I was introduced to MALT when I moved to the area and wanted to help support local conservation. I was so impressed with the organization and their mission that I decided to join the board. I find MALT approachable, professional and personable and that was really important to me. They partner with local owners across the front range to ensure the land remains pristine and beautiful. Who wouldn't want to be involved in that?
Fresh air, pristine surroundings, quietness and solitude - nature like it used to be! Like many of you my soul aches for that, and Mountain Area Land Trust (MALT) provides that for all of us. MALT is the leading voice for land and water conservation along Colorado’s Front Range communities, serving a 4,830 square mile service area. Their mission is to preserve natural areas, wildlife habitat, streams and rivers, working ranches and historic lands for the benefit of the community and as a legacy for future generations. In addition to their managed properties, they have been successful in creating access to large parcels of previously landlocked public lands on which I love to hike and bike. Check out their website at www.save the land.org which explains how landowners can permanently conserve and protect their property while maintaining ownership, and how you can become involved to help further and enjoy the many efforts and impacts of this amazing organization.
I have attended a few events with MALT. I really enjoyed the history and nature hike and solar eclipse activity! Keep up the good work!
MALT is one of the best non-profit organizations that I have had the privilege in supporting, as a donor, volunteer and a member of the Board. MALT’s staff, Board Members and supporters are committed to forever protecting our vistas, streams and rivers, wildlife habitat and historic lands from development. Enjoy a walk through Elk Meadow, visit Beaver Brook Watershed and explore Floyd Hill Open Space and you will be benefitting from a few of MALT’s conservation efforts. MALT is definitely worthy of the recognition as one of the top-rated non-profits in the area!
MALT is an incredible organization - not only do they save land and water and wildlife habitat, but they take their mission seriously, ensuring that future generations of Coloradans are educated about conservation and the importance of stewarding our beautiful open spaces. I was lucky to participate with MALT this summer on a "Citizen Science" workshop and learned about dendrochronology and the role that the study of tree rings plays in tracking climate change. MALT is a Colorado institution and I'm grateful for their work!

Mountain Area Land Trust played a huge role in saving my sanity during the Covid-19 quarantine of 2020. Despite not being able to live life as "normal", I spent every free hour outside enjoying the amazing natural areas, views and wildlife that MALT works so hard to protect. I explored Floyd Hill Open Space, Elk Meadow, Noble Meadow, and Pennsylvania Mountain - all MALT conserved properties - just to name a few. How lucky are we to live in such a beautiful natural area, with large swaths of land and water all largely protected thanks to MALT!
I have been involved in the environmental industry for almost 20 years, and I've been involved with environmental-related nonprofits for about 15. I am so impressed with the board and staff of this fine organization. The staff especially are top-notch. Every event with the public I've been to I hear people gushing about MALT's staff and board. MALT's mission is near and dear to my heart. Colorado is such a beautiful state, and it's beauty comes from its undeveloped land. Ensuring that land and water are protected forever from development is an important legacy we can leave for our children and grandchildren.
Mountain Area Land Trust is an amazing organization with the most dedicated staff. They are true stewards of the land and form deep collaborations with the community members. Everywhere you turn land in Evergreen, Jefferson County and beyond is impacted by MALT. Proud to be a donor!
This is a fantastic nonprofit, run by a very dedicated and conscientous group of people. MALT is contributing substantively to the land preservation happening in this area, and this organization serves as a wonderful catalyst and source of guidance for people and entities that may not have thought about land preservation before. I'm a fan!
Mountain Area Land Trust is one of Colorado's premier conservation and preservation entities. MALT has conserved more than 26, 000 acres in the mountains immediately west of the Denver Metro area. I have granted MALT a conservation easement on my property near Conifer, CO to ensure that it will never be subdivided or developed and its animal & riparian will remain undisturbed. MALT's staff were extremely knowledgeable in the process. I support & recommend MALT.
I have been a part of MALT for several decades as a volunteer, beneficiary of its conservation work in the community, and now as a board member. Over the years MALT has only grown stronger and more professional and expanded its conservation and educational impact across the front range of Colorado. It is by far one of the best, most well run organization, I have been a part of. Congrats MALT!!
Wonderful organization for preserving open space . Outstanding staff, and very efficient use of funds.

I have been on the board of mountain area land trust for four years and cannot say enough great things about this organization. I am proud to be part of a trust that is in the process of saving lands, preserving open space and contributing toThe health of rivers.
The new trails built at Sacramento Creek Ranch and Floyd Hill open space this year are phenomenal.
We are seeing so much growth, and while good, preserving our land and way of life is so important. So impressed with MALT's ability to work with rancher and landowners to encourage and enable them to preserve their land in perpetuity. MALT truly does everything with a high standard of excellence, from working with donors and landowners, to the events and public outreach. Incredibly hard working staff too!

Mountain Area Land Trust is a pillar of this mountain community. They are very highly regarded, not only for their work preserving land, but with the integrity, quality and excellence in which they do everything. My personal experience with their events, and their staff has just reinforced their stellar reputation. And Night in the Park fundraising event is THE event of the summer too!
I did a Conservation Easement on my family's ranch through the Mountain Area Land Trust and referred two friends to MALT that also owned ranches. We all had an excellent experience working with MALT. They are the MASTERS of protecting watersheds, scenic vistas, and legacy properties for perpetuity. They are very easy to work with, take annual monitoring of properties they have easements on very seriously, and are also very fiscally conservative and efficient with donated funds. They are true stewards of the land and a great community asset! Colorado is lucky to have MALT as our neighbor!!!
Mountain Area Land Trust a great organization that does an amazing job conserving our resources for future generations!
MALT is committed to ensuring that the beautiful landscapes and wildlife of Colorado's Front Range are protected in perpetuity.
MALT has continued to do great work over the years providing spaces for families to hike, picnic and explore.
I support the work of MALT because I know that future generations as well as wildlife will benefit from the land that they have conserved.
MALT continues to do great things, and the growth that Colorado has seen in the last few years has made this work even more urgent and their leadership more impressive! I feel confident that their work will have a lasting impact to conserve Colorado's mountains, waters, wildlife habitat, and rural beauty for future generations in a cost-effective manner.

The Floyd Hill Open Space public project that MALT spearheaded has been a great place to hike and bike during the pandemic of 2020. To have a place to go and get out in nature so close to my home has truly been a blessing. I appreciate the work they continue to do to save the land in Colorado for all of us!
The Mountain Area Land Trust has been a part of my family's philanthropic agenda for almost 2 decades. My husband, as a large animal veterinarian, had exposure to many property owners of large land tracks, required for their ranching operations. When these property owners voiced concern about how to preserve these open spaces for future generations, my husband knew just where to turn. As a current board member, I continue to be impressed by the dedication of the staff and board to maintain the mission principles of MALT. While MALT has grown in scope and size over the last 2 decades, the mission and community participation has remained constant. I am so proud to have been a small part of their outreach. - Marion Wells, MALT Board Member
Born and raised in Denver, CO my family spent many days on picnic excursions in the foothills west of Denver. A majority of the area had a few summer cabins but mostly open spaces. As time passed and the population grew homes and businesses slowly crept into the area until it seemed as though every parcel of land was being developed. By chance I met the president of MALT at the Conifer Wendy's 4 years ago and was intrigued. Although a MALT contributor I had little knowledge of the extensive background of the board and staff and their commitment to preserving undeveloped land, ranches and historic places in this beautiful area. I received a personal invitation to the "Night in the Park" fundraiser that summer and as a result have included MALT in my trust. MALT continues to be successful in preserving these lands where I grew up and I am happy to live in a community that supports their mission to protect the natural beauty that I love for future generations.
Mountain Area Land Trust plays an essential role in land conservation in Colorado and has proven success in protecting land and water resources and natural areas. With their fantastic staff and board leadership, they actively work to connect people to the land and engage stakeholders in leaving a legacy for future generations. I am always confident that my contribution goes towards this mission!
I have been involved with MALT as a donor for over 15 years. The projects they have been involved with range from private conservation easements to assisting in opening up lands for public use. The most recent project they are involved with is the repurposing of Sacramento Creek Ranch, a property near Fairplay CO. A beautiful 70 +acre parcel, MALT just completed a new hiking trail and has plans for more activities at the facility. Looking forward to see what MALT plans to do in the future. A great organization !
Mountain Area Land Trust is an efficient, cost-effective powerhouse for conserving mountains, wildlife habitat, lands along streams, and historic ranches in some of the most quickly developing areas of Colorado. MALT has sought to conserve areas that are most at risk, that yield benefits for future generations, and that provide all of the opportunity to enjoy our Colorado way of life. Land conservation cannot be left to wishful thinking and good intentions. These are people with local knowledge of the land and ecosystems, expert skills in understanding Colorado law and real estate, and a willingness to dig in and get their hands dirty - whether building a trail or ensuring that scientific research can continue to take place in threatened forests. I feel blessed to have found an organization that does everything so well, in such vital work. I hope those who want their children and grandchildren to enjoy Colorado as we do today will join with MALT in its efforts to conserve our natural areas.
Engaging events, like a Night In the Park, bring families and the community together to raise money and celebrate the beauty of the outdoors. We love working with MALT!

For the last 21 years Mountain Area Land Trust has worked hard in our community to protect 20,000 acres of open spaces that create the views, the recreation and the lifestyle in our community. I know that because of their work, our area will look like it does forever, even when my kids kids come back to see and enjoy it. Our family is truly grateful for all that they do. I love thier website SaveTheLand.org
