have been touched by the support from home. It meant the world to me and the guys on my team! It is invigorating to know that people really do care. Keep up the GREAT work!!
As an Army Veteran and currently working in Afghanistan for nearly two years, I have seen the positive benefit that mail and packages bring to the moral of a soldier in the field. OSOT has been just that organization here in Afghanistan. When an OSOT package arrives it's like Christmas all over again. On behalf of the soldiers and civilians that benefit from these care packages, Thank You OSOT!
This organization has been doing its important work just about since the first boots hit the ground in Iraq in 2003. Not only have thousands upon thousands of troops deployed in harm's way had their spirits lifted by a care package over the years, but I have seen how the organization has reached out to support families of the deployed, and families of the fallen as well. Whether it is two volunteers hugging each other and commiserating over shared hardships during a packing session, or something as organized as the skydiving seminars put on to help gold star families cope with their loss, OSOT America has been there to support our military heroes and their families every step of the way. The volunteers are enthusiastic about the important work they do, and every packing Saturday they are rewarded by the sight of many pallets of boxes going out the door, sent to the deployed troops. It is quite a thrill to witness.
I have been a volunteer with OSOT-America for 9 years. Each month their care packages are sent to deployed men and women. At Christmas they send stockings filled to the brim with goodies. They are involved with the Leap of Faith program to help those military families who have lost loved ones. I have sewn Christmas stockings, collected donated items at Shop and Drops, bagged items for the care packages and packed many boxes that have been sent. For all the "support" they give to our military, Operation Support Our Troops America is my favorite nonprofit.
When you are "in the trenches", in extreme heat or cold, dusty, dry, lonely or in the middle of a firefight...American's do care in the form of OSOTAmerica. The Comfort Packages, Cards, Christmas Stockings and awareness from those who love and support our Patriot Warriors on the battle front are the greatest asset offered by this well oiled and supported organization. Top notch. Ask a recipient and their buddies what a OSOT care package means to them. Beyond compare!
Thoughtful and decisive are appropriate to describe how Operation Support Our Troops America functions to serve our combat troops while deployed, those who are wounded, those who return suffering from PTSD and/or TBI, the families of the fallen, and the needs of those who have become veterans. Leadership of this organization are constantly sensitive as to how they can serve our combat military and provide our communities with a channel to support their efforts in an effective fashion. The volunteers involved in supporting the huge effort of receiving, sorting, packaging into smaller parcels for OSOT-America's twenty-five pound comfort care packages is impressive. Volunteer morale and spirit is always high and strong because they can see how important their respective effort is to support the overall goal of making sure deployed troops know they are appreciated and not forgotten. This same spirit is passed on to those wounded and the families of the fallen through Leap of Faith. This is an outstanding organization and deserves recognition of developing a spirit of "Let me help in some way!" for the past nine years. John K. Rabb, USMC '67-70.
This organization is a wonderful reminder to our troops that America still remembers and cares that they are overseas in harm's way. When one of our troops receives one of our boxes, they not only receive a little bit of home, but they realize that even though they are halfway around the world, we here at home have not forgotten about them. They not only love all the goodies that are jam-packed into each care package, but they especially love the letters/notes written to them by adults as well as children (the ones from the children are especially appreciated!) The volunteers that work here are so committed and devoted to those that serve. It's a wonderful place to volunteer because you actually see the fruits of your labor.... we have had many soldiers/Marines actually come in for a visit to thank us for their package. When they come in, we announce to everyone that there's a Hero in the House! It' just an awesome organization!
The comfort packages that this organization sends are one of the best. The letters received from those deployed thanking the organization will bring tears to your eyes. All you have to do is go to www.osotamerica.org and read some of the letters yourself. One of the first thank you letters I read was thanking us for "American" toilet paper. Yes we send toilet paper, foot powder, personal grooming items (special packages for the gals), snacks, beef jerky, cereal, tuna, crackers and many other items too numerous to mention to fill our comfort packages. We also send fly swatters to keep the nasty flys away in the summer. No matter where I go or travel, it seems the subject of OSOTAmerica, Inc. always enters into the conversation.
The impact this organization has on the morale of our troops is shown in the letters they receive back. Over 1,095,575 lbs of items donated by caring Americans have been shipped to those troops deployed in harm's way--reminding them that America has NOT forgotten them. For many this might be the first piece of mail they have received, it might be a much needed hygiene product, or it might just be a letter that brings a smile to their face--all things remind them why they chose to serve in the US Military. Packed by the members, this 25 lb box provides plenty to share with their battle buddies. Not only does the organization support those deployed, it also supports their families. It's helpful to be around others who understand the stresses of a deployment. Baby baskets are sent to expectant/newly delivered mothers when "daddy" is deployed, reminding them that they are not alone. Many military daddies must miss the birth of their children while they are serving our country. The organization also helps the returning veterans to find jobs. Leap of Faith seminars are held for the families of the fallen. Funds are contributed to help research treatments for Traumatic Brain Injury and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder--two things that impact most of our troops that have deployed. In 2011, the organization changed it's name to Operation Support Our Troops America. Please visit the website to learn more about this great organization: www.osotamerica.org
Operation Support Our Troops America, formerly known as Operation Support Our Troops Illinois, is a wonderful organization which provides care packages to deployed troops, provides support to families of the deployed, helps fund the Fisher House and many more activities.
This Orgaizagtion ROCKS! They have sent out over a million pounds of Comfort Items to our troops serving in Harms way since their beginning. Now known as Operation Support Our Troops America, we hope to reach more!
