Review for Outreach International, Kansas City, MO, USA
I have been giving to Outreach International for over 20 years because they have the right approach to the abolishment of poverty: empowerment of the people they work with. For the last 8 years, I have been privileged to serve on the Outreach Board of Directors and I have visited several sites where Outreach is working at my own expense. I am amazed at the incredible results Outreach gets through working WITH local people to help themselves move out of poverty. I also know where every penny knows and not one gets wasted! You can't do anything better to abolish poverty than to give to Outreach International!
It's been a privilege and joy to work with you, Sharon! Your ongoing support and advocacy on behalf of Outreach is a real blessing.

Outreach International is a unique charity that creates sustainable good in communities around the world. They "build community" and in doing so, empower the poorest of the poor with the ability to help themselves. This raises their self worth and puts them in a position of power over their own lives. I have visited Outreach International work sites and have seen the pure joy in the lives of those who are emerging from the binding ties of poverty and low self worth. It's miraculous!

I have supported the wonderful work Outreach International does for over 20 years! I've had the privilege of volunteering as a Board member to attend two trips to the field (at my own expense) to see the work of empowerment in action in Nicaragua and Bolivia: new homes, latrines, and clean water in Nicaragua and smokeless ovens, greenhouses to grow fresh vegetables, and trees planted for harvest in Bolivia. It was an amazing experience to hear the local people in both locations talk about THEIR accomplishments as they worked together to better their lives. What a wonderful gifts were developed beginning with the work of Outreach: a sense of pride in new found abilities, a culture of consciously working together in community toward a common goal for the good of all, and, the realization that extreme poverty does not have to be a continual way of life.

Outreach International builds confidence in people living in poverty to solve their own challenges and teaches them the skills they need to improve their lives! As a volunteer Board member, I've seen smiles of pride on the faces of community members building safe, concrete homes and meeting together to wrestle with their problems of water availability in Nicaragua. High on the pampas in Bolivia, I visited some of the poorest communities in the country where families were learning to grow fresh fruits and vegetables in green houses they had built themselves and were learning farming techniques for growing trees to sell for lumber. Outreach International truly stands for sustainable good!
Review for Healthed Connect, Independence, MO, USA
I became aware of Healthed Connect after listening to Sherri Kirkpatrick speak at a Women's Retreat. I was impressed with all of the things they were doing for African families in some very poor communities and decided I wanted to help. For two years, a group from our church has made 400 birthing kits for Zambian women and this year, we made 40 book bags for a school for girls. I receive Sherri's blog and read it regularly. I am amazed at what Healthed Connect is able to do with a little money and I applaud the "on the ground" information they get and evaluate before rushing in to help. Because of this, the help they give is truly needed and wanted. I will continue to support Healthed Connect because I believe in what they do!
