For over 10 years our family has been involved as sponsors, participants, volunteers and recently joined in traveling to Africa with Lahash International. We have been able to see this nonprofit from many angles and each one only manages to enhance that they are an incredibly holistic, transparent, effective and invested organization. They care about the whole person receiving holistic care. We have witnessed firsthand the hope that this organization brings to individuals through our sponsorship of a sibling set over the last 10 years, who are now 22 and 23yr. old, and as they put it, "Lahash has given them a bright future!" The work of Lahash changes lives and whole communities by investing in local ministries who know the challenges, know the kids personally, and support about them as individuals. These kids find hope, develop their faith & character, receive nutrition and are provide education that they can then use to invest back into their communities and make generational change.

CCVA leads and administers the international credential for volunteer administration, and we do so by: - Advocating for those who hold the certification, the volunteer involvement and engagement profession, and volunteer-involving organizations to ensure quality, credibility, and sustainability - Unifying volunteer engagement practitioners to learn and grow together and evolve volunteer engagement practices - Infusing ethical practices and approaches to volunteer involvement - Elevating volunteer involvement and administration globally through the CCVA Body of Knowledge and proactively responding to emerging trends, practices, and research - Recruiting and engaging a strong board and skills-based volunteers to govern CCVA and ensure operational efficiency and effectiveness Joined the Board after having the opportunity to collaborate with CCVA while serving on a previous national board and was impressed by their leadership and collaborative commitment to volunteer engagement.

Despite following all event instructions, arriving before the cutoff, receiving a number, and waiting since 7:30 a.m., I was turned away at 4 p.m.—an hour before the event ended. This occurred immediately after I spoke up about being disrespected by the person in charge. She then actively blocked other staff members from assisting me, despite my genuine need for the resources. I left feeling explicitly punished for advocating for myself. This retaliatory behavior raises serious concerns regarding any future donations, volunteering, or community affiliations with this organization.

World Pulse is dedicated to digital empowerment and creating a platform for women to share their stories and solutions. Their work is truly inspiring and creating real change in communities worldwide.

I'm a "client served" in the side of being a customer at their store in Tigard. The place has immensely improved over the years! It is *much* better organized than it used to be, and the current manager is very friendly and reasonable. I have also talked with several of the other people they have working there-- people who have gone through their program-- and they have expressed a lot of gratitude for the program and how it has helped them get on their feet in multiple good ways. Whenever I donate, I always want to donate to them (and to suggest other people do too), to help more people!

This is a great program to connect a client with companies ready to hire it's graduates from construction math to hands on carpentry this is a great program where I gained great friends.

This response says a lot about this organization ! Beware of these organizations that get upset about you telling them to not contact you because it’s a waste of time but the switch it around and say “you’re mad because you didn’t get funded” ! If that’s the case we both upset ! 1. You’re mad because I said to stop contacting me ! 2. I’m mad because I didn’t get funded I had my time wasted so oh well ! And when I reached out to the ceo of this organization go figure not response lol !

Oregon Environmental Council's work addressing pesticide use, public transportation, water quality and many other issues has helped maintain and improve the quality of life here in rural Northeast Oregon.

I love this organization! As a former participant (2010-2012) and a current employee I have witnessed its humble transparency to serve families better and to serve more families. We don't nail it 100% of the time, but wow, do we put in the effort to get there. I have the privilege to work directly with families and on the organization and the overwhelming vibe is committed hard work from the staff, but especially the families as they navigate their own financial journey. I'm incredibly grateful to work with the staff and families who cultivate an environment of hard work, service and delight in the pursuit of living a values driven life.

She instead decided to Kick the Can down the road rather than standing up and embracing her role as the CEO of reach Community Development! So to any prospective tenants please do yourself a favor and avoid renting a unit from a reach Community Development property in Portland Oregon and Southwest Washington State

I have volunteered here before and its a great org. They care about people, and making a difference. They live up to their mission - as best as they can. They also work with local churches that help out with this cause - which is fantastic.

I came here to adopt a pet. When I did, I was shown a cat in the back room. The reps explained they were a non kill shelter but because the cat wasn't adopted yet they were going to ship him off to another location (and couldn't guarantee if they were non-kill or not). I think a non-kill shelter should be that, and not get around that title by a technicality.

Low key an insidious and sort of evil “non profit”. SCRAP has a history of discriminatory treatment of their employees. They hire young, queer, and disabled people who they can more easily take advantage of, expect them to do SO much work while disregarding their needs and experiences. This operation profits off of an image of being community and sustainability centered while in reality, it doesn’t seem to at all consider these things in its functionality and execution of its "mission". This place has very little, if any, compassion for the communities it profits off of. The CEO doesn’t even live in Oregon or ANY state where a SCRAP Creative Reuse operates from. How can a non profit be successful when it is being ran by an absent entity at the top of the hierarchical pyramid?

The Positive Charge Compassion Through Literature program has been a great inspiration to me to do more to advance ‘literacy and justice for all’ in our community. So much wonderful energy and so many great books allowing diverse people of every persuasion to feel seen and celebrated in literature with no barriers to access. I am grateful!

Toby is a former foster youth, a former victim of labor trafficking, a veteran with an honorable discharge, and a cancer survivor. Toby was referred to NWFS at age 21 when he was approved for the Foster Youth to Independence Housing Voucher. <br><br>When NWFS staff first met Toby, he was experiencing homelessness. He had been couch-surfing but had nowhere to sleep that night. Toby had no identifying documents, no clothes other than the ones on his back, no phone, and no support system.<br><br>NWFS staff supported Toby in overcoming the many obstacles in his way. NWFS helped to connect him to veteran services, to obtain his essential documents, and to move into his very own place. Today, Toby is still working with our FY2I program to find employment and to craft a plan for the rest of his life.<br>

We have been trying to complete the lending process quickly since we have a baby coming in the next couple months. When I called NHI, Charlie slot me in for the very next day in the middle of a busy week. That is helping us move forward to the next steps! Also, he was proffessional and helpful: willing to give me any info I needed and he was able to answer all my questions as well as teach me about the systems in the house we plan to purchase!

I cannot recommend this agency for hosting exchange students. I signed up to be a welcome family for the 2024 year, and was informed by the regional manager that he would be with us for 4-6 weeks before moving to his permanent host parents. However, he stayed with us from August 25th, 2024, to February 2nd, 2025, which was the first of many misleading statements made by the agency.<br><br>I was told that the student I would be hosting had already been accepted into the local high school, but I soon found out that accepted and enrolled are not the same thing. The coordinator I spoke with initially was not aware of this distinction, and I was left to navigate the school district's enrollment process on my own. The agency charges a significant amount of money to the parents of the exchange student. You would assume there would be more support but there was very little support provided during the enrollment process.<br><br>Once the student arrived, it took about two weeks to get him into his classes. I was referred to the local area coordinator, who informed me that the agency had lied about previously placing students at the specific high school near my home. The school is known to be average, but the students are typically not motivated. I was not made aware of this fact, and my biggest concern was placing a student at that school. Unfortunately, we had to move the student because he was so unhappy in his school.<br><br>At the start of my host parenting journey, the local coordinator and I got along well. However, this changed in early October when the monthly home visits stopped, and communication became scarce. I was told that home visits were required monthly by state regulation, but the last visit in November was just the coordinator picking up the student for an event and dropping him off. There were no home visits in December or January.<br><br>Another issue we had was the inaccuracy of the student's application. Based on the application, we thought we would have a lot in common. However, as we got to know our student, we found that he had misrepresented himself and put things that made him sound appealing to a host family. His hobbies included watching movies and photography, but in fact, he hated movies and did not like photography. He was also allergic to dogs, which I made clear on my application as I have four dogs.<br><br>The regional manager called me and spoke to me about these issues, including the fact that the student did not seem interested in going on outings with us. She apologized and said that our student was a "potato" because he was so boring. I was shocked that anyone would speak about a child in their care in such a way.<br><br>It seems that this organization does not care about the students and passes the blame game to everyone else. There were several times I had to ask for status updates on the student's new home, and when a new home was finally found, we were told not to say anything to him about moving. He was only informed on Thursday night that he was moving on Sunday. He didn't even have the opportunity to say goodbye to some of his friends and teachers. It broke my heart, as I had grown attached to him and tried to make him a part of our family. We still speak every week to this day, and I am glad to have met and hosted such a wonderful young man. <br><br>In conclusion, I cannot recommend this agency for hosting exchange students. The lack of support, misleading statements, and inaccurate applications are unacceptable. Additionally, the way the organization speaks about the students in their care is concerning. I hope that other families considering hosting an exchange student will consider this review and choose a more reliable and supportive agency.

Horrible experience with the Executive Director. She told a wild contradicting story about Oregon Humane and how they don't take their animals back, but also they took back one dog 6 times. During our conversation she expressed actual breed prejudice against German shepherds and made some broad statements about every dog born during COVID or on native reservations. She has no background in animal care- she said she was a French major and was a bartender before somehow getting an executive position. It's sick the board allows someone with open prejudice against dogs and with no actual animal training to decide which animals are kept and which are put down.

I've been so pleased to be a part of the Portland chapter of NCL! Such a friendly, warm and welcoming group. It's been a wonderful way to spend time with my daughter, while giving back to our community. <br><br>There are a variety of speakers and programming from Executive functioning & how to talk with your daughter about the ups and downs of friendship, to fashion and hands on philanthropy. My daughter's meetings have had content on how to conduct a meeting, self defense, yoga, self care, leadership, and hands on philanthropy. <br><br>There are many opportunities for philanthropy for you and your daughter. I 've been on the board for two years, and found the women to be supportive and collaborative. I appreciate that our girls to get see us in leadership roles, and they also get a chance to lead too. Overall, it's a beneficial program and I highly recommend it.

I work for an organization that benefits from the dedicated work of SEE Turtles. They support our beach clean ups and sea turtle protection programs. Their support through the years has helped us to save tens of thousands of sea turtles. They are an efficient organization, sending most of your donations straight to the field to help sea turtles. We feel so lucky to work with them.

CAW CAW The Raven Corps swoops in helping to save people and animals from the evil oppression that keeps us all chained. <br>TRC knows what's what, they know the truth from the lie.

The CCA executes flawlessly on it's stated mission of providing moments of joy to kids and families undergoing staggering medical hardships. Their programs are innovative and effective, and they continue to push to expand so they can bring joy to more kids in more places . I feel honored to support their work.

With a small staff and dedicated volunteers, Solar Oregon has for over 40 years provided educational events to promote solar energy in our rainy northwest. As a volunteer, board member, and retired architect, I have enjoyed the events and the opportunity to educate Oregonians: Go Zero home tours, Solar Winery Tours, Community Solar education, and our Green Energy Series.
