Healthed Connect

Healthed Connect is an exceptional organization that is committed to making a difference in the lives of women and children by empowering them with tools they need to bring health care to women in their communities and educate girls and boys who otherwise would not have access. Being a part of this board inspires me to learn more about how health and education works in other parts of the world and gives me hope for what the impact our local volunteers make on their communities.

Having been to several impoverished areas in developing countries like Zambia where many families struggle to survive, I know how important proper nutrition and education are to the health and future of children and their country. It’s the hope of every parent.

Being able to help address those needs and initiatives through HealthEd Connect and its well-trained, indigenous community health workers is both inspiring and rewarding. It is a joy to see the progress being made through the stories, reports, and statistics of the lives being transformed, and we are proud to be part of this effective and empowering mission!

I have heard so many wonderful stories of the impact that Healthed Connect has had on the lives of people who have been living in extremely difficult circumstances. They have brought hope and light into places of the world where they compassionately share their knowledge and work ethic to make a long-lasting difference.

My husband, David and I have been contributing to Health Ed Connect for about 6 years now. The organization works to help educate young girls and women from K-12 onto higher education. Some of the women go on to obtaining nursing degrees and to become
educators. These women are orphaned by HIV: AIDS in third world nations. Without this help most would have quit school to take care of their younger siblings and live a life of poverty.
But now that poverty cycle is being broken and they are living better life.

The model that HealthEd Connect uses is exemplary in terms of community development. I am ecstatic to support their programs, because I know they truly listen to the communities they work with. They prioritize what their community health workers prioritize and empower those that have the knowledge, passion, and commitments to make lasting change in the places they live.

You can be confident that their quality of programs and transparency of financials do what they say they do... empower women and children through health, education and advocacy. What they are able to accomplish with a small budget and in-country volunteers proves the potential and power leading, and teaching others to lead, in service.

I am honored to be a board member and a monthly donor for this nonprofit focused on empowering women and children through healthcare, education, and advocacy. Incredible volunteers in the African countries of Zambia, Malawi, and D.R. Congo as well as in Nepal use evidence-based community surveys to pinpoint the most pressing needs then donations are utilized to provide resources and education to change lives. This nonprofit is the real deal! I've traveled to Zambia and Nepal to meet these incredible local volunteers who are providing healthcare and education in remote villages to end the cycle of poverty. The work is changing lives.

I was able to go to Zambia and Malawi and see the work that they were doing first hand. Not only are they supplying health care workers with training so that they can help people in their community, but they have poured tons of resources into schools, where orphans can learn and some have even trained to be full blown nurses. This nonprofit does such a great job and I would strongly recommend it.

HealthEd Connect was founded by persons with decades of international experience among people who live on the margins. It was founded on principles and practices that have transformed the lives of multitudes and will continue to do so. Integrity is there. Compassion is there. HealthEd Connect continues to change communities that have been underserved by their own nations. They have found a way to instill desires to become dreams to become reality for women and girls who until HealthEd Connect touched their lives, lived in poverty of appreciation, wealth, food, and self worth.
When young women (and a few men) discover healthcare and know they can be of service to their people, they are thrilled and find they can share their knowledge with others, who in turn, pass it on.
I am on their Board who reviews applications for nursing scholarships yearly. Having been a Nurse working in 2 countries as well as the US, it is a delightful surprise to see and hear the testimonies of the nursing students and graduates. I am blessed to be part of this process.

We have been supporting HEC for over a decade and have travelled to the African and Nepalese sites many times. It never fails to impress us with the prudent use of each penny and the deep impact it makes on the communities it serves. A great team!

I see HealthEd Connect live out its mission intentionally, each and every day! It supports women and child in four countries in a multitude of ways. Providing community volunteer health workers the knowledge and skills they need to better take care of their communities is the core of their work. In addition, HealthEd Connect supports three community schools in Zambia that was formed by the volunteer health workers. I have seen this firsthand when on site in Zambia at health worker trainings and visiting the school sites. Now as a board member, I can see the systems in place to support thousands of people on a regular basis.

Health Ed Connect is the most efficient, effective, and passionate non profit I have ever been associated with. They have developed a true working partnership with the locals in the countries in which they work. They listen intently to what their local partners say, and then work side by side with them to develop and implement their projects. They have a very high success rate for getting their project done on time and on budget. And the results speak for themselves. They have developed three elementary schools targeted to orphans and vulnerable children. They have constructed 4 community centers in just the last two years. Two new community centers are currently under construction, and three new vocational/technical schools are in final planning stages. And this is in addition to maintaining all of the volunteer health worker programs that form the foundation of the organizations work. Health Ed Connect is an organization of good people doing good work.

I support Healthy Connect because I have years of experience with its founders, Jac and Sherri Kirkpatrick.
In October of 1990 I worked in Kenya with Jac and saw the personal commitment he brought to the people there. I saw the water taps and gardens they made possible in isolated villages. They weighed babies every Sunday to see if they were thriving, and helped mothers learn how to work with available resources to give their children healthier diets.
Sherri Kirkpatrick was a colleague of mine at Graceland University for many years. I have long admired her amazing dedication to bring her nursing and organization skills to the service of people around the globe. So when she and Jac created Healthed Connect, I knew what they could achieve.
Thirty-one years after I traveled in Kenya with Jac, Healthed Connect continues to carry out the same committed and loving service to people who need help to improve their own lives.
Others can speak to other aspects of this organization, but I thought it might help to hear a witness to the commitment of the founders.

Health Ed Connect have done a lot for our School; Kasompe Community School.
1. It has built 8 learning Classrooms. This has enabled us to accommodate all the children attending classes.
2. It is providing Scholarships to the School Teachers to Colleges and pupils who qualify to Grade 8 through up to Grade 12.
3. It is providing Nutrition Programs through Lunches and served 5 times per week.
4. It is proving community support programs inclusive of primary and emotional health care.
5. It has empowered women and children through evidence based health education and advocacy programs to live physically, emotionally and socially healthier lives.
6. It has empowered families and women care givers through generating skills training as an effort to contribute to poverty reduction in the community.

Healthed connect has brought a lot of happiness in Kasompe and in the children's lives, most of the children were not going to school because they never had support, but it has been a great change through healthed connect and not only that, we also the kafwa's group, some kafwa's did not know how to read and write but now it is a great success to all of them.

Healthedconnect, is one of the greatest organisation which cares about the health of people in community and rural areas in most country in Africa and more especially here in DRC here in lubumbashi and villages around kasenga benefit alot from their project in terms of health and education.

Healthedconnect always provides material and medicines needed in centers and fields where we work. Healthedconnect always respect time of working and the budget which also makes our work better and easy. They have a good working policy and many people here Lubumbashi and kasenga always appreciate the good work of the healthedconnect.

I had the opportunity to travel with this organization in the past when in school. We traveled to Zambia. It was a very educational experience at the time. I have since started my own career in nursing. It has shown me the work that this organization does toward providing education and the health of the people in the communities they travel to is so important. Education is something that can be taken for granted and HealthEd Connect has made it part of their mission to provide children in these communities an opportunity to attend a school.

Health Ed. Connect is a highly worthy, low overhead NGO. Its origin grew out of a dissertation project for a PhD in Nursing by Sherri Kirkpatrick, former Vice President and Dean of the School of Nursing at Graceland University in Independence, MO. Her husband, Jac was a minister and missionary for the Community of Christ . (He was formerly a real rocket scientist for NASA!) I am proud to regard them as close friends and can vouch for their honesty, genuine love for their clients, and as good stewards of the resources entrusted to them. I've worked with them in various projects, including one in Kenya, and know first hand of their dedication and effectiveness in their ministry.

Having spent many years in poverty, I am now in a position where I actually have more than I need, and believe it or not, giving away money is not as easy as it sounds, at least if you want to do it responsibly. Every day we get calendars, address stickers, nickels and dimes in the mail along with requests for donations, but I have felt much better about donating to Health Ed Connect. I know the money I donate will be spent wisely and responsibly, and will go to programs and not publicity. I enjoy hearing the stories about the projects my donations help finance. I am confident that my donations are making a difference in the lives of people who are in need.

I have heard about HealthEd Connect for several years and have been so impressed in how they not only identify health problems with those they serve in Africa, but have creatively found ways to effectively help to meet those needs. It has been wonderful to see how they have taught and empowered these people to be able to not only learn helpful techniques in meeting health concerns but in teaching the people to be able to teach others.

I have heard the excitement and passion in the voices of the founders, Jac & Sherri Kirkpatrick, in being able to provide education and meals for children and youth so their future can hold promise and opportunity for them.

Recently when it has not been possible for Jac & Sherri, due to health issues, to go to Africa 2-3 times a year, as they routinely have done for years, I could hear the thrill in their voices in sharing that the people there in Africa have taken ownership the programs and are running them without Jac & Sherri's physical presence. This helps to fulfill their goals of the people becoming self-sufficient and to have a real hope for the future.

I have been involved with HealthEd Connect since 2013 through a partnership with the Kansas CIty Rotary Club as well as through my own donations. HealthEd Connect asks people what they need and then how HEC help. Over the years of my involvement I have seen schools grow from serving kindergarten and first grades to full schools of K-7. Teachers receive additional training through scholarships. This past year the seventh graders not only passed the national tests, they received the highest scores. Volunteer women are trained to provide simple medical help plus they cook lunch for the school children. There is program for pre-adolescent girls to encourage them to continue their education rather than marry as teen-agers. HEC is making such a difference in the lives of many people - and thus in the world. I make donations outside my Rotary involvement and continue to sing my praises!

HealthEd Connect is a very good organization. They send us information step by step about the wonderful things they are do for so many people in need. It is a blessing to have the opportunity to be part of such an organization.

The amount of care that I saw Health Ed Connect had for the people of Zambia was absolutely incredible. It was truly a blessing to watch communities rise up from awful conditions and band together to help create a better life for those around them, and to see how Health Ed Connect merely provided minimal guidance and the tools for them to do so. The non-paternalistic approach really helped keep the progress going, as the communities steamrolled forward to build more classrooms for their schools, create sustainable gardens, provide a healthy meal for children who may have not been able to eat otherwise, and so much more. That's not to say that Health Ed Connect wasn't very involved, in fact far from it. They seem to have designed the program after the famous saying, "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime". All in all, the amount of positive impact I saw from the organization was astounding to say the least. Definetly 5/5 stars

HealthEd Connect is an organization that my wife and I have have supported for sometime. Because we are older and not well traveled, we have little impact on the world at large. However, by supporting HealthEd Connect we reach from Missouri to Africa to Asia, and help thousands of people far beyond our reach. Health services for many who otherwise would not get help, school and education for children left out we can give vicariously through our small donations that connect heath and education for thousands.

I really love HealthEd Connect because they listen to what the people need and then teach them how to acomplish their goals. The trip I took with them was really special because I could see the impact they make on each person and the community as a whole.

A long-time supporter of HealthEd Connect, I recently had the opportunity to go to Zambia and see their work in person. This experience made me even more passionate about the work they are doing. It was really neat to follow them during their trip. I was even able to see the schools in Zambia via satellite imaging. Amazing what HealthEd Connect has done!

Judy and I were introduced to HealthEd Connect six or seven years ago and have been very impressed with the life-saving and life-enhancing programs that they have created and developed in partnership with the local professionals and volunteers in the countries where they work in Southern Africa and Nepal. They initially focused on local health workers who deliver and monitor the growth and development of babies and children. They then progressed to fill the great need for educating those children, many of whom are orphans. We never cease to be amazed at what they can do with so little seed money. Their work and programs have even motivated the local tribal chiefs to donate land and local resources to assist in the development of more schools and clinics. We never tire of watching which local needs they will tackle next.

HealthEd Connect is the best! Countless lives have been saved; children and young people are being educated; and entire communities are changed for the better. Future leaders are being nurtured in the most positive ways.

This is really a great non-profit. With only two paid positions, most of the money goes to helping the women, children and communities. They provide health education to enable more children to grow to adulthood. The volunteer workers in the various communities where it is established have been recognized by their governments.

I am a farmer in the great food basket of Iowa. I was so please to see how instructors @ Health Ed were teaching the value and use of greens by tire gardens. The students are able to harvest much needed additional food and at the same time receive a first hand demonstration how it is produced.

My opportunity to travel with Health Ed connect this summer was an incredible blessing both in the relationships and perspectives that I gained. I have never fully realized how critical that Health Ed connect's focuses on education for all and personal relationships really are to individuals and communities. This nonprofit is doing such amazing work with women, children, and orphans in Africa. The health care, maternity care, and education they provide makes such a difference in so many lives in areas where the need is very great. The workers are well-trained, caring, compassionate, and dedicated. I'm honored to support this excellent organization.

I had the incredible privilege of traveling with this group this summer. Never before have I seen a group of people create such a large impact. I witnessed firsthand the effects HealthEd Connect has had on their communities in Zambia. They are extremely hands on and involved in all the work that gets done. The founders are even known by their first names by those in the communities. One thing that i find sets them apart is that all of their employees in their Zambian schools are Zambian. This means they are not only helping the students in these areas but the adults as well. The health workers they train are vital to their communities. I struggle to express the total pride I have in knowing these people and to stress how much I truly believe in this group and the work they are doing. If I had the opportunity of giving them more than five stars, I would.

I am learning more and more about HealthEdConnect from Lauren Hall and it is amazing what all they are doing! I love hearing her stories when she comes back from her trips to Zambia. And she explains where the money goes that people donate and it makes you want to immediately donate more!

I have seen several of Health Ed Connects programs in person in Zambia. The schools and programs there are very real, very active, and impact the lives of hundreds of children every single day. I have been in each of the three schools, observed the teachers and staff working, seen the meals served, and seen the excitement and hope instilled in the students there. I have walked with the volunteer health workers as they made visits to the homes of individuals they monitor and assist. The other programs in the Congo, Nepal, and Malawi also make significant impact on children and women each and every day. A contribution to this organization is put to work in programs with real and visible impact. In my opinion, you could not get a bigger more tangible positive result from your contribution than giving to this organization.

One of the best reasons HealthEd Connect is beneficial is because they work directly with the indigenous people. They are able to get needed supplies to the people without having to go through the government and the ever-present red tape. They create trusting relationships and are sincere about helping people help themselves and build better communities.

We have know Sheri and Jac Kirkpatrick, founders of HealtED Connect--for many years. They are extremely dedicated to Healthed Connect. We get the "news" from the Kirkpatrick almost daily. Sheri is a PHD nurse and Jac a long time minister. One also knows that whatever donations are given to HealtEd Connect the majority of the funds go directly to their projects in Africa, Nepal and other countries.

HealthEd Connect raises awareness and truly meets human need where it is greatest. As a supporter, I feel connected to their mission and appreciate the brief updates via email with a pertinent photo to go with the message. I feel they have clearly demonstrated they are excellent stewards of my investment and get the money to where it is needed most - the under-resourced people of the world.

This charitable provides high quality assistance, helps individuals improve the quality of their lives through health and education and their communities with even the smallest of donations. It has very little administration cost and very little overhead costs so the donations have a greater impact than most organizations of this type. The structure is to empower the individuals and not make them dependent of the organization. It is one of the best in its field!!!!

The co- founders of HealthEd Connect, Jac and Sherri Kirkpatrick, have dedicated their efforts toward helping and educating communities in ways they can improve their living conditions, both in the area of health issues, general living issues and learning how to read, for both old and young.

Their news- letters provide exciting information of the activities provided by HealthEd Connect to the communities they are serving. A number of people have recognized the value of this organization and have volunteered their time to also serve these communities.

Because Health Ed Connect has recognizable value, local leaders of these communities have also reached out to support HealthEd Connect.

The leadership of Healthed Connect are veterans of the global non-profit sector and experts at truly making a difference in the world. Their efforts are highly spoken of at Graceland University where I work. After seeing their annual report detaling the communities they have helped inspire to invest in the education of their children, I decided to make a monthly donation.

It's not near enough, but it is motivating to me to see how far they stretch every dollar. What sets Healthed Connect apart is that the local community is so invested in the success of the schools the community builds and the appreciation for the health care training the local women receive.

Long story short - this is not an outside group coming in and taking over, or deciding what is best. The local community members themselves are heavily invested in the success of each initiative.

I've been very impressed with the work done be HealthEdConnect and am a regular donor. I have had personal conversations with people working for the nonprofit, and feel very good about how their program is run and what they are trying to do.

HealthEd Connect, a small organization has the amazing ability to impact a great many lives. The nimbleness of a small group of volunteers that can move quickly and are deeply connected within the communities where they work. An extraordinary example is the instant response following the earthquake in Nepal where thousands received food and were assisted with housing. HealthEd Connect assisted remote communities badly stuck by the earthquake others couldn't reach. I am proud to be a part of such an extraordinary organization.

HealthEd Connect puts their money where their mouth is. All individuals in this nonprofit still go, work, and live among the people they serve. I am so impressed by this small orginaztion and what they have been able to do for education. Three villages now have schools and my university students who are training to be teachers here in the US can go work and see first hand how valuable and coveted an education is in Africa. It is amazing work. I have experienced well run and poorly run nonprofits in my line of work and this is one of the best.

Due to their established presence and connections in Nepal, HealthEd Connect was one of the first on the ground with aid and support for earthquake victims. They provided food and shelter to hundreds in remote villages, and continue to do so. Kudos to Jac, Sherri, and the whole team.

I cannot say enough about HealthEd Connect! My daughter has been involved with Sherri and Jac for several years now and has gone to Zambia two different times. What they do for the people of Zambia who are less fortunate than most of us is remarkable. It touched my daughter is so many ways that her first trip brought about her career change. HealthEd Connect touches everyone who is involved whether that is on their end (they giving end) or the receiving end.

I have learned about HealthEd Connect from my granddaughter who took two separate trips to Zambia this year to support the program. The needs are many in this area of Africa, and are being met in many ways through the teaching that helps increase the skills of the adults and children in the village and through medical care that has shown a true loving and caring support system for many years. HealthEd is administered in an effective way that will continue to develop an independent way of life for these wonderful people that are so eager to learn and take care of their families.

I have loved this non profit for several years. Recently I was able to learn more about their programs while at the International Youth Forum in MO. They are doing such great things. I was happy to purchase a bracelet made by Andrea in Africa and enjoy helping out when I can.

I believe more of my funds I contribute really get used for the purposes I intended. I am included on a blog which allows me know what is happening with this organization. They use volunteers exceptional well to help with their mission and it help those persons to grow in understanding of how to give others hope.

HealthEd Connect successfully creates sustainable opportunities for impoverished areas in Zambia, Malawi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Nepal to improve community members standard of living and quality of life. I have witnessed first-hand the positive effects of HealthEd Connect's presence in three communities in Zambia. Last January, I shadowed the nonprofit and saw empowered women (and men) making incredible change in their communities. HealthEd Connect trains women in the communities to be Healthcare workers and entrepreneurs (that contribute funds to the greater community). Hundreds of orphans and vulnerable children attend the schools created by community members in conjunction with HealthEd Connect's support, as well as benefit from the school lunch program. With a special focus on educating women, they are making powerful strides toward breaking the cycle of poverty in the communities of Chipulukusu, Kasompe, and Zamtan. With intentional planning and expertise, this nonprofit is transforming the lives of many, including my own.

The transformations that occur in the communities where HealthEd has brought education and training are so noticeable and effective that other villages are asking for the same type of training so that their own communities thrive as well.

What's beautiful about it is that the growth truly comes from the energy of the local people who are empowered. The "weakest" groups (women and orphans) are leading the way and inspiring everyone to believe that change is possible and that poverty is not permanent. I am proud to support such great work.

I became aware of Healthed Connect after listening to Sherri Kirkpatrick speak at a Women's Retreat. I was impressed with all of the things they were doing for African families in some very poor communities and decided I wanted to help. For two years, a group from our church has made 400 birthing kits for Zambian women and this year, we made 40 book bags for a school for girls. I receive Sherri's blog and read it regularly. I am amazed at what Healthed Connect is able to do with a little money and I applaud the "on the ground" information they get and evaluate before rushing in to help. Because of this, the help they give is truly needed and wanted. I will continue to support Healthed Connect because I believe in what they do!

I am amazed at how well and how often Jac and Sherry communicate the great things they are doing with HealthEd Connect to interested parties. Peoples lives' are being transformed through HealthEd Connect.

Jac and Sherry Kirkpatrick continue to offer service beyond self to others who do not have the blessings that we here in the US have. I have nothing but respect for the sacrifices that they continue to make helping others and educating a new generation of volunteers in the service of helping others.

I am impressed by and supportive of the important human development projects Healthed Connect has undertaken. My efforts are small monetary donations along with organizing my congregation's sewers as we fulfill our commitment to make apron/uniforms for the African health care workers and school cooks. In the past our congregation has also made baby seats for weighing the little ones and contributed triple antibiotics and aspirin. I especially appreciate the online updates as they help me see the progress and know that my contributions are meaningful.

The Kirkpatricks brought decades of experience in international human development and the medical profession to the establishment of HEALTHED CONNECT. In addition to working side by side with villagers in true endeavors of development (rather than charity) they provide opportunities for young adults from developed countries to gain insight into the challenges of resolving critical issues of global poverty. Having worked with Jac and Sherri in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean, we know of their high standards, their ethics and values, their competence, and their dedication and commitment. This is not just another non-profit seeking to do good. Look at where the money goes. Follow the hard data in the statistics they monitor. Watch their interactions with people in the nations and villages where they work.

HealthEd Connect is one of the finest non-profit organizations I have ever had the privilege of working with. They are truly out to make a difference in peoples’ lives and have the right tools and resources to be able to do so.

HealthEd Connect meets their clients where they are in development. They have clear goals and a vision for the area they can make the most impact, but allow the individuals they serve to have impact in what will work for the community. HealthEd Connect is also great about connecting donors to the recipients and vice versa, even though they are typically on opposite sides of the globe.

My sister recently traveled to Zambia, Africa with HealthEd Connect. I'm very impressed with the work she has been doing and what HealthEd Connect accomplishes abroad. This is a wonderful organization and I would love to be involved with them in the future.

I've been fortunate to represent HealthEd Connect twice this year in Zambia, Africa. HealthEd Connect is a wonderful example of how the world can change and bring hope to other countries. I appreciated the opportunity to work closely with the founders who exemplified the qualities of not just living for yourself, but living to make the world a better place for all. HealthEd Connect's transparency, framework, and generosity has broaden my perspective. This will continue to change my life forever.

I have had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Zambia three times and observe the life-changing impact their programs are making. I learned about HEC through my sister, who has travelled to Zambia twice with the organisation. It is humbling to remember that basic education (for body and mind) is a luxury in so many places, when I was fortunate enough to think of it as a fundamental right. Through her I have seen how HEC operates with conscientious compassion to support and challenge growth in the individuals and communities it seeks to help. I cannot recommend these programs (and the staff who run them) highly enough.

This summer, I met two women who shared their experience, illustrated by photos, of a recent HEALTHED CONNECT (HEC) trip to Zambia. I was impressed with the community response and dissemination plan for the health training and basic life changing first aid skills provided by HEC. But as an educator, I was most excited by the schools being developed for the children through the intense desire of the mothers in the communities. Mothers everywhere are a force for good, and HEC listened.
Basic teaching strategies are being taught by HEC staff to help women in the community to begin to teach children the elements of language and how to read. This effort feels personal and I want to be part of the solution by encouraging compassionate generosity to raise money for books with children and adults alike.

HealthED Connect is a great organization! I became famiier with it through their employee Lisa Ash. I teach Fifth Grade and used the information Lisa shared with me with my fifth graders. We explored the web site and it was very eye opening for my students. I had the opportunity to purchase 'reading beads for the fifth grade students in our school, we use them every time we read. The web site really hit home with my students. The whole idea that some kids do not get a free education was priceless to them.
This is a great non-profit group that is helping people that really want the help. This was very eye opening for students that feel school is an unnecessary evil!

I am impressed with the depth and quality of volunteers serving HealthEd Connect programs in various parts of the world. The fifteen members of the Board of Directors are especially committed and engaged.

HEC is transforming lives locally and globally with volunteers that effect change in communities desperate for health care and education.

HEC is using a sustainable model to empower communities to care for themselves. The projects are executed intentionally with a very strategic eye on the scope and target of all projects. Health education and training of trainers model is in place with some emphasis on economic development activities. The organization has also partnered with university service learning projects to increase access to highly skilled volunteers. I have personally know the leadership of HEC for more than twenty years and can attest not only to their competence but also to their lifelong dedication to serving others.

A well rounded advisory board is engaged with the organization and financial support is directed almost 100% to project execution and community betterment.

HEC works to empower communities. Their health care worker model and their training models for small businesses and teachers are well organized.

The overhead and the staff are quite minimal, but the volunteer base is huge!! I've never seen such a small non-profit organization make this wide of an impact. Truly amazing.

The Community Health Worker model that HealthEd Connect has put to work in communities across Africa and Asia is central in giving members of these communities a voice, especially the families and children with special needs. A Community Health Worker is a trained local volunteer on the ground in the community who assists with primary health care needs, works as a traditional birth attendant and/or provides home based care to those who are ill. HealthEd Connect empowers these local volunteers not only by providing health education skills but by asking them to use their experiences in the community to be agents of change.

The leadership at HealthEd Connect is passionate about seeing these communities succeed and because the organization is volunteer run, a large amount of funds go directly to supporting programs in country. As someone who has worked with the organization over the last couple of years, I am a huge advocate of this sustainable model and life changing mission.

HealthEd Connect has been a part of my life for almost 4 years. I am a Bd. member and have traveled with a committed group of individuals who are interested in changing lives, others and theirs! It is a privilege to be associated with loving people who want to share what they have with others. The individuals we see in Zambia have become my second family. HEC has invested time, money and love helping Health Workers and children learn self-esteem and ways to a different way of life. It is a worth while investment!

My business is a monthly sponsor to HeathEd Connect, because we are grateful for the work they are doing in Zambia, providing lunch programs to 500 orphans. They also train health care workers who visits patients in their homes to provide friendly company, care and food.

HealthEd Connect offers unique person-centered empowerment to women and AIDS orphans/vulnerable children of Zambia through community schools, physical healthcare, and emotional support of volunteer community health workers. Training is also offered free in the villages of other developing countries like Malawi, Nepal, and the Congo. Hundreds of babies and mothers are alive today because of the trainings guided by HealthEd Connect's volunteer staff, yet provided to these volunteer community health workers in each area by their own leaders. The dedication of the villagers involved is incredible--hundreds of miles walked to deliver a baby or share a simple nutritional solution to save little ones' lives is unimaginable in the US tradition. What a blessing!
