Rating: 5 stars   2 reviews

Issues: Education

Location: PO Box 599 Williamsburg VA 23187 USA

Mission: Henricus Colledge (1619), "America's 1st College", was originally founded by the historic 1619 First Virginia General Assembly, convened in the wooden church on Jamestown Island [a year before Plimouth Rock, 17 years before Harvard, 74 years before Wm & Mary, and 200 years before Jefferson's UofVa!]. The Colledge grew from the English Reformation...which placed high value on literacy, representative government, private property, individual responsibility, free enterprise capitalism, and the co-equality and constraint of state and church, i.e. American Civilization's "Liberty Under Law". Henricus Colledge (1619) was revived in 1992, to tell the [no longer well-told] story of the purposeful development of American Liberty, especially as designed by the Virginia Company.

We are still doing Continuing Education on "America's Lineage of Liberty: 5 Great Decisions, 5 Great Documents". Operating now from 3-d headquarters at THE beach: Short courses, seminars, commemorative events, historiological research, and publications, besides our presence on the internet. Our work has been officially recognized by the General Assembly and Governor of Virginia, and, more recently, the SC House of Representatives. ... Steven C. Smith, Chancellor, 16 June 2013
